AUGUST 31 – SEPTEMBER 1, 2001

wara State Association of Nigeria North America, Inc., is calling all friends of Kwara, to join Kwarans in Diaspora at their maiden gathering, Washington, DC from August 31 – September 1, 2001.

Kwarans as well as friends of Kwarans should make it a must to attend the launching. What a better way of spending the Labor Day Holiday weekend to meet with His Excellency, Engineer Alhaji Mohammed Alabi Lawal, Executive Governor, Kwara State; Hon. Benjamin Ezekiel Yisa, Speaker, Kwara State House of Assembly; Engr. Christopher T. Ayeni, Commissioner for Agriculture & Natural Resources; Mohammed Yanda Abubakar Commissioner for Health; Adebayo Ahmed Ayodele, Commissioner for Water Resources & Rural Development; Dr. J. A. Oladepo; Special Adviser, Economic Affairs; Alhaji T. A. Sanni, President, Kwara Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture; Engr. Ogunbiyi Johnson Olu, Commissioner for Commerce, Industry & Cooperatives; Alhaji Toye Abdul Ganiyu Ibitoye, Commissioner for Finance, Professor Ibrahim Agboola Gambari, Under Secretary and Special Adviser on Africa, United Nations, His Excellency Gen. The two-day program of activities include a well placed Business Forum, Friday August 31, 2001 from 10:00am to 1:30pm, attracting a large number of American Corporations, Private and Public Business organizations from across the United States of America, such as Center for Trade & Technology Transfer, Atlanta, Georgia; Nigeria Africa-America Chambers of Commerce, Atlanta; Corporate Council on Africa; Prudential Financial Services; and Western Union.

The Town Hall meeting is scheduled for Saturday, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, September 1, 2001, addressing some issues in making Kwara State a model for other States to emulate. Some areas of discussion include Politics and the Legislature, Healthcare, Education, and Agriculture.

While we round up the launching with the Night Gala/Fundraising toward some important on-going projects, especially HIV/AIDS awareness, and support group programs in Kwara State, from 7:00pm till 1:00am..

You don’t want to be left out. Get yourself and your family members on the road, to the airport, on the Arm Track and meet with progressive Kwarans.

Part of the Governor’s message states that, “…With this inauguration ….I find it difficult to resist the urge to invite you to join us at Home, as soon as possible, so that we can put hands and heads together to lift our State to its destined height.”
