Who exactly are the Holy Ghost Police? I recently tuned into one of the YouTube segments featuring Aunty Adunni, in which Pastoress and Mummy GO, Aunty Funke, urged folks to contribute a glorious $1,000 seed in Nigeria. I was taken aback and utterly bewildered by the decision to ask for dollar donations in our own homeland!
Meanwhile, the first thing that struck me was: why establish a Holy Ghost Police when the Holy Ghost, with all its divine abilities, can perform spiritual reconnaissance, scout, and apprehend the adversaries of worshippers within the sanctity of Holy Ghost centers or camps?
Oh! We play around too much in Africa, particularly in Nigeria! As a dedicated follower of Aunty Adunni's reawakening and enlightening program, I see how it aims to inform and uplift Nigeria's credulous and religiously gullible masses. Her show has genuinely opened the eyes of many believers and skeptics alike, revealing the darker side of Nigerian religious leadership.
Nevertheless, no one wishes for anyone to endure the psychological turmoil, suffering, and humiliating religious experiences that Aunty Adunni faced at the hands of General Overseer's handlers and eccentric religious figures in Nigeria. However, armed with grace and compassion, she has made it her mission to rescue Nigerians from the harm inflicted by their own religious leaders.
Furthermore, religion has become the opiate of the masses! It often causes devoted believers to put their critical thinking on hold, preventing them from exploring life through the lenses of knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. It’s deeply troubling that some continue to support these religious entrepreneurs, sacrificing their promising futures and intellectual growth in the process at the altar of religious gullibility.
Originally, religion was intended to guide humanity away from vice, fostering harmony, love, and fellowship while striving for spiritual salvation. Yet, this noble purpose has been twisted and undermined. Religion has transformed into a tool of fear, an engine of mental anguish, a means for wealth accumulation, and a vehicle for the adoration of mere mortals. Why would a fellow mortal command another fellow mortal to part with their hard-earned money? This is a million-dollar question begging for nonexistent answers in a religious but ungodly nation. Until the government steps in to curtail religious exploitation in Nigeria, our people will remain vulnerable and innocent victims of spiritual scams.
