NSCDC smashes illegal oil refinery in Abia State

By Matthew Atungwu

The Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has uncovered and dismantled an illegal artisanal oil refining camp in Umuohala community, Ukwa West Local Government Area of Abia State.

NSCDC made this disclosure in a post on its X handle.

The operation was said to be conducted in the remote areas of the state with a view to combating theft and environmental pollution.

The raid is, however, a significant step towards clamping down on illegal oil mining across the globe.

“In a renewed onslaught against oil theft, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has successfully uncovered and dismantled an illegal artisanal oil refining camp hidden deep in the creeks of Umuohala Community, Ukwa West LGA, Abia State,” the post read.
