9/11 AND 11/9 - TWO DATES AMERICA WILL NEVER FORGET IN A HURRY (2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION RESULT)

No one is so brave that he is not disturbed by something unexpected (Julius Caesar)

The one thing we can all be sure about in politics is you are as well to expect the unexpected (Charles Kennedy)

If by any mistake Donald Trump wins this election, I will console Americans by telling them that "nobody deserves misery, but sometimes it's just your turn". Nigerians are having theirs (miseries) now, and you contributed somehow to it. It then means that "Karma has a surprising way of taking care of situations. All you have to do is to sit back and watch" (Temple Chima Ubochi)

n September 11, 2001 (9/11), 19 militants associated with the Islamic extremist group, al-Qaeda, hijacked four airliners, and carried out suicide attacks against targets in the United States. Two of the planes were flown into the towers of the World Trade Center in New York City, a third plane hit the Pentagon, just outside Washington, D.C., and the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania. Often referred to as 9/11, the attacks resulted in extensive death and destruction, triggering major U.S. initiatives to combat terrorism, and defining the presidency of George W. Bush. According history.com, over 3,000 people were killed during the attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C., including more than 400 police officers and firefighters.

Then, on November 11, 2016 (11/9), another history was made in the United States: Donald Trump defeated Hillary Clinton to become the 45th president of the United States of America. Not only that, the Republican Party maintained control of the House and the Senate, which means that the Party, led by President Trump, will have control of all the three branches of government in America as from 2017. How did this happen; how did so many people get this one very wrong? The whole world is in shock, because just about every major poll, in the weeks leading up to the election, predicted that he, Trump, will lose the popular and the electoral votes.

Some see 9/11 and 11/9 as tragic dates: Almost all Americans, and infact, many people all around the world, will live to remember what happened on these two dates, and will be wondering what went wrong, that nobody saw these coming. For 9/11, people still can't understand how the destruction of lives and property happened, despite America's intelligence gathering capabilities and military might. For 11/9, people are in shock, and wondering why so many people predicted the outcome of the election so wrongly.

Before moving on, I must say that defeat here must have been very painful for the losers; I know that the Clintons are devastated by this defeat, because they thought they would win this one. It just slipped away. Despite the brave face they put on outside, during the concession speech, blames and recriminations will be their lot in secret, and within their four walls.

On a stage at the New Yorker Hotel in New York City, conceding the election to Donald Trump, Hillary Clinton managed to conceal her shock, tears and frustration, when she told her supporters this excerpts: "Last night I congratulated Donald Trump and offered to work with him on behalf of our country. I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans. This is not the outcome we wanted or we worked so hard for, and I'm sorry we did not win this election for the values we share and the vision we hold for our country. I know how disappointed you feel, because I feel it too. And so do tens of millions of Americans who invested their hopes and dreams in this effort. This is painful, and it will be for a long time. But I want you to remember this".

Yes indeed, Hillary Clinton is really feeling the pain, more than anybody not very close to her knows. Paraphrasing the Bible, in Jeremiah 31:15, that "A voice is heard in Ramah, mourning and great weeping, Rachel weeping for her children and refusing to be comforted, because they are no more", I would say that "There a voice heard in New York, mourning and great weeping. Hillary weeping and refusing to be comforted, because she lost the election almost everybody thought she will win".

What am I talking about? The Newsmax reported how Ed Klein narrated that "Hillary Couldn't Stop Crying, Told Friend She Blames Comey and Obama for Loss":

"Hillary Clinton "couldn't stop crying" once she learned of her loss to Donald Trump on Tuesday, best-selling conservative author Ed Klein told Newsmax TV on Wednesday.

"About 6:30 this morning she called an old friend," he began on "The Steve Malzberg Show" in an interview. "She was crying, inconsolably.

"She couldn't stop crying.

"Her friend said - her female friend from way, way, back - said that it was even hard to understand what she was saying, she was crying so hard.

"This is Hillary we're talking about," Klein said.

"Eventually," he continued, "her friend said she could make out that she was blaming James Comey, the director of the FBI, for her loss - and this I don't understand exactly - and the president of the United States for not doing enough."

Klein said his source then asked further about President Barack Obama.

"She said: 'Well, she felt, Hillary felt, that the president could have stopped Comey a long time ago, because that's what [former President] Bill [Clinton] said."

