BACK TO SCHOOL

alking into any super store right now, you would see the way the aisles are strategically arranged with back to school products like bags (back packs), lunch boxes, stationeries, shoes, clothes and so many other things. You switch on the TV and you are bombarded with so many back to school commercials on where to get the best deals on laptops and other electronic gadgets for school. It is definitely a time for parents to spend, spend and spend. When the kids present their "back to school list", you just scratch your head and wonder. Well, some of us can remember not getting all that we asked for no matter how well we presented the case and tried to convince mum and dad. I hope kids of today will also know that they can not get everything, just the basic things.

No more summer camps and holiday at grandma and grandpa's place or uncle and aunty. The holiday is over and things are going to change or be adjusted to accommodate everyone's needs. Back to school preparations involves quite a lot of family rescheduling. If you have a lot of kids that need to be dropped at different places or at different times, you need to joggle a lot. Waking up early, packing lunch and making breakfast are some of the morning routines that one has to keep up with. Picking them up later in the day and keeping up with after school programmes are also part of the rescheduling. For those that have babies and toddlers not yet in school-----enjoy the moment. And for those who are in the "joggling process"----- you can do it. You are the best person for the job.

For those going away to boarding house or to live on campus in a higher institution, it could be quite an exciting experience to look forward. But on the other hand you could be missing home already and wondering what the journey to independence will really be all about. You are about to get your "freedom" but you are also about to take your destiny into your hands and remember all that dad and mum have taught you and put them to practice when they are not there. Your future is in your hands and you have to begin to choose your friends, plan your time and feed well. It is a new stage in your life, so step into it with courage and guess what----------You will be fine.

For some others, you may be saying to yourself right now

"oh thank God I don't have to go back to school now and face those long hours of lectures, get assignments and homework and so many other things related to an academic pursuit."
Yes, you are free from that but you are in a bigger institution called LIFE. From the day you were born, you were automatically registered and you can not graduate until you pass on. In this school of life, you learn everyday. Anything or anyone can be your teacher and you can not pick and choose what you will learn all the time. Sometimes you pass and you also fail but only time will tell if you have really learnt anything. In this school, you may have to repeat a lot of classes and really there is no shame in that. So we are all going back to school---------The school of Life.

The colours of Fall

From the highways of Canada
To the cities of Baltimore, Maryland
I see beautiful trees
Their colours so eye catching
Red, yellow orange, green and brown leaves
I see the colours of fall.

The beauty of fall
The beauty of nature.
The return of students
The chatting and the rattling
When I see the colors of fall,
I look at life as a colorful experience.
Fall is a beautiful season.
I hold my breath when I see the colours of fall.
