Four dead, 13 injured in Niger State autocrash

By Abdullahi Egba

A tragic road accident along the Agaie-Lapai Road in Niger State has claimed the lives of four individuals and left 13 others injured.

The fatal crash, which occurred near Al’Farma International School in Agaie Local Government Area, involved a head-on collision of three trailer trucks, one of which was transporting livestock.

A statement by the Director General of the Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA), Abdullahi Baba-Arah, said the accident was caused by wrong overtaking.

The impact of the collision was devastating, resulting in the immediate death of two individuals at the scene, while the others succumbed to their injuries at the hospital.

In addition to the human casualties, the crash also led to the deaths of about 15 cattle and more than 20 goats. The injured victims were quickly rushed to Agaie General Hospital where they are receiving treatment.

Emergency response teams, including NSEMA’s Agaie desk officer and local volunteers, promptly arrived at the scene to conduct rescue operations. Their swift intervention helped transport the injured to the hospital and clear the wreckage from the road.

Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and avoid reckless driving to prevent such tragic incidents. Investigations into the crash are ongoing.

There is a deep chasm between existing and truly living. To exist is to wake up, work, eat, sleep, and repeat-a cycle that satisfies the flesh but starves the soul.
