Hotels are nice, but do you really feel at home? Well, you walk into this beautiful hotel with stunning architecture and beautiful lobby. Located right in the heart of the city or “downtown.” Surrounded by nice malls, and nice restaurants. Pictures of the city grace the entrance. Display shelves with sights and attractions leaflets of places to visit while you are in town fill the lobby. The receptionists and luggage/valet staff smile as they welcome you. You check in and head to your room on the 18th floor! Or maybe not! Wao……….so much for heights! It is a stunning view but………sweet dreams……….. really?

The personal care provisions are in miniature sizes……toothpaste, cream, soap, shampoo, conditioner………but the towels are so white, you wonder the bleach they used on it! Everything is so neat and kept in its place. You have to try to keep up so that the room attendant doesn’t think you are untidy………….Well, thanks for replacing all the spa collections in more miniature sizes!

For any guest, safety, comfort, and accessibility are some top priorities when choosing a hotel. You can stay for a night, few days, weeks or months depending on your plans. Some people who relocate to a new city may be faced with no other option than to stay in a hotel. But certainly hotels are not a “permanent” address. They do provide the immediate shelter and temporary comfort that you need. They give you a base to operate from while you are in a new city. A place you can call “home” in a strange land. That “five star” comfort and luxury is fantastic but can you really call it home? Nothing there belongs to you…..apart from your clothes and other important things. And of course you have to look for where to get food or settle for room service that might cost you more. When you are on vacation, it is okay to treat yourself and relax. But after a while you definitely miss the comfort of your home………there is no place like home! You just can’t be too comfortable in a hotel because you know that it is not your home….you will need to check out when your stay is over.

The temporary stay which hotels offer reminds us of the life that we live in this world. Like guests in a hotel, we are all passing through this world. The question is “how do we live now and where do we go from here?” Not denying ourselves the blessings that God brings our way, but gracefully and wisely enjoying it. Let us remember that someday we will be required to give account of our life. The way you live now will determine where you will spend eternity.
