Gov Nwifuru proposes N396.59bn 2025 Budget to Ebonyi State House of Assembly

Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi State has presented a 2025 budget proposal of N396.59 billion to the State House of Assembly, titled the “Budget of Economic and Social Development.”

The proposed budget includes N284.52 billion for capital expenditure and N112.07 billion for recurrent expenditure.

Economic Sector: Allocated the highest share with N200.13 billion (50.46%).

Social Sector: Received N141.18 billion (35.60%).

Administration Sector: Allocated N50.95 billion (12.85%).

Law and Justice Sector: Allotted N4.14 billion (1.04%).

Regional Sector: Received N185.5 million (0.05%).

Revenue Sources

The budget will be funded through:

Capital Development Fund: N181 billion (45.64%).

Statutory Allocations: N133.39 billion (33.64%).

Aids and Grants: N45.69 billion (11.52%).

Internally Generated Revenue (IGR): N28.5 billion (7.19%).

Opening Balance: N8 billion (2.02%).

Focus on Education and Health

Governor Nwifuru emphasized investments in education and health:

Education Sector: Allocated N70.14 billion (up from N59.57 billion in 2024).

Health Sector: Received N39.01 billion (up from N18.49 billion in 2024).

Acknowledging the challenges of governance, Nwifuru stated:

“The task of meeting people’s needs is challenging, but we remain committed to fulfilling our People’s Charter of Needs. While progress has been made, we are determined to achieve our goals with the cooperation of all Ebonyi people.”

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Moses Odunwa, commended the governor’s commitment and assured a speedy passage of the budget, which has already passed its second reading.
