HOW YOU CAN BE MADE HOLY (RIGHTEOUS) TO ENTER HEAVEN (Revised)

eaven is the dwelling place of God.

Every human being knows instinctively that one day he/she will die. I do not know however whether everyone knows that there is judgment after death.

The Bible is however clear about it in the book of Hebrews 9: 27. It says "It is appointed unto men once to die and after this the judgment"

The judgment is instant after death.

As the body is given up to the mother earth, which he is made of; the spirit, will either go to Paradise, which is a place of rest and joy or go to Hades, which is a place of torment that has a beginning but has no end.

But the person who wants to end up in heaven requires that he must be holy while on earth because the Bible in the book of Hebrews 12:14 says that 'without holiness, no one will see the Lord'

But God has judged all men ever born to be unholy and unrighteous.

The Old Testament of the Bible in Isaiah 64:6 says that "--We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness is filthy rag-----"

The New Testament of the Bible in the book of Romans 3:23 equally says that "--All have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

Clearly, with these statements, all men are bound for hell. We all are candidates of hell.

But do you want to live with God in His city, which is so beautiful beyond description at the end of your sojourn on this earth? A place where there is no sickness or pain or poverty or do you want to live in hell with Satan which is all darkness and where all the inhabitants burn day and night?

But to live with God in heaven requires that you are holy.

So the topic of this sermon is "How You can be made Holy and righteous so that you can enter Heaven after Death "

Let us pray

Do you want to live with God in His city, which is so beautiful beyond description at the end of your sojourn on this earth? A place where there is no sickness or pain or poverty or do you want to live in hell with Satan which is all darkness and where all the inhabitants burn day and night?

But the person who wants to end up in heaven requires that he must be holy while on earth because the Bible in the book of Hebrews 12:14 says that 'without holiness, no one will see the Lord'

But God has judged all men ever born to be unholy or unrighteous.

The Old Testament of the Bible in Isaiah 64:6 says that "--We are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness is filthy rag-----"

The New Testament of the Bible in the book of Romans 3:23 equally says that "--All have sinned and come short of the glory of God"

I myself know I am not righteous. Your conscience yourself tells you that you are not perfect or holy.

You and I are therefore bound for hell.

The Bible in the book of Ezekiel 18: 20 states clearly "The soul that sins shall die---" So we all are candidates of hell.

But God is kind and will not be happy that His creations are separated from Him and go to hell.

Consider the love of parents for their children. If normal parents will not want any evil to befall their children, think of what length, God will go to protect His creation from going to hell.

So right from the moment our first parents broke the law, God had pronounced the way of escape for him i.e how He will reconcile him (man) to Himself.

As He (God) pronounced various judgments for all that were involved in the disobedience, namely the evil one (Lucifer), who led the creation of God astray and those who were led astray themselves; Adam and Eve, who listened to the devil, He pronounced how man would be reconciled to Him.

We know this in the Old Testament book of Genesis 3:15.

God said that He will put enmity between Satan and the Woman and between the seed of Satan and the seed of the woman. The seed of the woman shall bruise the head of Satan and the seed of Satan shall bruise the seed of the woman.

God had warned our fore parents of the consequences of breaking a commandment He gave them. "---in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die." (Gen.2:17). It was not to be only physical death but the worst; 'spiritual death' Meaning "Eternal separation from God" In other words "Hell"

The only remedy required is shedding of blood because it is only blood that can appease God.

God said in the book of Leviticus 17:11 "-------- for it is the blood that makes an atonement for the soul"

It means that another life must be sacrificed to redeem a life that is condemned.

The seed of the woman talked about in Genesis 3:15 is Jesus. It is Him who would redeem man with His blood.

The seed of Satan bruised Jesus heel at the appointed time. Jesus was killed by the seed of Lucifer, but it was only a bruise as it was not possible to kill Him (Jesus). He resurrected on the third day. His (Jesus) blood that was shed is the only perfect atonement, acceptable to God, which will make man holy and which alone can overturn his death verdict.

