Vice Chancellor of Akwa Ibom State University, Prof Eno Ibanga, on Friday said the institution has introduced a whistle blowing policy to curb all vices plaguing the university system.
Ibanga, stated this during his address at the 9th matriculation ceremony of the university, which held at the Ikot-Akpaden campus of the institution.
He said any student or staff, who assists the university to curb rape cases, sex-for-marks, impersonation and others, would be rewarded with N100,000 when proven to be true.
He stated, "We have introduced a whistle blowing policy in the university where anyone, staff or student, that can help the institution to curb the following vices and when proven to be true, we will pay such persons N100,000.
"Report of the following vices among others will be rewarded: payment of money for marks, rape cases, sex-for marks, cultism and impersonation."
According to him, a help line has been put in place in the campus and all students and staff are advised to call the line to report any deviant behaviour in the school.
The VC, who disclosed that one lecturer had been suspended and the matter reported to the police over anti-social behaviour, warned the matriculating student to desist from act that could frustrate their careers.
While congratulating the students for their feat, he reminded them that the university does not tolerate anti-social acts.
Ibanga also warned the matriculating students against indulging in social media for negative reasons, adding that anyone found publishing anything concerning the university without obtaining clearance from him or the registrar, would be dealt with.
