FEAR HAS TORMENT

ear has done so much damage in the lives of people. Many have died as a result of fear. Opportunities have been lost as a result of this evil. Many could not realize how great they would have become because of fear.

There was a missionary who came to Africa to preach the Gospel. One day he was going to preach somewhere and he rode on his horse. When the horse got to a certain location, it stopped and refused to move. The man got off the horse and looked round to see what was there. He saw a big snake near a big stone and he was scared.

Having heard stories of dangerous snakes in Africa, he started to calculate what solution could help out. He decided to quietly move back to his horse and go back home, saying that he would apologize to the congregation for not coming. He then heard the Holy Spirit say he would have failed in his duty, if he did that. He summed up courage and picked stones and threw them at the snake. To his surprise, the snake did not move. He moved back and threw more; then he realized that it was already dead. This means he was occupied for about 30 minutes, by a dead, harmless snake.

The Bible tells us that Jesus bruised the head of the serpent and that we should resist the devil and he will flee from us. It is when you declare war against the devil and correctly resist him that you will notice that he is a coward.

The problems of many people are tied to fear. Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and start thinking of what could go right. The Scriptures says "fear has torment." There are great things on the other side of fear only if you can cross over. Never let your fear decide your future. One of the surest ways to acquire success is to do what you are afraid to do. Don't let your fear of what could happen make nothing happen. Remember, "God has not given unto us the spirit of fear but rather He has given us a sound mind whereby we can cry Abba Father." The phrase, "Do not be afraid" is written 365 times in the bible. This is a daily reminder from God to live everyday fearlessly. God has made everything available; we must not allow fear stop us. We should never allow the pain of the past failures, disappointments and the fear of an unknown future affect the happiness of our today. Rest in the Lord and He will see you through it all.

Pilgrim (from the book: Pilgrim Progress by John Bunyan) arrived the vicinity of heaven. He was seeing the mansions from afar, hearing the songs of angels and he had to tread a narrow path. On this path, was a big lion and he was almost afraid, but he said to himself that he had suffered throughout the journey and he was almost at his destination; he said he would not turn back, that he would dare to face the lion. He was determined to get to heaven so, if the lion killed him at that stage, he would have tried. He decided to charge the lion head- on and engage it in a fight, not minding death. He moved back, ran forward and collided with it. To his amazement the lion was cardboard. It was meant to scare him and he would have lost, if he had backed out at that crucial point.

I have come to realize that if you want success, you will get it if you are not afraid to dare the status quo. People have a hard time letting go of their present suffering out of a fear of the unknown; they would rather prefer to suffer most times than to take a leap of faith into the unknown. Don't forget, fear is not real; it is a product of your thoughts. Embedded in the womb of fear is the precursor for your greatness. I admonish you; do not let fear freeze your destiny. You can be all that God wants you to be. With God, all things are possible. God bless you big.
