Terrorism, Obasanjo and assasination of Bola Ige - back to reality
- A Rejoinder

he contributor of an article: TERRORISM, OBASANJO AND ASSASINATION OF BOLA IGE - BACK TO REALITY has written the most despicable lines of rubbish that I have ever read in my life. His arguments were nothing but velum of hatred for a man who is only serving his country albeit within so many contraints, as head of a goverment. To call someone a terrorist is a serious accusation that must be justified by the person's tendency to use force as a weapon of settlement of a dispute. It is nothing but cheap political journalism therefore for Zaiyol Karl to call President Obasanjo a terrorist. Let him be assured that I am not an Obasanjo or PDP apologist. Therefore his elstwhile comment about Obasanjo's apologist was a cover for a blanket abuse of his responsiblity as a writer.

He failed to intelligently illuminate in his argument his characterization of Obasanjo "as a terrorist who is a deadly security threat to Nigeria" His assertion of Obasanjo's "personal involvement in local squabbles and selective administration of jungle justice clearly attest to my contention", is nothing but a grinnade throwing comment of a writer who is looking for a smoke screen for a terrorist attack, in this case, dissortion of facts and personal vendatta which is common in Nigerian politics.

That the man Obasanjo is finding it difficult to metamophosis from his career as a military man and military dictatorship to his new position as a civillian head of government and democratic dispensation is the concessor line of all well meaning observers of Nigerian politics. No one can deny that the President has made several mistakes. They were expected. He is human afterall and not the messiahic image that was initially attached to him.One therefore wonder where Mr Zaiyol Karl has been and what vendetta he has against the President.

Another well acceptable part of human dignity is not to talk evil of a dead person. Decent and true sons of Africa don't do it, but not Mr Zaiyol Karl, if he is one. He again went a bridge too far in his comments about the late Chief Bola Ige. Here he: "Mr. Ige was no saint, neither was he a democrat; he was essentially a sophisticated turncoat in the Nigerian political power game, who often times abandoned his wisdom and legal acumen for selfish reasons. As Minister of Mines and Power, he was embroiled in serious financial improprieties he could not explain, and was abruptly reassigned to the Justice Ministry in a rather shroud manner, and his accusers were disingenuously dismissed from government service without due process" This is a very distastful and again a cheap political scoring of the highest order.

Lastly, Mr Zaiyol Karl's comments about Abbacha, Al Mustapha and Gani Adams exposes his political tendency, which he is allowed in a democratic society. However I hope in the future Mr Zaiyol Karl would please stop hidding his real intentions and tell us the truth, if you really have anything to write about.
