THE CHRISTIAN WALK

very culture, society and language has its own idea of a Supreme Being. The idea of an Almighty God, who created the heavens and earth, including all that are in them, is universal. From primitive Asia, the jungle of Africa to the voodoo practitioners of Latin America and the Caribbean down to the Himalayas and the egotistical and self-absorbed Western World; there is a common belief in a Great Hand, an All-Knowing God Who created us all. Albeit, how to approach this Great Being had confounded heathen nations before the advent of Christianity. Except for few atheists and agnostics, this universal belief in a Supreme God, who is the Creator of the heavens and earth and all that are in them, is true. "You believe that there is one God, Good! Even the demons believe that, and shudder, "(James 2: 19). Christianity teaches that God Almighty, the Creator of the heavens and earth, had revealed Himself to man through His son, our Lord Jesus Christ. "No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only Begotten Son, who is at the Father's side, has made him known," (John 1: 18). Jesus Christ Himself also clarified this matter when, He as God Almighty in the flesh told his disciples: "Jesus answered: 'Don't you know me Philip, even after I have been among you such a long time? Anyone who has seen me has seen the father, how can you say, "Show us the father? Don't you believe that I am in the father, and that father is in me? The words I say to you are not just my own. Rather, it is the father, living in me, who is doing his work. Believe me when I say that I am in the father and the Father is in me ..." (John 14: 9-11). In the Quran which is the book that lays the foundation of Islam, the religion of Mohammad, Islam says the Name of God Almighty is Allah. The founder of Islam, Muhammad, said this Allah revealed himself to him, and gave him a message to the entire human race, and anyone who does not believe Muhammad and his message of salvation is eternally lost. "And whoso seeketh as religion other than AI-Islam, total surrender to Allah, it will not be accepted from him, and he will be a loser in the Hereafter," (Surah 3: 85).
What Allah is saying here in this Chapter 3 Verse 85 in the Quraán is the all non-Muslims will perish and go to hell for not believing in Allah as the Sovereign Lord of the heavens and earth and all that are in them. When God Almighty appeared to Moses in the Burning Bush, Moses demanded to know the Name of this Great and Awesome God: "I Am who I Am. This is what you are to say to the Israelites "I Am" has sent me to you. Say to the Israelites, 'The Lord the God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac and the God of Jacob has sent me to you. This is my name forever, the name by which I am to be remembered from generation to generation" (Exodus 3: 4-15). It is this same "I Am that I Am" that Prophet Muhammad claimed also spoke to him, I presume and revealed to him the Quran. Islam, which Muhammad later founded, was at the instance of this God, whom he called Allah.
Many of our readers may chuckle: What is in a name after all? Allah is the Arabic name for God Almighty of the Holy Bible, who is also the "I AM THAT I AM," so name does not matter really. After all, what is a name? Other cultures and traditions have different Names for Jehovah God Almighty referring to the God of the Bible and Allah is the same God Almighty in the Quran. But there is plenty in a name, more so when THE NAME concerns the Personality of the Supreme God of both the heavens and the universe. For those of us who were formerly Muslims, before God Almighty brought us to the light through His Grace, we discovered antithetical characteristics in what Allah commands, reveals and says to Muhammad as written in the Quran and what the Holy Bible says. The apparent contradictions between both Allah and God Almighty convinced us the two cannot be one and the same personality being. As you are reading now, over one billion worshippers of Allah are chanting "Allah Akbar" (Allah is greatest) across the globe. Also, over 200 million Muslims by name, belief and orientation are also followers of Muhammad. If this Allah is not the TRUE GOD, it means the lives of these precious souls are lost. What a tragedy! Similarly, at the same time, over one billion human beings on the other hand are in the world today scattered in churches, monasteries, seminaries and other secluded areas praying and worshipping God Almighty and praising, adoring, revering, glorifying and magnifying God. If this "I AM THAT I AM" is not the True God, but it is Allah, as claimed by Muslims, it means these over one billion adherents of the Christian faith are doomed. It means you, a Christian reading this book, have missed the way and you are heading for hell. Or what do you think? After all, can Allah and God Almighty be the same yet contradict each other? The more reason we should reason together with the Holy Spirit as our Teacher, Guide and Guard, to probe into the true personality of this Allah, the Islamic God of the Quran.
