FROM THE PREACHER"S LENSES
|Thursday, April 4, 2019|
hat can be the expectations of citizens from their government? Citizens who have been overwhelmed with poverty.
People are hard up financially. Infrastructures that can promote their businesses are broken down. Repairs are neglected, actually abandoned, while the leaders of the previous profligate governments and their sycophants live in affluence and luxury. I am referring to the states.
Citizens can no longer maintain their children in schools. The children have been pulled out. The previous governments have stolen the people's common wealth with an attitude of 'what can they do?' Several projects are abandoned except those that will line their pockets with Naira and Dollar.
Students graduate, yet return to their parents to be fed. Those that are employed are on nuseating wages unlike in the past when parents who had a graduate child were free from poverty for life.
Other people in other jobs were laid off due to the ruin of infrastructures that can support their companies.
All things owned by the government are in dilapidation and those that can yield some revenue for the states are alleged to have been sold to some individuals in the government.
So the people prayed to their God, conducted several Town Hall meetings round the states and got rid of the self-serving governments with great zeal, using the ballot box.
With those scenarios in mind, what then will be the expectations of the populace from the new Government?
So, my preaching today and for the up-coming several weeks centers on "The Expectations of Citizens from the New Government.
But let us in the meantime ask this hour to be committed into the hands of the Lord.
The Expectations of Citizens from the New Government.
It will not be unexpected if the expectations are high by the people who have suffered so much neglect for many years in the hands of the previous wicked governments and eventually were helped by God in throwing them out, where some people did, with risks to their lives.
The expectations will be high from the people to translate them from poverty to wealth.
But do the new governments have the magic wand to meet the expectations of the people in a rapid manner, which we desire?
I am not a member of any of the new governments in the states and I do not know any of them, neither do I seek to know them.
But with all we are reading in the news i. e. the way the profligate past governments ran the states, with the treasuries emptied and not only sacked and carried away but thrown into great debts, we must earnestly seek the face of God in order to achieve the desired rapid translation from poverty unto wealth.
The Bible is our solution and the solution hangs on three tenets, on which I have hinged my campaign for a country, which is able to sustain her citizens. These three tenets or pillars, alone can bring comfort to us and through which our journey to heaven can be made easier.
The first of the tenets is found in the book of Isaiah 1:19, which says "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land"
The second is found in the book of 1Samuel 15: 22 "--------------------------? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
These first two tenets emphasize one word "Obedience"
Obedient to what?
The obedience is to what is found in the third tenet of my campaign as found in the book of Proverbs 14:34 "Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people"
And who is to comply with the command of obedience to 'righteous living'? Is it only the people in government? Or is it only by the citizens?
No, I do not see the Bible excuse any group of the populace. The command to righteous living is for everyone; the people in government, the governed, Priests and the Laities.
I say it often, what God had told me long ago that everyone in a civilian government other than a military government must be upright because however righteous or godly or determined and disciplined, any head of government, whether at the Federal or State can be, they cannot succeed in the midst of ungodly majority. Such a righteous president or Governor will be speedily frustrated and impeached by the ungodly majority, particularly when the Law makers at Abuja and in the States remain ungodly. Reasons for impeachment cannot be in want. The Bible says that
Likewise, if the populace is righteous and godly but the people in government are unrighteous, then the people will groan in fulfillment of the word of the old sage, king Solomon, who said in Proverbs 29: 1-2 that when the godly are in authority, the people rejoice but when the wicked are in power, the people groan"
The Bible recognizes the merit of righteous men to be at the helm of affairs of administration of any nation, State, Local government and the different towns and villages.
Prov. 29 vs 7 says it: if the godly is in government, they will consider the plight of the poor while the wicked cannot care less.
Therefore, my counsel to all the people of the States, particularly those states that have suffered many years of negligence and their treasury not only looted but thrown into debts but now, have received the kindness of God with a new government is to begin, by laying the foundation of their house on the counsel of God, which is righteousness by everyone; government and the governed.
In certain of my previous broadcasts, I have explained that the foundation to build a virile, strong nation, where every citizen lives in happiness, have sufficient to eat, have a decent place to live etc depends on the roles of certain groups of people; first, the family; second, the government and thirdly, the Spiritual Leaders.
A decent nation starts from a home with family value, where the children right from their youths are led to God.
The last group of people who God expects to help build a strong nation where no one is oppressed, are the Spiritual Leaders, if they will do their duty righteously, who, with no intention of material gains will teach the word of God in truthfulness, not twisting the word to please any group of people.
Let us return to the topic of this sermon, which is the expectations of citizens who have the courage to throw away the previous governments that have decimated them very badly.
Do we expect them to ask us to come to the government house and line up to receive money every month? Or are we expecting that some delegated officials of the government should be visiting every ward and community to dole money to every member of the family in the ward?
I want to tell you that no government in the world does such a thing. But even if these newly elected State governments in Nigeria want to do such a thing, they are certainly not capable to do it, based on what we are reading in the news that the previous state governments, not only have they emptied the treasury and even sold the castle treasury itself, they have thrown the states in serious debts.
The previous profligate governments have borrowed so much that any forth coming subventions from Abuja will go majorly in paying debts and I expect the new governments to ask us to be patient with them.
What can be a little reprieve is if those new governments quickly take steps to recover whatever they can from the previous members of the profligate governments before they escape from the country.
I repeat, I do not know personally anyone in any of the states that have new governments in place neither do I seek to know them. I am only doing my work as a Spiritual leader who God commissioned to work it out spiritually in order to make Nigeria becomes a proud nation, which can be respected in the comity of nations and Kwara State to be a model for all the states in the Federation.
Why do I single out Kwara state? Kwara state is to me as Bethlehem and Nazareth is to Jesus Christ. Also, Jesus asked His Disciples who are Jews to commence evangelism from their home, Jerusalem, which is the birth place of His earthly ancestor, king David; as the saying goes "Charity begins at home" Kwara State is my own Jerusalem.
God has answered the prayer of my 'Nehemiah Project' in some of these states and I am now starting the 'Ezra project' in order to consolidate the gains of the 'Nehemiah project' to benefit us for the longest time.
Let us pray
