WHICHEVER TYPE OF GOVERNMENT: ONLY ONE THING IS IMPORTANT

ven if, today, we adopt the Parliamentary system of Government, except our hearts are right for the nation, it will make no difference. Poverty will still envelope citizens and the reproach of the nation will remain. As of today the reputation of Nigeria is abysmal in the comity of nations.

When in the past we operated the parliamentary system of Government and citizens were comfortable, it was not the system per se that made it possible but the people who ran it. They ran it without consideration for their personal gain but for the progress of the nation and for the well-being of the citizens.

At the time of Parliamentary system of government and certain years of military rule, students who attended the Government run schools and University students lived like kings. The Principals of those schools and the Vice Chancellors of the Universities could pocket the money voted for the running of the institutions but they did not. The progress of the nation was their goal and desire.

What did the fathers who ran the government of old have at death? Virtually nothing, which their salary could not explain.

But today's rulers must have mansions in all the cities of the world. The Law makers must ride in a N60m jeep and bullet proof vehicles. They and other Government officials must each have a personal aircraft. So what money remains to care for the poor populace? They cannot be bothered whether someone, somewhere has food to eat or not.

Today, the most lucrative job in Nigeria is 'Politics' More lucrative than money making ritual.

Our solution is for every citizen to hate greed, determined by the enabling power of God not to take more than what belongs to him and have a desire for other people to live comfortably.

The late Apala maestro, Ayinla Omo Wura sang that the only sweat thing is 'to eat together"

In addition, it is important to do all, which is necessary to make Politics unattractive so that only the citizens who have the mind of taking the country high will do politics.

This is why I continue to ask you to appeal to your Imam and Pastor to lead us in a nation-wide Solemn Assembly to commit us to a life of Godliness.
