t was a match of guts for both teams. A thriller that kept soccer fans at the edges of their seats for the entire duration of the encounter. The "Indomitable Lions" of Cameroun, true to their reputation/billing, notwithstanding their lower quality with regards the Super Eagles, came all out for it. They gave it their all. However, at the end of the day, they fell to the : gusto, determination, fighting spirit, recalcitrance, superior fire power, ruggedness and superior talent of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, in a thriller of a match!
As in recent matches, the Super Eagles were organised in a 3-4-3 formation; that had the following 'actors': Goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali was in goal. He put up a decent and confident performance, till he was injured in the second half. Let's hope he recovers quickly enough to continue with his thus far successful Nations' cup story.
The three central defenders were: Semi Ajayi, alias " The gentleman giant"; Stand-in Skipper William Troost-Ekong, alias "Rock of Gibralter" and " The Kwinkling-tinkling" Calvin Bassey. They together put up a solid performance, and, true to expectations, were the bedrock of the Super Eagles' impregnable defensive line! Calvin Bassey, when he was tactically switched to wing back in the second half, provided the assist for the Super Eagles' second goal. The wing backs were: "The usually brilliant" Ola Aina and "The elegant" Zaidu Sanusi. They performed their roles fantastically : they helped the midfield and attack through fantastic overlapping runs and also defended their lines well. The central midfielders were : "The vivacious" Frank Onyeaka, and, also, the creative part of the mid-field tandem - Alex Iwobi, alias "The dancing Krekel". They in tandem provided the needed mid-field coverage. Alex Iwobi, helped provide the assist that resulted in the second goal to Nigeria. The wingers were: Ademola Lookman and Simon Moses, alias "The Atilogwu dancer".
Ademola Lookman scored the brace that gave Nigeria victory! Kudos to him and the entire team! And, of course, Africa's best player, Victor Oshimen alias " El Magnifico". He lived up to his billing generally, and, specifically, provided the vital assist for the first goal. For that first goal, he made something out of nothing, as a consequence of what in the words of a commentator, is the fact "he gives 120 percent effort to his activities on the field of play"! The substitutes: Francis Uzoho; "Field marshall" Kenneth Omeruo; " The dazzling " Bright Osayi-Samuel and "The lanky striker" Paul Onuachu, all did well, and, also, contributed to Nigeria's victory. In conclusion: The Super Eagles of Nigeria have qualifed for the quarter-finals of the "2023 African Nations' cup competition"! A big congratulations to Coach Peseiro, the technical crew and, of course, to the principal 'actors,' the Super Eagles of Nigeria. Coach Peseiro, has now seen that since the advent of the 3-4-3 /5-4-1 formation, the Super Eagles have given their opponents no opportunity of creating any decent chance to score. Needless saying as a consequence, they have not only kept clean sheets , but, most importantly, have won all their matches! True to the age- old soccer wiseness: "You don't change a winning team", yours sincerely adds " and a winning strategy"! One expects Coach Peseiro to do the right thing, during the course of the Super Eagles' participation at the "2023 African Nations' cup competition". UP SUPER EAGLES ! UP NIGERIA !!!!!!!
