FEBRUARY 16: IS GOD ALSO A NIGERIAN?

he sweat of endless days of campaigning is over
The tired and sore and aching muscles are being messaged in anticipation of jubilation or mourning.
The liars have finished telling theirs lies after four years of insults,
And are brushing their dirty mouths in mocking anticipation of Saturday.

The prophets of doom have prophesied: This liar shall win, and shall spell doom to all;
The prophets of hope have prophesized: This liar shall win and shall bring hope to all.
True patriots have spent countless days in bars, markets, farms, temples, and on social media
Debating
Arguing
Fighting.
The disposables have committed the ultimate sacrifice for their professional liars, thieves, and vultures.
For that is the nature of Nigerian political beast.

In all, in prayer for a fair and credible election, Nigerians seek
Always a suffering and smiling people.
INEC has staked its neck on fair and credible elections
Spending millions of naira to produce an informed and transcended ethnic and religious electorate.
But we arise!
We hope its neck is not ladened with chains of religion, ethnicity.
We hope it is not a conduit for the professional liars, thieves, and economic vultures.

Regardless, the professional liars, thieves, and economic vultures have not been deterred
The candidates have spread their lies and false promises.
Same old, same old. Every four years.

Only God knows Saturday, February 16,
He is omnipotent and omnipresent.
We mortals wait in shivering anticipation
And pray
And Hope
That God is also a Nigerian
