Link to the song:
he first time I heard this song by Jimmy Cliff, I assumed he was singing about a personal experience he had in life or was still having. As time went on, it became a “go to” song for me to listen to anytime I felt like I was facing a challenge in life.
Even though I first heard the song decades ago, every time I listen to it, it caries a timeless message for me and that is to continue to trudge on in life no matter what obstacles one is facing.
A partial part of the lyrics says…
“Many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find my way over
Wandering I am lost as I travel along
The white cliffs of Dover
Many rivers to cross and it's only my will
That keeps me alive
I've been licked, washed up for years
And I merely survive because of my pride…”
Out of love for the song, I decided to play and sing it. Just for your listening pleasure.
