PROF WOLE SOYINKA: AN INTELLECTUAL GNOME!

Nobel laureate Prof Wole Soyinka

kinwande Oluwole Babatunde Soyinka, known as Wole Soyinka, is a Nigerian playwright, poet, and essayist. In 1986, exactly 33 years ago today, this iconic man in literature was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature, the first African to be honored in that category. Prof. Soyinka was born into a Yoruba family in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria. Please, let's celebrate his unique anniversary.

My Poem for the wizard Professor goes thus:

A giant in the forest
Of a thousand midget eggheads.
Harrumphed professor
With a great voice and erudition.
A literary pundit mesmerizing
The minds of insatiable zealots.

Kongi, ghomid and
terrestrial intellectual
Property to voyagers
Of the Conscience of the nation,
Grinding in a confused enclave
and wasteland.

In vain their hates cast.
Ramshackle's at their feet
To see you saunter,
To your Octo berth.
An octogenarian with unmatched
Intellectual acuity.

As you fete on this day,
Your zealots are feasting
With you in absentia, and
In your existential museum of art.

Kongi harvest,
Cling and toast your glass of wine
In an unending fecundity,
To the admiration of your
Adversaries and admirers.