This is an incomprehensive act of kindness by God.

Not the labour of your hands (good deeds or behaviour) or your most fervency of any religious worship or practice can ensure your place with God after you die.

But the shedding of blood of Jesus was not to happen immediately. It was to be fulfilled hundreds of years later.

But before this salvation plan of God for man was fulfilled, God put into place in the interim, a set of ceremonial rules, otherwise known as rules for worship and others, which are classified as civil and moral.

Violating a number of the laws attracted death penalty and other severe and harsh punishments.

The ceremonial laws (rules for worship) were cumbersome, consuming and burdensome.

Moses claims that God gave him those rules on Mount Sinai.

A close study of those laws are very similar to what we today know as Sharia. Moses pronounced those laws 450 years before Jesus was born while Sharia came 570 years after Christ and about 2000 years after Moses first pronounced them.

The era of law gave directives on how to pray, what preparations to make before doing; the number of times which prayers must be made on daily basis, what direction to face during prayers, what words to recite during prayers etc.

It also gave directives of what to wear and what not to wear, what to eat and what not to.

The very burdensome ones are the various stipulated sacrifices made to atone for sins which were committed deliberately and those committed unintentionally (by mistake).

The shedding of blood had its origin with the sacrifice of ram, which Abraham made on mount of Moriah 1,700 years before Christ. (Genesis 22).

There were the sacrifices done on daily basis, there were those done on weekly basis, there were those done at the sight of the moon and there were those done on yearly basis, which were referred to as "annual assemblies"

The number of animals involved in these sacrifices were enormous. I wonder how we will have coped had it remained like this today; if Jesus did not come.

The women were worse off. The inconveniences were terrible.

They were unclean for several days every month and they had to perform the purification ceremonies at each occasion, at the end of their uncleanliness.

The same thing applied after they had a child. (Lev. 12:2-5; Lev.15: 2-23).

One needs to read the details of these rituals in order to appreciate what yoke they were.

Those sacrifices and purification ceremonies involved killing of large numbers of different kinds of animals-bulls, rams, goats, sheep and different kinds of birds at each occasion not to talk about the number of bags of flour and barrels of oil involved.

Mistakes were not allowed.

Mistakes brought instant death for the worshippers on occasions.

In order to have a comprehensive understanding of this subject, the reader is encouraged to look for a copy of my book, titled "Law, Grace & Faith"

Paul, a one time zealot of these rules after he came to the full knowledge of the truth described those rules for worship as "a curse "or in the Living Bible "doom of the impossible system" (Gal.3: 10).

Peter the leader of the apostles described them as "yoke, which our forefathers nor we were unable to bear" (Acts.15: 10 ).

Actually God set those rules for the purpose to making us see the depth of His holiness and the extent of holiness, which He demands from us. They allow us to understand what great sinners we are. For the more we know of God's laws, the clearer and obvious our shortcomings become (Rom 3:20).

Those sacrifices (offerings) i.e. the blood of several animals that were spilled under the law, were just a foretaste, a shadow, a caricature (ridiculously poor imitation), a mock practice or mimic of the real thing that would take away man's sins. They were a dim foretaste of the good things Christ would do for us (Heb. 10:1).

"This system of law was to last only until the coming of Christ, the Child to whom God's promise was made"! (Gal. 3:19).

Apostle Paul's argument was that, were those sacrifices profitable and able to cleanse man's sins, then it would not need to be repeated year after year.

"The sacrifices under the law system were repeated again and again, year after year, but even so, they could never save those who lived under their rules, if they could, one offering would have been enough; the worshippers would have been cleansed once for all, and their feeling of guilt would be gone-------It is because it cannot be possible for the blood of bulls and goats really to take away sins" (Heb. 10:1-3).

