SUPER EAGLES OF NIGERIA WIN THE THIRD PLACE MATCH AND THE CONCOMITANT BRONZE MEDAL AT AFCON 2019!

he Super Eagles of Nigeria kept faith with tradition by winning their third-place match-up against the "Carthage Eagles" of Tunisia. They maintained the hundred percent record of Nigeria in the third-place play off!

These group of Super Eagles like their counter parts of yore, showed enormous courage and determination to bounce back from the disappointment of a painful, narrow, last minute defeat against the Algerians, to clinch victory, in a potentially demotivating third- place match-up.

They have shown that they are a team that is destined for greatness in soccer, if the right developmental environment is constantly made available to them! They are certainly not short on talent and determination.

The soccer critics who are calling for the axing of Coach Gernot Rohr, are not being fair to the developmental process of the Super Eagles; as continuity is very important in the development of any team! They are inadvertently trying to rock the boat!!!!! We shall talk about this subject in the subsequent article(s).

The match against the Tunisians was by no means a spectacular one. Like all third- place matches, the lack of motivation on the part of some of the players was a major problem! The Super Eagles of Nigeria, did their best under the circumstances; they were efficient enough to clinch victory and the concomitant bronze medal, with the narrowest of margins, 1-0!

The Super Eagles during the course of the Tunisian game, showed once again their main weakness as a team: lack of an efficient mid-field organisation, this showed once again by the Tunisians having a greater percentage of ball possession! We shall discuss this and other realities of the Super Eagles' performance in "Egypt 2019", in an appraisal of the Super Eagles' performance at the Nations' cup tournament, in Egypt, in the subsequent article. So, please, stay tuned!

The aim of this article is to appreciate the Super Eagles, the technical crew and the NFF, for Nigeria's success in Egypt, at the occasion of the 2019 Nations' cup tournament! They are heroes and should be celebrated!!!!!!

Yours sincerely will appreciate the players by mentioning them individually:

Goalkeepers: Daniel Akpeyi, Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Francis Uzoho;

Defenders: Shehu Abdullahi, alias "Man O' War"; Olaiyeluwa Aina; Jamilu Collins; Chidozie Awaziem; "Field Marshall" Kenneth Omeruo; "Commander-General" Leon Balogun and William Troost-Ekong, alias "Rock of Gibralter";

Mid-fielders: The tactically "erudite" Skipper John Obi Mikel; Alex Iwobi, alias "the dancing Krekel"; Etebo Oghenekaro, alias "Turbo Engine"; John Ogu and Wilfred Ndidi, alias "the baggy bagger";

The attackers: "The supersonic jet-heeled" Ahmed "Mansa" Musa; Samuel Chukwueze, alias "El Fantastico"; Henry Onyekwuru ; "The adventurous" Samuel Kalu; Simon Moses, alias "the Atilogwu dancer"; Odion Ighalo, alias "Top 9"; Paul Onuachu and Victor Osimhen.

In conclusion, Nigerians and all other Super Eagles' supporters, owe the Super Eagles, the technical crew and the NFF, a deep depth of gratitude! They are heroes and deserve to be celebrated!!!!!!
