UNUSUAL PARENTING

“It was by faith that Moses’ parents hid him for three months when he was born. They saw that God had given them an unusual child, and they were not afraid to disobey the king’s command” Heb 11:23 NLT

hey saw God has given them an “unusual” child. Another version says - “no ordinary,””beautiful,” “proper child” and more. What the Holy Spirit is saying is that you are not just a vehicle to bring forth a child to this world, you are the authorized dealer that will put value on your child.

The story was told one day a young boy asked his father, “what is the value of my life?”Instead of answering, the father told his son, “take this rock and go sell it at the market. If anybody asks the price, raise two fingers and don’t say anything” The boy then went to the market and a woman asked, “How much is this rock? I want to put it in my garden.” The boy didn’t say anything but raised up his two fingers, and the woman said “2 dollars? I will take it.” The boy went home and told his father, “a woman wants to buy the rock for 2 dollars”.

The father then said, “Son, I want you to take this rock to a museum, if anybody wants to buy it, don’t say a word, just put up your two fingers”. The boy went to the museum and a man showed up wanting to buy the rock, the boy didn’t say a word but put up 2 fingers and the man said “$200? I will take it”. The boy was shocked, went running home and told his father, “A man wants to buy this rock for $200”.

His father then said, “Son, the last place I want you to take this rock is to a precious stone store, show it to the owner and don’t say a word, if he asks the price, just raise up your two fingers.” The son ran to a precious stone store, he showed the rock to the owner, “Where did you find this stone? it is one of the rarest stones in the world, I must have it! How much would you sell it for?” The boy put up his two fingers and the man said “I will take it for $200,000.” The boy not knowing what to say, ran home to his father and told him that there’s a man that wants to buy the stone for $200,000, his father then asked, “Son, do you know the value of your life now?”

What do you see in your child? What value do you place on your child. $2? $200?, $200,000? Moses was born in a time that The Egyptian government had made a decree to kill any male child of the Hebrews. Many people saw no more value than a dead child the moment they gave birth to a male child. So they complied with the authority, pity the boy, kill the child and buried him in a shallow grave!

How many are killing their children today in one way or another? No money, the economy is bad. How many are cheating to get their children to secure admission. How many are stealing government money to over pamper their children. How many today refuse to train and discipline their children in the way of the Lord, sparing the rod, hiding under one Canadian government policy or the other.

The Holy Spirit says your child will become the value you put on him or her irrespective of government policies and environmental factor .

Moses’ parents because of the value they put on their son began to exercise faith for him from day one. They refused to kill him. They hid him and began to prophecy on him. I traveled back to 4000 years in the realm of the spirit and I hear their prayers in the holy Heaven - “Moses you will not die.” “Moses you will be a liberator and deliverer of the world” “Moses you will pioneer great things.” “Moses you will champion the cause of the God of Israel.” “ Moses you shall go to school , you shall be brilliant. Among outstanding children you will be outstanding. Among excellent children. You shall be excellent.” “Moses you will write books that will become best seller.” “Moses you will not be part of those that will do evil.” Moses you will give directions to a perverse generation.” “You shall fear the Lord. Moses you shall live long and affect many generations positively.” The prayer was intense. It was not the casual lackadaisical, faithless prayer of this generation. They meant every word!

And they did not just pray. They took practical steps. When they could not hide the boy any longer, they asked God for wisdom and direction. I could imagine the parents had a revelation cum dream, saw that they made a basket put the boy inside and God sent Pharaoh’s daughter to take the child. As soon as they woke up they followed God’s directions. Told Miriam “take your brother, drop him by River Nile, don’t be afraid when you see Pharaohs daughter take the child, make a request to seek for a Hebrew nurse to take care of the baby.” You remember the story how Moses’ Mum became a nanny in Pharaohs palace, shielded from doing menial job and sitting, eating on royal tables raising the unusual child in an unusual environment and getting unusual salary and training the young man about the God of Israel!

That was all God requested from them. Initial input and God said “Good job let me take it over.” Moses is credited with writing the Pentateuch - the first five books of the bible. Moses was the Man God sent to deliver the people from generational bondage. Moses pastored not only an unusual congregation. He pioneered a mega church as well as the first mobile church.

That child God has given you has a great future. Raise that child in faith. COVID is for a short time in the life of your children. Train them about the fear of God. Train them to be eagles. Train them to go to school. Teach them to go to church. Teach them integrity. Give them values not just valuables. Teach them to make God their priority. Teach them about the reality of hell and heaven. Teach them to pray, study the word of God, give to God’s cause and serve God in which capacity they choose. Teach them to value marriage and raise their own children in the way of the Lord .

“And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 ¶ And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up” Deut 65-7

In conclusion to preserve our generation and generations to come for God, please see our children as unusual, raise them in an usual way and they will produce unusual results for generations to come !

Shalom.