The rules for worship included annual pilgrimages. The Lord Jesus responded to this obligation by saying to the woman by the well side in Samaria "Woman, believe me, the hour is near, when you shall neither in this mountain or in a particular country or city, worship the father……., the hour comes and now it is when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for God is a spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and truth" (Extract from John 4:21-24).

This became possible immediately He (Jesus) offered Himself as the sacrifice for sin. His blood met all the requirements of the law of worship. And ever since, it became a useless effort to think or adapt any particular pattern or any particular place by which and where we compulsorily have to worship God, or that prayer is best answered by God in a particular city or location but according to the dictate of the Holy Spirit, which can be anyhow, anywhere and everywhere.

By taking the burden of religious rules upon Himself, Jesus said: "---my yoke is easy, and my burden is light" (Matt 11:30). Without gainsay (contradiction), the yoke of the law system was not easy neither is its burden light.

The fact that Christ rose from the dead is the assurance that though we (man) die physically as a result of our sins and the sin, which we inherited from our first parents, we who believe in Him shall rise to a life eternal with God and that would bring an end to our separation from Him.

So you who is a sinner can be made righteous and holy and be able to live with God after death by accepting the act of mercy of God paid for, with the blood of Jesus.

You can now be made holy and considered righteous if you will come to Jesus with a heart of gratitude for taking the punishment due to you and Him dying in your place because of your sin.

It is faith in the name of the One whose blood was shed and by accepting this plan of salvation with thanksgiving alone that you can be saved from the doom of hell.

But to be made holy, requires that you confess Jesus for what He did for you.

The Scripture says:

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in your heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved"

10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Romans 10:9-10).

So it is all an act of mercy of God and it is called 'grace'.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

9 Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephes. 2:8-9).

After this, you become a new creation. Love for all kinds of sinful behavior do no longer appeal to you (2Cor. 5: 15-17).

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. (Romans 8:1).

As simple as this? Yes. As simple as that.

But that old enemy of mankind would always deny this and instead make you to believe that you must be busy and be occupied with certain religious practices in order to be made acceptable to God. He will teach that salvation cannot be achieved so simply and would introduce complexities to keep you busy on things that actually may make sense but which are either vain or just cannot appease God to qualify you for salvation, whatever the amount of efforts you put into it; such things, which Paul refers to as 'voluntary humility or pious self denial' (Colossians 2: 16-18)

So you see people walk bare footed on very hot roads; you see people not take bath and leave their teeth not cleaned nor hair combed when fasting, thinking that such practices appease God in any way.

The best righteous deed of the most righteous man cannot qualify him to be justified before God.

The Pharisees in the days of Jesus boasted of their religious services and acted pious, Jesus educated them of the depth of the law. Jesus said 27 You have heard the commandment that says, You must not commit adultery28 But I say, anyone who even looks at a woman with lust has already committed adultery with her in his heart (Matt. 5: 27-28)

With all these eye opener, I want to hear one man born of a woman, say he has never lusted after a woman, that person is a liar and a hypocrite.

James, the brother of Jesus and the early pastor in Jerusalem expatiated it this way:

10 For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God's laws. 11 For the same God who said, "You must not commit adultery," also said, "You must not murder."[e] So if you murder someone but do not commit adultery, you have still broken the law.

With this, I want to hear a man or a woman who wants to say then that he or she is righteous and qualify for heaven.

It is my prayer that you will reason with all the facts about the salvation of your soul, which I have exposed to you in this sermon rather than ignore it. If you die without taking the right steps as I explained it here, you will have no other opportunity to make amendments, it will be too late, you will be on your way to perdition.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him (John 3:16,36).

As for me, I have accepted the salvation plan of Jesus. If on the judgement day, Jesus is not the visa I need to enter heaven, I will have lost nothing. But to reject Him now, get to heaven and Jesus name is the required visa, then I will be the most miserable of all men. I implore you to do likewise.

Let us pray
