“SET ME FREE, ANOINT ME, AND USE ME”

his morning, as I waited upon the Lord, the Holy Spirit whispered a sobering truth to my heart: “You must become the right person before you can do the right thing.” This profound statement struck me deeply.

We live in a time when many people want to be used by God, or more truthfully, want to use God—for blessing, breakthrough, and promotion—without ever desiring to become the kind of person God can actually entrust with kingdom responsibility. Many want to do great exploits, but few are willing to be transformed vessels.

The Spirit led me to meditate on a three-fold cry that every true child of God must echo:

Set Me Free. Anoint Me. Use Me.

1. SET ME FREE – The Foundation of Freedom

Jesus said in John 8:36, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”

Before God can use you, He must first free you. Free from what? From sin. From shame. From bondage. From yourself. From addiction. From depression. From oppression. From soul tie. From Barrenness. And many more. ( Put in what you want to be delivered from.)

I realized again this morning that God cannot use a bound man. A heart shackled by pride, lust, fear, addiction, or bitterness cannot carry the holy fire of God. Yet sadly, our churches are full of people seeking God's benefits without desiring His transformation.

The Holy Spirit reminded me that freedom is not optional—it’s the entry point to destiny. The prodigal son had to be restored before he could be reinstated. So must we.

2. ANOINT ME – The Power to Serve

Isaiah 61:1 says, “The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me…”

Once you are set free, the next step is empowerment. You cannot walk in the will of God without the power of the Holy Spirit.

This morning, the Lord showed me how many believers today are serving without oil. We are busy in ministry, in business, in church activities—yet many lack true spiritual authority. The Holy Spirit is not an accessory to the Christian life; He is the essence of it.

No one ever fulfilled their divine assignment without the anointing—not Jesus, not David, not Paul. Neither can you or I.

So I prayed, “Lord, anoint me afresh. Anoint me to preach, to pray, to lead, to love, to stand. I cannot do this in my strength.”

3. USE ME – The Life of Surrender

Finally, the Spirit whispered Isaiah 6:8 to my spirit: “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.”

Freedom and anointing must lead to purposeful service. Sadly, today’s church is filled with consumers of grace, not servants of grace. We come to church to collect miracles, not to carry the message. But the Spirit of God is looking for yielded vessels—people who will say, “I’m not just here to be blessed, I’m here to be used.”

When we say “Lord, use me,” we’re not just asking for a title or a pulpit—we're volunteering for divine assignment, whether seen or unseen, big or small. Service is not limited to preaching on a stage; you can be used by God at home, in your workplace, in politics, in schools, in media, in business, in missions, in hospitals, or on the streets. What matters is a heart surrendered to God’s will.

God used Joseph in politics to preserve nations. He used Esther in the palace to deliver her people. He used David in leadership, Deborah in judgment and warfare, Mary in motherhood, Peter in preaching, and Paul in missions. God used a young boy's lunch to feed thousands, a widow’s oil to demonstrate His power, and even a donkey to speak to a prophet. The truth is, God will use anyone and anything that is available to Him.

In modern times, He used Billy Graham, a humble farm boy, to preach to millions across continents with integrity and fire. He used Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., a preacher with a righteous dream, to confront injustice and awaken a generation. He used Mother Teresa in the alleys of Calcutta to love the unloved. He used Rev. Reinhard Bonnke to bring millions to Christ across Africa. God still uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things when they surrender completely.

So whether you are a teacher, a technician, a politician, a parent, or a preacher—there is a place for you in God’s agenda. You don’t have to be perfect; just be purified, available, and obedient.

Say to Him today:

“Lord, not just my lips or my hands—take my life and use me however You choose.”

This morning, I renewed my surrender. I said, “Lord, I don’t just want a touch; I want to be Your instrument. Not just to receive from You, but to live for You.”

In conclusion, dear reader, this is what the Holy Spirit taught me this morning:

Before you cry, “Use me,” first cry, “Set me free.”
Before you ask for platforms, ask for purity.
Before you seek gifts, seek God.
Before you want to shine, be willing to burn.

May your prayer today be sincere:
“Lord, Set Me Free. Anoint Me. Use me.