We do not have any right to debunk Muhammad's claim that God Almighty appeared to him. When angel Jibril (Gabriel) appeared to Muhammad in the Cave of Hira, his heart was squeezed and commanded to read, but Muhammad was an illiterate. This happened to him three times, and he felt like being choked and finally succeeded in reading the first verse taught him by Jibril as recorded in Surah 96: 1-5: "Read in the name of thy Lord who created, Created man, out of a clot of congealed blood, Read! And thy Lord is most bountiful He who taught (the use of) the Pen taught man that which he knew not." (Surah Al-Alaq (96-1-5). But we have the moral right to probe the identity of Allah, because we are all involved. The Quran just said Prophet Muhammad was sent by Allah to the whole human race, including you and me. Therefore, the personality of Allah is worth probing, because if Allah is truly God, the Christians are automatically lost. If Allah turns out to be a fake, an impostor, impersonator, demon god, then all Muslims, without exception, including Muhammad himself, are all doomed and eternally lost. Definitely, both Christians and Muslims cannot and do not worship the same God, even knowledgeable and "practicing" Muslims themselves say so. A lot is at stake in this matter. Over four billion souls are involved. And we are talking of eternity. Friend, you too are involved, and this matter concerns you. Eternity hangs precariously in the air for precious souls in this regard.
How do we know Allah is not the true Jehovah Lord God Almighty? How do we know the angel Gabriel Muhammad claimed squeezed and choked him was Gabriel who spoke to both Zechariah and the Virgin Mary? (Like I: 1-38). How can we jump to the conclusion that Muhammad was a fake prophet? We should not be hasty in our judgment, neither should we be emotional. At every historical epoch and even in our present day, charlatans and religious racketeers have emerged to draw gullible people to their religion. Many of them claimed to have received divine messages from God through angels and today, many denominations have emerged. But how can we know when a prophet is a prophet of the devil or God? In this matter we have no other authority than the Holy Bible: "See, I am sending an angel ahead of you to guard you along the way and to bring you to the place I have prepared. Pay attention to him and listen to what he says ... Listen carefully to what he says and do all that I say" (Exodus 23: 20-22). That was the True Lord God Almighty we Christians believed in was speaking to the Israelites, His chosen race to make Him known to other nations after Adam and Eve fell in the Garden of Eden. Since this God Almighty knows all things, He quickly gave the Israelites the signs to look for; a red flag for a fake prophet. "You may say to yourself: 'How can we know when a message has not been spoken by the Lord?" If what a prophet proclaims in the name of the Lord does not take place or come true, that is a message the Lord has not spoken. The prophet has spoken presumptuously," (Deuteronomy 18: 21-22). We can't use this as a litmus test for the prophet hood of Muhammad, because throughout his life, he didn't give any prophecy. He didn't leave us with words about the future and so there is no way to test those prophecies or future events since he left none. In fact, the last sermon that Prophet Mohammad preached around 632AD contained no prophecies of predictions. We have reproduced the sermon below as translated from the Arabic Language to English:
Prophet Mohammad's Farewell Sermon Delivered circa 632 AD
"All praise is for God, the Lord of the universe. We seek His help and His forgiveness for all our sins, and we submit our regret and repentance before Him. We seek His protection from the malice of our hearts and from all evils that we have committed. Those who are guided by God to the right path cannot be led astray, and those who are denied guidance by God cannot be guided them to the path of truth.
O! People, listen to me. I do not think that after this year you and I shall ever meet in this place. Therefore, listen to what I am saying to you very carefully and take these words to those who could not be here today. Remember, there is none worthy of being worshipped except God. He is one and has no partner. All sovereignty belongs to Him, and all praise is due to Him. He is the giver of life and death, and has power over all things.
O! people, just as you regard this month, this day, and this city as sacred, so regard the life and property of every Muslim as a sacred trust. Return the goods entrusted to you to their rightful owners. Treat others justly so that no one will be unjust to you. Remember that you will meet your Lord and that He will question you about your deeds. God has forbidden you to take interest/usury (riba) (and) therefore all obligations of interest are henceforth waved. Your capital, however, is yours to keep. You will neither inflict nor suffer inequity. God has ordained that all usury is forbidden. To start with, I give up the usury that is due to my relations. And all interest by debtors to Abbas, my uncle, son of Abd al-Muttalib, is given up.
