THE COST OF A BAG OF RICE

"I hear Faseun is giving out bags of rice."

he line goes on as far as the eye can see. Market women, TRADERS,

You rationalize, whether you get your own bag of rice or walk away, those politrickians will loot the treasury so why not get your piece of the pie. God knows it's the only piece you'd see.

It's food on the table for a week if you stretch it, with plenty gari in between, a month.

It's your bribe to look the other way when the giver of rice, starts looting. When s/he starts "recovering" the money s/he'd used

Those who profit from the underdevelopment and poverty of Nigerians and we won't prosper until we shed off our fear of them and overthrow their hold over us.

You look the other way

You hold back of criticism

You hesitate on your demands thinking he fed the entire city with those bags of rice and if you ask for more e.g. your salary, he'd have to pay for the salaries of all city workers.
