Atlanta, GA, USA
“Today, we have more troops in Washington DC than in Afghanistan and Iraq, defending us from our president”-(A member of Congress on the floor of the US House, during President Donald Trump’s second impeachment debate, January 13, 2021)
oon after white supremacist domestic terrorists attacked the US Capitol, on January 6, 2021, key politicians came out to indulge in a familiar refrain, declaring “this is not who we are as Americans, we are better than this”. Well, they are wrong. Listen to US female soccer superstar, Megan Rapinoe
“This is America. Make no mistake about it. I think we showed very much our true colors. This is not the first time we’ve seen a murderous mob like that. Unleashing a white supremacy mob is nothing new to America, as people of color, black and brown, know very well.”
Yes, Megan is right. White supremacy terrorism has always been part of the American culture. Yes, this is the same America that lynched and hanged Black people on trees just for being black. This is the same America that enslaved Africans and unleashed on the Black race the worst form of man’s inhumanity to man. Enslaved Black people in America were not given their human value; they were just treated like commodities and objects of savagery.
And don’t be fooled into believing that because we are in the 21st century, white supremacists have learnt to behave . No, they want Black people in America to be enslaved forever. They do not even want Black people in America to vote in periodic general elections. And this is where they are in alignment with the present day Republican party.
Some analysts believe that President Joe Biden’s election victory was largely rejected by white supremacists, the core base of Donald Trump’s and the Republican party’s support, because of the coalition that handed the new president his victory. Joe Biden’s election coalition happens to be Blacks, Browns (Latinos) and Liberal Whites. In fact, exit polls in Georgia State showed that President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris won the Peach state with less than 40 percent of White votes. And since white supremacists do not see Black and Brown Americans as “real” Americans, they see validity in Donald Trump’s wild claim that “illegal” votes were counted for Joe Biden. Now, as a reaction to Black America’s contribution to the election of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, the Republican party has launched a scorched earth voter suppression campaign across the country; enacting legislations that aim to make it harder to vote in virtually every state they control. Yet, this shameful scheme to stifle democracy in America is racist in its core; as it basically targets Black people. Republicans know full well that whenever Black America votes Democrats win.
Donald Trump is vile and evil in the extreme. During his second impeachment trial in the Senate, House Impeachment managers made the case that when Donald Trump asked election officials to stop counting the votes as the results started showing he was losing, he knew full well that he does not have the power to stop the counting of votes in the middle of an election result but he just said that to rile up his wild supporters to commit violence. They also noted that the whole idea of Donald Trump lying about election fraud and his election victory being stolen from him , without any evidence whatsoever, was just meant to rile up his supporters and incite them to violence .
Donald Trump makes no secret about his affection for white domestic terrorists. He cultivates and galvanizes them as a standing army for his inordinate ambition to rule America perpetually, as a brutal dictator. The monster proudly shares the twit of a white supremacist terrorist (cow boys for Trump) who said “the only good Democrat is a dead Democrat”, and further invited this same terrorist to the White House and took a photo with him in the Oval office. This is a monster who routinely addresses white supremacist domestic terrorists as “patriots”.
Donald Trump staged a coup, using his white supremacist domestic terrorist army in a futile attempt to overthrow an incoming President Joe Biden’s government, after he was convincingly defeated at the polls. Yet, the Republican party allowed him to get away with it. NBC’s Meet the Press host, Chuck Todd, explained the Republican’s behavior, using Donald Trump’s declaration, that he could stand in the middle of the 5th Avenue and shoot someone and would not lose any of his supporters. Of course, people, at least six, actually died during Donald Trump’s abortive coup in the Capitol
However, Republicans having found Donald Trump alarmingly very popular with their white supremacist base, are now trying desperately to rewrite history concerning the events of January 6, 2021. As represented by Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin, (the guy who went to Moscow on a Republican delegation and asserted that the Russia interference in the 2016 presidential election was “overblown”) , are now arguing that the white supremacist terrorists who stormed the US Capitol on January 6 were “fake” Trump supporters, Antifa, and a sundry list of crazy conspiracy theories, all having nothing to do with Donald Trump. And Ron Johnson, the unabashed white supremacist Senator ,yes, white supremacist Senator ( no apologies) just like Donald Trump, actually called the white supremacist terrorists that invaded the Capitol Hill, patriots, and that he was not afraid of being harmed by them on that day. Of course, as a white supremacist himself and ardent supporter of Donald Trump , he knew they were not coming for him. Then, he said he would have been scared for his life if the invaders were Black Lives Matter protestors, instead. Yet, those Black Lives Matter protestors are not armed; they do not carry nooses around , do not call for anyone to be hanged, even as they are always met with maximum brute force from the police.
