PRAYER POINTS FOR AUSTRALIA

ne of our cardinal goals in organizing International Gathering of Eagles conferences is to raise godly altars of prayer for nations and mobilize the national leaders of such countries to pray for their nation with greater zeal and enthusiasm.

We arrived in Sydney, Australia, on October 6 for IGOE 2023, the third out of a 5 nation Asian tour. God has helped us to hold the conference in Japan and Indonesia. He will help us here and enable us to finish strong in Singapore and Malaysia in the weeks ahead.

I am motivated to raise these prayer points by a simple experience I had during my connecting flight from Malaysia to Australia. I engaged my seat partner, a 24 year old man who confessed to being a Muslim to tell me about Islam. He said, among other things “Islam prays five times a day.” I asked him, “do you pray five times a day?” he said - “you know everyone is so busy nowadays we don’t do that faithfully any more,” he said “just like you Christians you don’t go to church on Sunday’s anymore you are too busy”

Australia is both a country and a continent. The continents are the major landmasses of the world. Australia is a massive island in the Pacific. It's way too large to be part of Asia, so it's counted as its own continent.

A country is an area under the legal authority of a single government, occupied by the citizens of that country. Since the entire Australian continent is under the control of a single government, Australia is a country as well as a continent.

With 43.9% of Australia being Christians 11.23 million out of 25.6 million, unfortunately Christianity is on the decline, 38.9% have no religion, Islam (3.2%), Hinduism (2.7%), Buddhism (2.4%) Let us strongly intercede that Jesus shall reign in this “brilliant”(description of the nation at their airport) country. God bless Australia - a beautiful country.

1. Prayer of Thanksgiving.

Thank God for Australia from the historical humble beginning of human settlement of aborigines 30,000 years ago, to 1606 and 1642, when the Dutch charted most of the continent's northern, western and southern coasts, to European discovery of and settlements of 1850 the nation and the continent has continue to grow strong economically and in power.

2. Pray to reverse Christian decline.

In 1971, Christians represented 86.2% of the Australian population. In 2021, Christians were down to 43.9% of the population. Many factors, including improvements in education and prosperity, along with internal institutional issues, such as the child abuse scandals, the role of women, and issues of sexual ethics, are responsible. Let us pray that there will be a reversal of this “evil” trend. That many will turn to Christ again. The churches shall be filled with enthusiastic and energetic youth. We surely don’t want what is going on in England to happen to Australia, in England the church buildings are being sold to people of other faiths and as theatres. “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Prov 14:34.

3. Pray for revival and gospel explosion.

There were revivals associated with the name of Geoff Bingham in Australia in the 1960s and 1970s. The Billy Graham crusades to Australia of 1959, 1968, and 1979 were perhaps the closest Australia has ever come to a revival. In 1959 alone, more than 130,000 people made a commitment to Christ. The social effects were astonishing, including drops in alcohol consumption and crime. Thousands of people responded to the call of God to plant churches, went to the mission field, and trained for Christian ministry. Let the body of Christ arise and call on God according to Matt 18:19 for a massive revival again in Australia. Let God raise revivalists for Australia again.

4. Pray for restoration of families and rebirth of sexual integrity.

We need God to restore homes.

Sexual integrity is no different – it should match our values, our words, and our beliefs. Let us pray that the families will value God, fear God,reference God, and also bring the children and youth to the understanding that they belong to God. The family is the smallest unit of a nation if the family derails the nation derails. They are bought with a price. The need to run away from sexual perversion, pornography and abnormal sexual orgies of this generation. “Flee the whoredom; every sin -- whatever a man may commit -- is without the body, and he who is committing whoredom, against his own body doth sin” 1 Cor 6:18.

5. Pray for church leaders.

Prayer to raise an Eagle Generation of Christians across Australia. My host ( Pastor Basil Akwete ) and I had a substantial time to go through the pain the church leaders are facing in Australia. Lack of faithful brethren. The few remnant of Israel are more concerned about their social and economicwell-being at the expense of their souls. Most pastors have to be tent makers like Paul, because there are insufficient church funds “ to pamper ministers” Immigrants come to the church, and they are increasing in great numbers in Australia they are catered for by the pastors, but when they are “ripe to harvest” to become resources persons to such churches they elope to nowhere. Church members are no more intrested in “sound doctrine “ they have itching ears. A lot pretend to be online worshippers- which they use to avoid taking responsibilities in organized church. Money to fund churches is in decline because many refuse to pay tithe or be generous givers to advance the course of the gospel.

The mantra of International Gathering of Eagles Conferences is that “we are not chickens, we are eagles we shall soar.” Let us pray that God will strengthen the Pastors and ministers. God will raise eagle believer Christians . Let us pray that Christians will live holy lives again, committed to the work of our Heavenly Father. God will raise formidable workers for the church. He told them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. “Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.” Lk 10:2. Let us pray that God will raise fresh and committed leaders.

6. Pray for the salvation of souls.

We are living in a broken world. Families are struggling. Addictions are rising. Immorality is increasing. Racism and sexism abound. Royal commissions uncover shocking corruption, abuse of power and exploitation of the most vulnerable. This a broken world, full of conflict, pain, fear, immorality and injustice.

Jesus Christ offers solutions to multifaceted human problems. “ Come unto me all ye that labor … I will give you rest” Matt 11:28.

As I said in my video clip on arrival in Japan “nations” don’t go to heaven. It is individuals. It is great to have economically prosperous nations, technologically advanced nations, like Australia but we all came to this world one by one, even the twins at birth, so we shall leave this world one by one, even when there is mass death based on disasters or the other, we still exit one by one. “ And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, 28 So Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him, He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.” Heb 9:27-28.

When Australians, Japanese, Indonesians, Singaporeans, Malaysians, Nigerians, Canadians, Africans, Americans, Aboriginals die, where shall we spend eternity? Let us pray that men shall come to the knowledge of the Savior The Lord Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to save us from our sins and offer us eternity with the Trinity God. “ Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” May the people of Australia find Christ.

7. Pray for the prosperity of the nation.

Australia is a highly developed country with a mixed economy. As of 2023, Australia was the 13th-largest national economy by nominal GDP (gross domestic product), the 19th-largest by PPP-adjusted GDP, and was the 21st-largest goods exporter and 24th-largest goods importer. Let us pray that this nation shall continue to prosper as a continent, and a country, and the individual citizens shall continue to do well.
