It was a passionate and articulate performance Cicero would have been proud of. In his speech, he encapsulated what was wrong with Nigeria and some of the things that could be done about it. It was indeed a breath of fresh air to see a Nigerian rise above his primary identity and focus on Nigeria as a country.
Over the same period I have also watched very dangerous and inciting diatribe by many people, who should know better, but instead, chose to use their speech to sow the seeds of hate in the hearts of their people.
I have watched as the president refused to respond to Fulani terrorism the way an honest leader would. I watched as president Buhari ignored the cries of Benue State Governor about the ethnic cleansing in his state by Fulani terrorists.
I remain perplexed at the refusal of the Buhari government to tackle the killings by Fulani terrorists in southern Kaduna and the so called unknown gun members in south east.
I wonder why the president has refused to publish names of those sponsoring terrorism in Nigeria and bring them to justice. Why would a government adopt such an attitude towards people sponsoring terrorism in the country?
All these leave me wondering where the loyalty of the Buhari government lies and why Buhari is watching the killings of Nigerians and not reacting the way he should.
Nigeria is indeed sitting on a precipice, with a president who care more about his tribe and religion than Nigeria.
Nigeria reminds me of the early days of Rwanda road to genocide.
In Nigeria, a president turns a blind eye to ethnic cleansing by his kinsmen and tells the world that crimes being committed by Fulani herds men are being committed by bandits from Libya. The question is why is the president deceiving the world by misrepresenting fact?
In Nigeria we have a security council full of Fulanis who have failed to stem the wave of ethnic cleansing being committed by Fulanis. They have presided over the humiliation of Nigerian army by Fulani terrorists.
We have a government where northerners and Muslims are over represented, contrary to the provisions of the imperfect constitution.
We have a Nigeria where the army and police are occupying Igbo land and subjecting the people to extortion and harassment thereby fuelling the desire for independence and at the same time preparing to kill anybody who wishes to assert his right for self determination.
I hope that Nigerians can pause and think. No nation can survive when the government treats terrorists the way Buhari had treated Fulani terrorists and Boko Haram members.?
Nigeria is indeed on the Road to catastrophe. ![]()