O! people, it is true that you (men) have certain rights over your women, but they also have rights over you. Remember that you have taken them as your wives only under God's trust and with His permission. If they abide by your rights, then to them belongs the right to be fed and clothed in kindness. Treat your women well and be kind to them, for they are your partners and committed helpers. It is your right that they do not make friends with anyone to whom you do not approve, as well as never be unchaste. O! people, listen to me in earnest. Worship God, perform your five daily prayers, observe the Ramadan fast, and pay your financial obligation (zakah) on your wealth. Perform hajj if you can afford to.
All people are from Adam and Eve. An Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab, and a non-Arab has no superiority over an Arab. A white person has no superiority over a black person, and a black person has no superiority over white person, except for one's piety and good deeds. Know that every Muslim is a brother to every other Muslim, and the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim that belongs to a fellow Muslim, unless it is given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustices to yourselves.
Remember that one day you will appear before God to answer for your deeds. So beware. Do not stray from the path of righteousness after I am gone. O! people, no prophet or messenger will come after me, and no religion will be born. Reason well, therefore, O! people, and understand that words that I convey to you. I am leaving you with the Book of God (the Quran) and my Sunnah (lifestyle and behavior). If you follow them, you will never go astray.
All of those who listen to me pass on my words to others and to others again. May the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O! God, that I have conveyed your message to your people."
These were the final words of Muhammad, the founder of Islam and the messenger of Allah. First, there are contradictions in these words when analyzed critically against the Words of Jesus Christ to His disciples when He was about to go to the Cross and after His Resurrection. Our Lord Jesus Christ made it plain that He was God in the flesh to His disciples and was and still the Messiah of the human race. Read the whole of Chapter of John 17: 1-26 and it would be crystal clear that Jesus Christ was not one of the prophets but THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY HIMSELF. Prophet Mohammad spoke of his sins, regrets, malice and evil of his heart and prayed to Allah above, Jesus Christ said, all those who put their belief and faith in Him have been forgiven and adopted as sons and daughters of the Living God. "I tell you the truth, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned; he has crossed over from death to life," (John 5: 24); For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day," (John 6: 40). See John 6: 47; John 11: 25; Finally, unlike Prophet Mohammad who offered no hope to those who put their faith and belief in him, our Lord Jesus Christ said He was going to heaven to prepare a place for His followers and after the preparation of those heavenly mansions, He would come back and take them to those beautiful and heavenly mansions by Himself. John 14: 1-3: "Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also," (KJV). This is more re-assuring than what Prophet Mohammad offered on the eve of his physical departure from the earth. It is indeed risky to trust his words, especially when he said after he was gone; no prophet would come after him and no religion thus leaving Muslims in utter hopelessness and total helplessness.
The central motif of this last sermon by Prophet Mohammad on the pivotal issue of God's Judgment was good deeds. But Jesus Christ didn't offer salvation based on good deeds or good works, which are tantamount to self-righteousness. After Jesus Christ had fed over 3,000 multitudes with a morsel of food, the people began to look for Him. He knew their hearts and so warned them not to come to Him simply because of the free food but for salvation of their souls. "Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth; you are looking for me, not because you saw miraculous signs but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed his seal of approval," (John 6:26 & 27). Busted, the crowd wanted to justify themselves by asking for the type of good deeds and works they should concentrate on to make it to heaven. "Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" (John 6:28). Undoubtedly, they expected the Lord Jesus Christ to give them a list of "Do's" and "Don'ts" as past prophets had done and tradition had taught them. Earlier on, one of the teachers of the Law had come to our Lord Jesus Christ with the same question: "Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"(Mathew 19:16). Let's see how our Lord Jesus Christ answered the teacher of the law, the multitudes at Tiberius and by extension billions of human beings on earth today who want eternal life. Here was Christ's reply: "Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent," (John 6:29). And who is that One that God has sent? The Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God! How did Prophet Mohammad answer the same question in the Qur'an? Read Surah 42: 15: " So to that religion of Allah invite, O Mohammad, and remain on a right course as you are commanded and do not follow their inclinations but say, "I have believed in what Allah has revealed of the Qur'an, and I have been commanded to do justice among you. Allah is our Lord and your Lord. For us are our deeds, and for you are your deeds. There is no need for argument between us and you. Allah will bring us together, and to Him is the final destination." (Surah Ash-Shu'ra (42:15).
