o much has been said about giving President Tinubu enough time to settle down before challenging the policies of his government. I am agape not knowing what to make of it. Nigerians have been more than patient after all that they have been passing through - Buhari' s economic havoc and Boko Haram terror and now, the collapse of everything. All the same, whether for or against, it still boils down to Nigeria's tribal political setting, which is a problem. All of the leaders seek the cover of their ethnic fold for their own failings - don't touch ours, nobody should stop our turn! Whose turn, what about Nigeria and the rest of us?
Anyway, there is the saying that one shouldn't judge a book by its cover. But then what if, from the outset mistakes on the cover of a book are so obvious of any good? Nigerians were told by then candidate Tinubu that, he was going to hit the ground running on first day of being elected President. He told us that it was his Turn to rule - a backdoor deal with his predecessor. Without missing words, President Tinubu is himself a political institution in Nigeria and needs no tutelage about Nigeria and governance. It is rather an insult on his person to be demanding time for what? - Does Tinubu need to be told that our resources and GDP cannot sustain 45 ministers and their lifestyles? -Can President Tinubu with all honesty show one single performing minister of his government not minding the empty trumpet blowing ones? -What about the so many irrelevant advisers cut across all segment of governance? - Level of borrowing - local and international debts? -Where is minister of Petrol and problems of power in Nigeria? -That NNPC has become the drain of our main resources, its stinking corruption and mismanagement, and yet no audit? Who is deceiving who? -No equal opportunities - no room for new hands other than recycling of those who have put Nigeria in a mess? -All contracts done in Nigeria, especially government ones awarded to politicians and their surrogates - Those who retires from public service are still the ones holding important contracts? -Access to public jobs only to privileged groups - Children of the rich and politically connected. No longer what you know but who you know? In other words, public service jobs no longer for our best but to those who can buy it or the height of their sponsors and you expect Nigeria to develop or get value for money service? -What does Tinubu expects of his administration if he has only yes men or women but not courageous men and women prepared to contradict him on policies? Austria is among the 10 richest countries of the world in terms of GDP. The President, prime ministers and ministers are the only officials that are chauffeur driven only if on duties - to work and official duties. No official car in their private capacities otherwise, they pay taxes for each private use. No sirens including for visiting head of states, what about that? Our big men like use of sirens, convoys of official vehicles including all public officials in Nigeria. This carryover from colonial rule is inconsistent with our dignity, social cohesion and self rule. Do you know how much resources could be saved in providing safe drinking water, sanitation, mini football stadium across Nigeria and by so doing restoring the pride of self rule? Throughout my tertiary education in the UK, no Vice Chancellor or Top university official is chauffeur driven. Mr. Tinubu, you have had enough of many privileges, if you come down to become an ordinary Nigerian, everyone will follow your example in making Nigeria work for all of us - where the son of nobody becomes somebody! PresidentTinubu, Palliatives never grow any economy. Tinubu caught between a greedy political elites and a discontented people that are no longer interested in palliatives in the face of inflicted hardship. In Medicine, palliative care is the last place of a dying person, where all hope has died. You should to be grateful and thank those who called for the hunger or August protest. Because, you have now the vent for doing what is good for Nigeria other than for only your political friends and special interest groups. The way forward for Tinubu is this - Call on the council of state now to discuss only these two things: A new constitution of the making of the Nigerian people and Electoral reforms -Only free and fair election in a democratic sense will save Nigeria and bring about good governance for prosperity and equal opportunities. President Tinubu, you know what to do and I know you are a courageous and fearless man; if only you understand the demand of this Moment and your place in History?
