ometimes ago, a friend and Nigerian resident in the United Kingdom asked me why I am so impassioned about the United States of America. The juxtaposition of my answers with my friend as regards Nigeria and the United States was productive and conversational.
In our conversation, some of my answers in defense of American uniqueness was humbling and simple: The United States of America cares for me, and all that is mine. It also cares for humanity and creates an enabling environment for her citizens to thrive with prosperity.
Despite America's challenges, Uncle Sam also maintains and sustains American citizens' self-esteem and unfettered freedom. I am also not going to be frugal or inexpensive in praising distinguished Americans and American exceptionalism, even with the uncertainty of her current temporal trial in her history.
In a nutshell, let's for a moment dwell less on the current Mr. Disinfectant and the ongoing bundle of lies, misinformation, deflection, confusion, and conflicting messages from the leadership. We must pause the confusion, and insanity of the conspiracy theorists in our world. The plague of the world by Coronavirus has exposed the nudity of minds, failure of imagination and leadership, political dogmatism, unrepentant zombies, false religious beliefs, and bastardization of God's name for "In God's Name PLC," and religious enterprises.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 has also brought out the ingenuity and sense of imagination of the people. Just like the 1918 Spanish flu pandemic, the world will not remain the same again after the COVID-19, and the dark period in human history.
Without any hindsight, for those of us who do not know Anthony Stephen Fauci, this unsolicited piece is a synopsis of the humble man currently fighting the (in)visible enemy-Mr. Coronavirus and liars in The United States. Dr. Fauci is an American of Italian descent and one of the American imagination and possibilities. He seems to have written his name in gold for speaking to power in the face of chaos. Dr. Fauci has managed to walk a fine line to inform the American people.
Dr. Fauci is an American physician and immunologist who have served as the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases since 1984. He is a man I like to call 'a soldier-physician.' Dr. Fauci is walking a fine line with cautious optimism to conscientize the man in the White House to synchronize with the reality on the ground. Fauciís boss (POTUS) is a man who has refused to use the missteps of the past and present to face reality on the ground and future.
Throughout this period, everything Dr. Fauci has done so far and how he has managed this daunting national health crisis is contingent on his consequential personality, and the Hippocratic Oath he has taken. Hippocratic Oath is an oath of ethics historically taken by physicians to save lives. Dr. Fauci has also demonstrated unquestionable leadership in medicine and life. Part of Dr. Fauci's impeccable credentials was his appointment as Director of NIAID in 1984. He now oversees an extensive research portfolio of basic and applied research to prevent, diagnose, and treat established infectious diseases such as "HIV/AIDS, respiratory infections, diarrheal diseases, tuberculosis, and malaria as well as emerging diseases such as Ebola and Zika. NIAID also supports research on transplantation and immune-related illnesses, including autoimmune disorders, asthma, and allergies."
Moreover, this momentous period is one of the passing phases in American history. But if you are born or naturalized as an American like Dr. Anthony Fauci, you must count yourself very lucky to be part of this unique and thriving project called America. America is going through its precarious period, but the resilience of her people to weather stormy conditions is her uniqueness. Sooner very soon, American ingenuity and the world will come to fore, cure, and drugs will be found to combat the menace of coronavirus. This time too shall pass, and it shall be raining days again in America, and the world.