I feel for the Clintons, especially former President Bill Clinton. He looks frail; and I hope that the stress of the campaign, and the devastation of his wife's defeat will not take a toll on his physical and emotional health. We need him around much longer. As I wrote in my last article: "Obama is the first black president, but for me, Bill Clinton was the first black president of America. Although he's a white man, but "black blood" runs through his veins, as he loves the blacks more than even President Obama, so, he's one of us".

Though Hillary Clinton won the popular vote by almost 400,000, but Trump won the minimum of 270 electoral votes necessary to be elected president. Trump had a 290 to Clinton's 232 Electoral College Votes (votes are still being tabulated across the United States, as some precincts and outlets are still yet to be declared).

As you can see, Donald Trump won the Electoral College, but received fewer votes from the Americans than Hillary Clinton. He will be the 4th president to win the Electoral College, after getting fewer votes than his opponent. The other three were George Bush in 2000, who was elected, despite the fact that he received 500,000 fewer votes than Al Gore; Harrison in 1888, who was elected, although he received 100,000 fewer votes than the incumbent Grover Cleveland; and Hayes in 1876, who was elected, although he received 250,000 fewer votes than Samuel Tilden.

This election was a referendum on President Obama's leadership; it was a vote of no confidence in Obama's government, as Hillary Clinton's win would have been like an extension of his administration. One thing is clear: Trump's win will shatter Obama's legacy, and has already shattered the Democratic Party.

President Obama failed big time, because he jettisoned everything that brought him to power, and decided to become so arrogant, even more than President George Bush, whom he succeeded. Obama abandoned, once he entered the White House, the principle of dialogue and engagement of other governments in order to influence them he promised during his own campaign. The point is that all the things which made voters to loathe George Bush, and the very reason, he, Obama, was elected, was what he ended up doing. People were angry that George Bush dragged America and its allies to a senseless war in Iraq, and because of that the American people didn't want to elect another Republican, and electing Obama was a protest against the ways of President George Bush, but President Obama ended up getting America involved in Syria, Libya, Tunisia etc. Today, Iraq is still a mess, despite the fact that he promised to help fix that place.

Obama, once elected, started seeing himself as the world's president, and arrogated to himself the power to decide who will win election, or who will remain in power, or who will be removed as the leader of some other countries, and which country to visit or not. He used the United Nations as a podium to announce who must go as a leader of some other countries (like his address at the UN, stating that Assad of Syria must go) who's he to tell other people how to live their lives? The lowest point he went was when he made a video addressing Nigerians, on the eve of the 2015 presidential election. Obama pretended to be neutral in that video, but any discerning mind will read between the lines to know that he was fronting for Buhari to be elected the president. A president of another country shouldn't have gone that far. Not only that, he refused to visit Nigeria, citing human rights records and corruption as the reasons, while he goes to other countries worse than Nigeria, and cuddles leaders as bad as their Nigerian counterparts. President Obama forgot that any United States' leader, who snubs Nigeria does that at his own peril, because despite the hopelessness and bad leadership the country is known for, it's an unforgettable and unavoidable place, because of the human and material resources it has. Nigeria is the most important Black Country in the world. That's why all United States' presidents, right from Jimmy Carter, made it a point of duty to visit Nigeria, no matter all the bad things they heard about that place. But, a black brother, who became president of the United States with the support of all, snubbed the country most of his predecessors rushed to visit. Not only that, when he sent his secretary of state to Nigeria, few months ago, he met only the northerners. Now, let President Buhari, the northern Emirs and governors be waiting for President Trump to come to visit them alone, or to send his secretary of state, whenever one is appointed, to them alone. The game is over!

President Obama was fixated on gay marriage, and that was one of the reasons he withdrew his country's support for the re-election of President Goodluck Jonathan of Nigeria, because the latter refused to repeal the anti-gay law he signed into law. President Obama forgot that Americans need job, security, secured future, good health etc and are not necessarily interested in the sexual orientation of anybody. It's only when somebody is comfortable that he or she will start thinking of sexual orientation. The point is that President Obama helped Hillary Clinton in this defeat.

Things are happening fast: There are protests, all over America, against the election of Trump, and these not abating. California is threatening to secede from the United States, after this Trump's victory, in what is called Calexit. There's also a rare possibility of Hillary Clinton becoming the president, instead of Trump, through a twist in the Electoral College, but nobody can take that to the bank, as it may never happen. But there's a prediction that president Trump will be impeached, probably next year, by Republican Congress that would prefer a President Mike Pence , who according to the predictor, is "someone whom establishment Republicans know and trust". I will examine these and more in subsequent parts of the article.
