WHERE ARE YOU GOING: NINEVEH OR TARSHISH?

"1. Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. 3. But Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish......" Jonah 1:2,3 [KJV]

  • Where are you going? Nineveh or Tarshish?

  • Where are you going this year?

  • Where are you rushing to with your bag and baggage?

  • Where is your career going?

  • Where is your marriage going?

  • Where is your spinsterhood heading to?

  • Where are you going as a bachelor?

  • Where is your ministry going?

  • Where are you going as a Pastor, Evangelist, Bishop, General Overseer, Apostle where?

  • Where are you going as a father, mother, husband, wife, where?

Young man, young woman, where are you going academically? Nineveh or, Tarshish? God's destination or yours?

You determined where you are going despite God's good plan for you. You claim you are born again. Very good. God acknowledges it. God now tells you, 'now that you are born again arise for the salvation of others.'

'Now that you have a job go and assist someone else.' 'Now that you are anointed, minister peace and healing to someone else.'

God now sends you to Nineveh. Where have you decided to go?

See, Jonah rose up to flee to Tarshish. Why are you going to Tarshish instead of Nineveh? Belly of the fish for you!

Just imagine the scene when Jonah was buying a ticket from Joppa to Tarshish. Why are you spending the money, talent, treasures and time God gave you, to work against Him?

"But the Lord sent a great wind" Jonah 1:4 Why not!?

God is still sending troubles, storms, unpleasant circumstances to disobedient children. ((Maybe it is not Satan, that put you in this unpleasant situation, maybe you provoked God to 'create' it for you.)) My counsel from today; simply obey God.

Tarshish means 'greedy one', Nineveh why don't you just obey now? It is called TQM (Total Quality Management). Doing it right the first time. They used to tell us in the Yoruba language in those days in Sunday School, "Egberun Samuel ko le sa mo 'Olorun lowo," that is: a thousand Samuels cannot run away from God successfully. You cannot run away from God successfully. He is a sovereign God!

He does whatsoever pleases him- Psalm 115:3!

Go to Nineveh now!

Prayer : O Lord, help me to learn obedience from Jonah. Let me not enter the belly of a fish, that is, put myself in a terrible situation before I do your will.

Quotation: "Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine," - God Almighty (Exodus 19: 5)

Obedience brings peace in decision making. If we have firmly made up our minds to follow the commandments, we will not have to redecide which path to take when temptation comes our way. -James E. Faust