While Jesus Christ emphasized faith and belief in Him, because of His finished work on Calvary when He shed His Blood for the sin of the whole world as John the Baptist testified: "The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, "Look, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world," (John 1: 29) and the Lord Jesus Christ said of Himself; "This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins," (Mathew 26: 28);Prophet Mohammad on the other hand, said every human being will be judged by their good works. Since Prophet Mohammad didn't prophecy or leaves any predictions behind, then the second litmus test to know whether anyone who claimed to speak as a true prophet of the True Lord God Almighty is real or fake is the New Testament. "Dear Friends, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. This is how you can recognize the Spirit of God. Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the anti-Christ which you have heard is coming and even is already in the world," (1 John 4: 1-3). We want to employ these Biblical criteria to ascertain whether Muhammad's Allah is God Almighty. For thorough analyses, we shall be quoting from the Qur'an, the "Sacred" book Allah revealed to Muhammad and also Hadiths.
From historical records, there were 360 gods worshipped in the Arabian world of whom Allah was one during the time of Muhammad (570 A.D. - 632 A.D.). The Quran says in "Khalinat al-Shahadah" literally rendered "La ila illa Allah" meaning, ~'there is no other god except Allah." If Allah is the same God of the Christians, the actions of both must be the same. In other words, what Allah gave to Muhammad as recorded in the Quran must complement what God told Christians in the Holy Bible. What did Allah tell Muhammad to teach his followers and supporters; the Muslims?
First, how did sin enter the world as recorded in both the Qur'an and the Holy Bible? According to the Qur'an, Allah, who created everything, including the angels, proceeded to create Adam and Eve to rule over the earth. After this, Allah created Adam, He called all the angels to bow down and worship Adam. All the angels complied except Iblis (Satan), who accused Allah of injustice. For daring to question Allah, Iblis was cursed and banished from Allah's presence. Ever since, this Iblis has been turning human hearts away from Allah and has been teaching them to be disobedient and rebellious to God. In the Holy Bible, on the other hand, we read that Satan, then known as Lucifer, was a beautiful angel created and endowed with great wisdom, knowledge and understanding. On account of his beauty, he became proud and consequently rebelled against Jehovah Lord God Almighty. But his rebellion failed, and Lucifer, alongside one third of the angels in heaven who joined him in his spiritual "'coup d'état," lost their positions in heaven. They were later flushed out of heaven down to earth. This Lucifer then became Satan, that is; the "Opposer," while his angels became depraved, dirty, unclean and evil now known as demons and we have exposed the kingdom of these rebellious spirits in previous articles in this column. "How have you fallen from heaven, 0 morning star, Son of dawn? You have been cast down to earth you who once laid low the nations. You said in your heart '1 will ascend to heaven. I will raise my throne above the stars of God. 1 will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. 1 will ascend above the tops of the clouds. I will make myself like the Most High.' But you are brought down to the grave to the depths of the pit," (Isaiah 15: 12-15). Why did this once beautiful angel rebel against God Almighty? Again, the Holy Bible supplied the answer: "The word of the Lord came to me saying: Son of man, take up a lament concerning the King of Tyre and say to him, 'this is what the Sovereign Lord says "You were in Eden the garden of God," every precious stone adorned you; ruby, topaz and emerald, chrysolite, onyx and jasper, sapphire, turquoise and beryl. Your settings and mountings were made of gold; on the day you were created they were prepared. You were anointed as guardian Cherub for so I ordained you. You were on the holy mount of God, you walked among the fiery stones. You were blameless in your ways from the day you were created till wickedness was found in you. Through your widespread trade you were filled with violence and you sinned. So I drove you in Disgrace from the mount of God and I expelled you 0 guardian Cherub from among the fiery stones. Your heart became proud on account of your beauty and you corrupted your wisdom because of your splendor. So I threw you to the earth. Imade a spectacle of you before Kings. By your many sins and dishonest trade you have desecrated your sanctuaries. So I made a fire come out from you and it consumed you, and I reduced you to ashes on the ground in the sight of all who were watching. All the nations who knew you are appalled at you. You have come to a horrible end and will be no more," (Ezekiel 18: 10-19).
