he self-styled Military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida's ruinous legacy blighted the potential growth and development of Nigeria. IBB institutionalized corruption has destroyed the future of the Nigerian youths and made them a wasted generation. Babangida's successors (Abacha and Obasanjo) preserved the culture of corruption, and Nigeria may not recover for years to come.

However, when Late MKO Abiola and Obafemi Awolowo frustratingly predicted the nation's current state, none of us who witnessed the sad 'proclamation' thought Nigeria could be this hopelessly declined and bad. The politically deposed Sanusi is recouping his throne, which is sadly a welcome development. Politics of bitterness played historical anomalies in Kano's Emirship and traditional problems. As one of the savvy netizens, Sadiq Saeed, sarcastically and succinctly put it:

"You (Kano) people should continue to mess up your Throne. A Throne that was once respected by all has now become a toy in the hands of your politicians. The people of Kano might not feel the negative effect now, but in the long run, they will when another elected Governor comes with his preferred candidate to be crowned. The circle continues." This is the sad reality on our collective hands. The politicization of religion has manifested again in our traditional institutions and ethnic nomenclature.

Nigeria cum Africa is fast becoming a hobbessian society. Nigeria is a beautiful country with boisterous and intelligent people, but its clerics, business pastors, marabouts, and politicians have turned Nigeria into a culture of anomie and trades. "Life is too short, brutish and nasty" in Nigeria.

Furthermore, how do you explain a situation where a prominent and revered culture is debased? Why do we play politics with our beautiful cultural heritage? Why do our Obas, Emirs, Obis, and others relegate our traditional institutions to brown envelopes and fleeting lifestyles? From the Southwest to Northeast, Southeast to Northwest, and Southsouth, the distasteful scenes in our traditional affairs are very disgraceful and concerning.

A few months ago, Mr. Tortoise, the former President who presided over a Banana republic during his reign, at an event, ridiculed some cowardly and inferior Obas in the Southwest and treated the Ka-bi-ye-si Obas like kindergarten children. Some time ago, some Southwest traditional rulers made a disgraceful subservience pilgrimage to a self-proclaimed and mortal man called a pastor for worldly blessings.

The Ako-ti-ran-ta (heritage looters) and Ako-asa-ta (cultural looters) have sold our traditional heritage to the gods of religions and politicians. In our traditional palaces, poverty, and squalor have reduced a revered traditional institution to beggars-have-no-choice. The imminent reclamation and reinstallation of Sanusi via potential political fiasco is just the beginning of a new beginning in the impending brawl brewing in breweries of politics, religion, and traditional institutions in Nigeria. As a rustic dialectical ingenuity village man would say: "Nigeria has entered one chance." Our collective unending and intractable journey to nowhere is hopelessly raging unabated.
