WHY BUHARI SHOULD OFFER MOGHALU, SOWORE, DUROTOYE, AND OTHERS MINISTERIAL APPOINTMENTS

"Men make history and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better." -- Harry S Truman

n Nigeria, 2019 general elections have come and gone. The period of the election was a teachable moment as we crawled divisively throughout the period. The political and religious leaders and other ethnic bigots who tried to divide the nation are now gulping and regurgitating their evil vomits. Nigeria is not looking back to her ugly past for vengeance on the innocent people, rather, her responsible people are moving forward with undeterred optimism.

The positive and negative experiences and the lessons we have learned must be used for the collective progress of all Nigerians. President Muhammadu Buhari must look beyond party nomenclature to form an all-inclusive government. Buhari must consolidate his integrity and legacy to scout for Nigerians with impeccable credentials. Godfatherism and party affiliation should be secondary to how we will move forward in unity. Buhari's primary obligation and constitutional responsibility must be to the generality of all Nigerians.

Buhari should offer Moghalu, Sowore, Durotoye, and other astute Nigerians ministerial appointments or key positions in his impending cabinet. These quintessential Nigerians are not opportunistic in their political aspirations. These former presidential candidates are not motivated by what Nigeria will give them, they are motivated by what they can give Nigeria.

Moghalu's political and economic antecedents are his credentials. Apart from being a seasoned technocrat, the young professor is quintessential in his demeanor, presentation, and interpersonal skill. Moghalu and others deserve nonpartisan positions in the core nomenclature of Buhari's cabinet. After the inauguration on May 29, 2019, Buhari must get the ball rolling to make life easy for all Nigerians. Prof. Kingsley Moghalu is very intelligent and polished. His approach to solving political problems is an asset to our nation. Some of us watched the young professor with keen interest during the presidential campaign. His faultless articulation and approach at proferring solutions to Nigerian problems worth modicum of consideration.

Sowore is a political warrior, a nonconformist and recusant who will be like a sensor or positive rebel to rattle the engine of governance. When a government seems to derail, people like Sowore will not dwell in political correctness. He will bring to bear how well the government must be accountable to people it governs.

Mr. Fola Durotoye has an affable personality. He has a people-oriented approach to governance. Durotoye also has the credentials of a leader, and the positivism Nigeria is yearning for at this crucial period of her life. The audacity of these young Nigerians and others must not be jettisoned by Mr. President as he consolidates his achievements of the last four years. Buhari must rewrite our tumultuous history with the signatures of all the evolving indefatigable strong young men and women in Nigeria.

The first catalyst and recipe for engendering good governance and participatory democracy in Nigeria are by erasing our mutual geopolitical suspicion. Government of inclusiveness is sacrosanct to moving Nigeria forward. At Mr. President's twilight years, Buhari's last phase in public service before he retires to Daura is to leave a quintessential legacy and preservation of his integrity and prudence. Today and tomorrow (future) belong to these contemporary youths.

Nigeria is at the threshold of history. This is our second and last chance of getting it right in Nigeria. Our geopolitical bigotry and naughtiness must be halted. We must come together to put to shame those who are fanning the embers of discord among the people of Nigeria. Nigeria can be great if only we use what we have in an endowment to get what we want for prosperity. Buhari must use our impeccable individuals to harness the opportunities and possibilities ahead of us!
