(Message for all women in Nigeria; in position of authority and in non authority)

appreciate women because I know their worth. So I celebrate them again today on their anniversary. May God bless the person who suggested the idea of setting a day apart in the year to honor them. So I am delighted to felicitate with and address them again on this their day.

Unfortunately not all of them are worth celebrating. But that is another idea of Mother's day. It is that while we appreciate and honor those women who are worthy of honour, we encourage those who are found wanting to live up to expectation.

Nigeria as of today is in danger of total collapse. It will be very insincere of anyone to say otherwise. Whichever angle one looks at it, Nigeria is in danger of annihilation. We are in a situation where life of human beings means nothing to many people, human life is no longer sacrosanct. Killing of fellow citizens for making money ritual has become extremely rampant; worse, among the youths in particular. Other than rampant ritual killings, others kill because they believe that other people but themselves alone are infidels. But who told them they are clean and who made them judges? Other people burn entire villages and the villagers in order to occupy their lands. People are kidnapped for ransom and instances still kill their victims after collecting ransom or where relations of victims are unable to raise the ransom.

Not a few citizens have been decimated and killed as a result of hunger and lack of medical facilities due to reckless stealing of the commonwealth by Politicians and Civil Servants in opportune positions. Yet these are people who swear an oath to build the nation. But they have ruined it due to their greed. For me however the situation can be remedied and that is why I am always looking at who can be beckoned to, to take on the big assignment of rehabilitating the nation.

The entire citizens of Judah in exile were once to be wiped off in what would have been the first holocaust. Every Jew was to be killed by the sword. The edict had been signed but a beautiful queen used all she possessed and she saved the situation. She put her life on the line. She said "If I die I die" She is by the name Esther.

The deed of Queen Esther in saving a nation in danger of annihilation is what I want to address Nigerian women on, this Mother's day and to challenge them to act swiftly to save Nigeria from collapse. So, the topic of my sermon on this Mother's day is "Queen Esther & a Nation in danger of Extinction.

Let us pray.

The story surrounding queen Esther is both fascinating and interesting. And it is challenging to women who God has opportune to get into position of authority and that is the reason for bringing her to your attention today for you to prayerfully emulate.

Esther had a very humble beginning no doubt. She was an orphan. In the book of the Bible named after her, Esther 2:5-6 and Jer. 29:1-2 we read that her cousin, Mordecai who became his foster father after she became an orphan was taken captive to Babylon by king Nebuchadnezzar in the second siege, estimated to be in the year 597 BC. From this we can assume that this was the time Esther's parents were also taken captive. She could not have been born.

In 539 BC, Babylon fell to an alliance of Media and Persia (Daniel 5) and Darius of Mede became king. That same year (Daniel 10), Cyrus of Persia subjugated Media and took over the reign of the Kingdom, and same year he issued a decree allowing all Jews who desired, to return to their home land (2 Chr. 36:22-23; Ezra 1:1-4).

Among those who were left behind in captivity was Mordecai. He served in the palace of king Ahasuerus who reigned over a vast empire of 27 provinces extending from India to Ethiopia (485 - 465 BC) (Esther 1:1). The seat of his kingdom was at Shushan (Esther 1:2).

Esther was described as very beautiful and lovely (Esther 2:7). By divine providence, she became the queen of the kingdom (Esther 2:15-18). I want you to go and read chapter two of the book of Esther to understand how it came about. It is absolutely a divine providence, how God worked ahead by putting her into the position of affluence in order to prevent the catastrophe which was to befall her people. The story can be likened to how God made Joseph to have relocated to Egypt before the great famine started.

Mordecai, Esther's foster father incurred the wrath of Haman, the second in command to king Ahasuerus (Xerxes). Mordecai refused to obey the order, which mandated everyone at the King's gate to bow and reverence him whenever he passed by (Esther 3:2). His reason being a Jew (vs 4).

This action of Mordecai infuriated Haman, not in small measure and he planned to kill not only Mordecai but the entire Jews in the empire. He made the king to sign the edict to wipe out all the Jews in the empire. A date for the extinction in all the 127 provinces was set, and it fell on March 07 of the year that followed (Esther 3:7,13). All Jews, young and old, children and women should all be killed on that date, and their properties (spoil) taken over by the murderers. Haman put the cost of the project at 12 million Dollars to be met from his own pocket but the king not only sealed the decree with his own ring but wrote off the money (3: 9-11).

