DADDY FREEZE'S PUERILE ATTEMPT AT RELEVANCE

L-R: Daddy Freeze; Pastor Bishop Oyedepo

There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother. There is a generation that are pure in their own eyes, and yet is not washed from their filthiness. There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up. Proverbs 30: 11-13.

ne cannot but be appalled by the recent flagrant and repugnant behaviour of the misguided broadcaster, Ifedayo Olarinde, that goes by the sobriquet Daddy Freeze, who also goes by several other designations, inconsequential to delve into at this stage. His recent ridiculous affront and attempt to make corrections to Bishop David Oyedepo's scriptural teachings is not only laughable but an outright attempt at foolery.

Bishop Oyedepo has been a teacher of men in scriptural principles and living whilst Dayo was still in diapers. It therefore staggers belief that this greenhorn will have the temerity to want to lock horns with a man whose life and impact through scriptural astuteness and commitment reverberates around the world. The Bishop has been a towering light to generations and has contributed to countless lives in their bid for spiritual awakening. The ecumenical and ecclesiastical evolution in Africa and indeed the world cannot be complete without apportioning some credit to the Bishop. It is therefore ludicrous for Dayo to engage in such infantile grandstanding.

Easy accessibility to social platforms should not mean a negation of responsibility in its usage. Spewing mischief over these platforms especially against people with impeccable character is disheartening. Calling to question the integrity and faithfulness of the Bishop in spiritual doctrinal matters on social platforms is a reprehensible act that reeks of insolence and rascality.

Sniffing around and antagonising other people's work is no work. It is an avenue to seek relevance amongst your fickle fans seeking adventurism in wrong places; besides, if you make attempts to critique another's work be sure to have a full grasp of the subject matter. Your flailing attempts to interpret scripture and thereby bungling it in the process is pathetic.

Dayo's eisegeses approach to biblical interpretation leaves his listeners more confused. One is reminded of Apostle Paul's aghast in one of his letters to Timothy. "Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm". If Dayo had the foggiest idea of the spiritual ramifications of his missteps, he will desire penance. Seeking relevance by vacuously opposing people whose invaluable commitment to the betterment of humanity is disturbing to say the least.

Dayo finally came out with an imperiously staged skit, purporting to apologise whilst his disposition and demeanour portrays otherwise. Apology without contriteness and ruefulness is simply playing to the gallery. It is obvious that all his snazziness is simply to gain attention to himself and thereby find relevance. Bishop Oyedepo has touched thousands of lives around the world in so many ways that Dayo and his minions can never ever fathom. There are very many ways to seek significance without being insolent to people whose contributions and achievements to the body of Christ will continue to be a mirage to your ilk.
