Gov Sani approves N72,000 new minimum wage for Kaduna State workers

By Richard Ogunsile

The Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani, has approved the implementation of a new minimum wage of N72,000 for civil servants.

As revealed in a statement released on Thursday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Musa, the governor noted that the new minimum wage would be effective from November 2024.

According to Musa, this decision reflects the administration’s dedication to advancing the welfare of workers and improving the living conditions of the impoverished, vulnerable, and underserved populations in Kaduna State.

This initiative is also consistent with Governor Uba Sani’s enduring commitment to the advocacy and safeguarding of workers’ rights, the enhancement of their welfare, and support for the disadvantaged.

Furthermore, the statement indicated that Governor Uba Sani plans to introduce a Free Transportation Scheme for civil servants, which will involve the deployment of 100 CNG buses.

According to the spokesman for Governor Sani, these buses will facilitate transportation for civil servants to and from their workplaces, with the objective of alleviating the challenges faced by workers and boosting their productivity.

The statement also mentioned that a Joint Management Committee, comprising representatives from organized labour (NLC and TUC) and the State Government, will be established to oversee the Free Transportation Scheme for civil servants.

The Kaduna State Government remains committed to developing and implementing policies and initiatives aimed at providing relief to the populace. We are dedicated to transforming the lives of the underprivileged.

With the continued support of our citizens, we aspire to make Kaduna State a benchmark for social welfare interventions.
