hen Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve disciples, 4 and he went to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss the best way to betray Jesus to them. 5 They were delighted, and they promised to give him money. 6 So he agreed and began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus so they could arrest him when the crowds weren’t around.” “But even as Jesus said this, a crowd approached, led by Judas, one of the twelve disciples. Judas walked over to Jesus to greet him with a kiss. 48 But Jesus said, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?” Lk 22:3-6,47
The Holy Spirit will want you to pause and check this “list” to see if you are having the spirit of Judas Iscariot before you continue to pour venom on him. Judas Iscariot was once a person but now it a spirit! If that spirit dwells in you watch it. Judas Iscariot did not spend the money he received to betray Jesus, he also committed suicide and I believe he went to hell in essence he suffered what I called “ triple jeopardy “ and became an example of evil personification for all generations. You have the spirit of Judas:
- When you ( allow Satan to enter you) do a bad thing and when you are caught you said - “ Satan made me to do it” For example raping people, killing someone, using people for rituals to make quick money, doing any dastardly, terrible and despicable thing,etc
- When you betray the person that genuinely loves you whether in the family,church, work place, school etc.
- When you are conspiring, colluding scheming,plotting (or plotted) to destroy an innocent person, for any unjust reason, selfishness, jealousy, hatred, maliciousness, sheer wickedness etc
- When you are willing to make money at the expense of other peoples lives/souls. You are willing to kill human beings directly or indirectly ( Judas knew they were going to kill Jesus) but he preferred 30 pieces of silver to spend compared to the life of Jesus.”For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows.” 1Tim 6:10
- When your selfish interest is more important to you than the lives of many. In Nigeria recently some people imported adulterated fuel to make “extra monetary gain “ at the expense of thousands, if not millions, whose engines will knock or means of livelihood will be destroyed!
- When you steal the church, corporation or nation’s money for your selfish interest you have the spirit of Judas.
- When out of selfish interest you appropriate funds that are meant to create infrastructure, provide roads portable water, rails and through your actions you are killing many Jesuses, you have the spirit of Judas.
- When you are pursuing money at the expense of your soul- Judas went to hell!
- When you betray the trust (Judas was made the treasurer) someone specially gave to you and sin against God.”But Joseph refused. “Look,” he told her, “my master trusts me with everything in his entire household. 9 No one here has more authority than I do. He has held back nothing from me except you, because you are his wife. How could I do such a wicked thing? It would be a great sin against God.” Gen 39:8-9. When you are sleeping with another man’s wife/ husband. When you covet what does not belong to you.You have a spirit of Judas.
- When you have that premarital sex and defiled that person and destroy her delicate future because of momentary pleasure- you are a Judas!
- “Judas walked over to Jesus to greet him with a kiss.”48 But Jesus said, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?” Lk 22:47b,48. When you gossip, slander, murmur,destroy someone behind him/her but you show affection in the public- it is a pretentious, hypocritical spirit- it is the spirit of Judas.
- When you break the heart of someone- your spouse, parents, children, boss, pastor, church members- you have the spirit of Judas . It is one that is close to someone’s heart that can break someone’s heart. Judas as the treasurer among the disciples was close to Jesus and he broke his heart. Stop breaking people’s heart.
Conclusion: The list goes on. There are two lessons/warnings the Holy Spirit wants you to learn, firstly if you have developed the spirit of Judas- conspiracy, pretence, betrayal or wickedness it is not too late, don’t suffer triple jeopardy, stop it now, don’t go and commit suicide, repent today.
Jesus loves you, he doesn’t want you to commit suicide and go to hell. Secondly, there are still many dangerous Judases around giving dangerous kisses all over the place especially in the church and family, beware, be-warned!
Prayer: 1. May you not be a modern day Judas
2. May you not be a victim of modern day Judas.