Yet, the racist Senator Ron Johnson has been all over the map. At some point he would argue that those invaders of the Capitol Hill on January6th were Antifa and fake Trump supporters. Next, he would say they are patriots who went to Capitol Hill to save democracy, thus implying that they were actually Trump supporters. No tears for Ron Johnson; this is how you fool yourself when you attempt to defend the indefensible.
So when you have an unapologetic racist and maybe more, still under cover, in the United States Senate, you begin to remind yourself how much little has changed in 20th century America.
Republicans and rightwing news outlets, all defenders of the monster, are now portraying the architect of the attack as an innocent victim of Democrats overreach. They are claiming that Democrats just took advantage of the attack to get at their long term fore .Senator Marco Rubio who is desperately trying to acquire Donald Trump’s white supremacist base for his 2024 presidential ambition even went on to blame President Joe Biden for ” using the Capitol Hill’s attack to divide the country”. Those shameless defenders of Donald Trump even claim that the monster never incited anyone to commit acts of violence; that he only called for a peaceful protest. So those revisionists are pretending no one saw the December 19, 2020 twit where Donald Trump advertised “a wild protest” in Washington DC on January 6. What has peace got to do with WILD?.
Senate Republicans themselves proved that they voted to acquit Donald Trump in spite of finding him guilty as charged, only for political reasons. Their leader, the Senate Minority Leader, Mitch McConnell, said so plainly, when on the Senate floor on public television and in front of a global audience, he excoriated Donald Trump for inciting the violent attack on the Capitol. In fact, Mitch McConnell pointedly held Donald Trump squarely responsible for the insurrection at the Capitol when he said the monster “was practically and morally responsible” for the attack and accused him of a “disgraceful dereliction of duty”. So it is both funny and phony hearing those same Senate Republicans turning round to claim that they failed to convict Donald Trump because Democrats could not prove their case. And more laughable is Ted Cruz, the ambitious and attention seeking irritant from Texas, running to Trump Defend team, to inform them that they have won the case; as if Donald Trump’s acquittal had anything to do with the performance of his defense team.
However, because Republican politicians have no conscience and so have no soul not to talk of shame, they continue to lie, trusting their gullible supporters to believe them. And they are right. For continuing to embrace Donald Trump as its leader and standard bearer, even after the January 6 incident, the Republican party has revealed itself as an immoral, racist , and white supremacists party.
Today, America is under siege, not from so-called Islamic terrorists, but from white supremacist domestic terrorists, coveted by Donald Trump and the Republican party ,as their private army which they routinely deploy against the opposition.
Marco Rubio and other Republicans who have been accusing Democrats of trying to turn America into Venezuela should be reminded that we only got here because we had a Republican president who lost an election but refused to leave power instead, staged a violent coup in the nation’s legislative assembly to overturn the election results in desperate attempts to hang on to power. This is the real Venezuela, Marco Rubio! This is now the “America as we know it, Donald Trump’s and Republicans America”. Like Rahm Emanuel, former Chicago Mayor poignantly put it :“Right now the Proud Boys ( white supremacists domestic terrorists) are the precinct captains of the Republican party . The Republican party has fully cemented its reputation as the white supremacist party of America. Donald Trump enabled by the Republican party has torn down the fabric of America and America as we used to know it is no more. Donald Trump has left behind a broken and dangerous nation, infested with a cocktail of white supremacist domestic terrorists, QAnon terrorists, Neo-Nazi terrorists , all working to return America to its ugly racist and primitive past, where Black people were hanged and lynched just for the color of their skin.
Intelligence officials now say the Capitol Hill siege was just the tip of the iceberg of the "cult-like" threat right-wing extremists (white supremacists domestic terrorists) pose to the United States.
However, given the scale, scope and sophistication of the activities of white supremacist domestic terrorists now revealed, the United States government must rethink its homeland security strategy. Maybe, it is time to devote more attention and resources to fighting white domestic terrorism and less of quantum resources to fighting “war on terror” abroad. It is now archaic to continue to use the so-called “lone wolf” term in describing what is going on in the United States today. We now have a well-oiled and organized army of white domestic terrorists, bent on unleashing bloodshed and anarchy on America. Like its twin vice- trumpism, white supremacist domestic terrorism is a cankerworm that has eaten deep into the fabric of America. It is not going away even as the deranged monster and his scandal ravaged family beat a fast retreat to Florida, America’s evil forest of politics.
Now, some people do not want to see us around, but we Black people, have the right of existence in a nation that was built with the sweet and blood of enslaved Africans.