Esther was in the palace and was unaware of the happenings outside while Mordecai and all other Jews were mourning and fasting. Mordecai sent word to Esther to plead with her husband, the king for their lives. Esther replied that it was not possible for her to meet the king except the king calls for her, a thing that had not happened in 30days. Death was the penalty for flouting the rule. Esther explained. Mordecai replied with a terse letter. It reads

"Don't think for a moment that because you're in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. 14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?" (Esther 4:13-14)

This is the challenge I have for you mothers on this your day, Nigerian mothers, whose husbands sit in the corridor of power, that you rise up quickly and follow in the footpath of queen Esther and save Nigeria promptly from total collapse. Your Excellency, the First lady of the federation of Nigeria, are you there? Who knows if perhaps you were made the first lady of Nigeria for just a time as this? Minister's wives, Governors' wives, Law Makers wives, wives of military officers, Women Ministers and Women legislators in Abuja and the states, I challenge you as Mordecai challenged Esther "Who knows if perhaps you were made queens for just a time as this?" The chairperson, National Council for Women Societies, Are you there? Can it be for the rescue of Nigeria that God chose you to be the Nigeria women leader at a time like this?

Please, kindly organize yourselves and swiftly go into action to stop the annihilation of Nigeria. Nigeria has sufficient money to make Nigeria great and make Nigerian citizens happy. Poor, greedy, selfish and reckless management of those in government is our doing and it will wipe the nation off in a little time from now.

The rampant vile, and individuals looking for means of survival; fair or foul, crooked and fraudulent, including murder, which we are witnessing meanwhile is the result of reckless management of the commonwealth

Wives of Commissioners, wives of Permanent Secretaries, wives of Directors of all categories, I talk to you today as Mordecai spoke to Esther, please speak to your husbands to stop the carnage of the commonwealth.

The wife of my Pastor in the US agreed that we men are the head but admitted that they, the wives are the neck. This statement must be true because if you watch carefully, where a home lacks peace, it must be that the head is not allowing it to be maneuvered by the neck. My mother of blessed memory had three of us, men, she had the wisdom of speaking to our wives and that was how we achieved.

There is rarely anything a woman wants to achieve with men that fails. Kindly use your feminist gift of God to take the reproach of Nigeria away. It is a righteous and godly project.

But in order to achieve this goal, you too must guide and lower your taste. Please remember that you brought nothing to the world and you will take nothing out with you. Most of the properties, which you are acquiring meanwhile will in no time go rotten after you die. The houses will become a waste land. You will even have observed that most of the things you have acquired are just lying idle or waste. How long will you watch your fellow citizens suffer unnecessarily?

Kindly organize yourselves and start a big campaign to rescue the nation from the reproach in which we are presently in. With God all things shall be possible

For your husbands to know that you are serious on this matter, give them a deadline date, which they will end the reproach of Nigeria after which you will deny them, their night enjoyment if they do not act.

Not too long ago, I watched on the TV, the wives of our state Governors on a visit to the first lady far away in Dubai to celebrate her birthday with her. I have no quarrel with it but how best it could have been that they use such a gathering to work out plans about how the wealth of Nigeria will go round. Young men cannot wed at the right time any longer because they have no means to run a family. Many of them have therefore gone into fraudulent businesses.

The message of Mordecai to her foster daughter, queen Esther is most concise and profound.

"Don't think for a moment that because you're in the palace you will escape when all other Jews are killed. 14 If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just a time as this? (Esther 4:13-14)

15A At last Esther decided to dare the consequences of the law, which disallowed her to go to the king, except when sent for. She sent a reply to Mordecai: 16 "Go and gather together all the Jews of Susa and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. My maids and I will do the same. And then, though it is against the law, I will go in to see the king. If I must die, I must die." 17 So Mordecai went away and did everything as Esther had ordered him.

With fasting and prayer, Esther got the favor of God and the majesty, her husband king and the edict to annihilate the Jews was cancelled. In super answer to her prayers, the enemy of the Jews, Haman was put on the 50ft deep gallow, which he had intended to hang Mordecai.

Women in high positions, wives of very important personalities who are in the corridor of power of Nigeria, I challenge you to work together and swing into action today. You are the mothers of the nation, turn Nigeria to one of pride.

I speak to other women who are not in position of power, kindly watch over your youths and other children in the work force. Do not stop to counsel them to live within their means. Implore them to be patient and not to pursue money in ungodly way. I will always tell the story of an old clergy, who had a son, a high military officer. The old clergy always caution his highly placed son to make sure that only his monthly wages sustain all he was doing.

I speak to you mothers who have children in the University, visit them on their campuses without notice, to observe the kind of life they are living. I understand that some of you women do not see anything wrong with the yahoo activities, which your children are indulged in. Let me tell such women that you are simply digging the pit of their destruction. Hold prayer sessions with your children when they are young, when they grow old, they will not depart from the path.

E je ki a gbadura
