The Chairman of Birninkudu Local Government Council in Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammad Uba, has announced the recruitment of 660 youths as teachers, health workers, and agricultural extension officers within his first 52 days in office.
Uba disclosed this during the launch of 47 solar-powered boreholes for water schemes by Governor Malam Umar Namadi at Masaya village in Birnin-Kudu on Wednesday.
In his address, Uba highlighted the council’s commitment to Governor Namadi’s 12-point agenda, focusing on water supply, human capital development, education, health, agriculture, peace and security, and youth empowerment.
“From inception into office on the 7th of October to today (29th November), under Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s inspiring twelve-point agenda, the Birnin Kudu council has embraced five critical focus areas of water supply and human capital development, education, health, agriculture, peace and security, and youth empowerment,” Uba said.
He emphasised the strides made across various sectors: “In education, we have launched the ‘BTeach’ initiative, under which we employed 300 National Certificate of Education (NCE) holders to bridge critical gaps in our schools. This demonstrates our resolve to improve educational outcomes and provide our youth with the tools they need to succeed.”
On healthcare, Uba noted that the council exceeded its initial recruitment target: “In healthcare, we have employed 200 young individuals, exceeding our initial target of 120, to address the growing demand for quality healthcare services. This bold step not only improves healthcare delivery but also provides meaningful employment to our youth, showcasing our commitment to your agenda of prioritising human capital development.”
The council boss maintained that “in agriculture, we have engaged 40 youths in dry farming activities, setting the foundation for sustainable agricultural practices. On the critical issue of peace and security, we are collaborating closely with security agencies to ensure the safety and stability of our residents.”.
Furthermore, the local council is on the verge of procuring nine motorcycles for our Special Assistants for Monitoring. “These dedicated individuals will oversee education and healthcare initiatives, ensuring the effective implementation of your visionary projects and maintaining accountability to our community.”.
Additionally, we are proud to announce that on the 30th of this (tomorrow Saturday), the local government council will commence skills acquisition training for over 240 women, equipping them with the knowledge and tools to foster economic growth and independence.
He added that the beneficiaries have already been carefully screened across our eleven wards, ensuring inclusivity and fairness in the program.
Alhaji Uba “In the realm of water resources, we have undertaken extensive repairs of over 100 boreholes, rehabilitated heavy boosters, and conducted a comprehensive overhaul of one of our main waterworks generators, all at an investment of over ?5 million. These efforts underscore our dedication to ensuring that every citizen of Birnin Kudu has access to clean and safe water.”
The chairman stated further that under the current administration, the council committed to providing full scholarships for over 140 students from medical institutions, following the exemplary example set by Governor Malam Umar Namadi.
He also said that significant progress is being made on the renovation of the local government secretariat: “Plans are in place to construct a 1.5-kilometre feeder road, including a bridge, which will serve as a bypass to the radio station for many motorists in Birninkudu.”
We are deeply honoured by your visit and deeply appreciative of the love and support you continue to show the good people of Birnin Kudu.
