Visitations of the Past
(What the future may become)

t is common to point fingers and blame someone when things seem to go wrong, or at best, not the way we have expected. Man's memory is often limited to the present, and that has made it even common that we choose to forget the times we were at fault. We are quick to forget the times in the past when we planted the seeds (in thoughts or acts) that come back to haunt our present. So, when we come up to an unwanted situation in life, we are quick to search for the cause in the present, forgetting the root and foundation we laid in the past.

This piece comprehends that one's present situation in life is a totality of his past experiences. It is a result of how one dealt with his future in the past when the past was the present. However, once one comprehends why he is faced with a present situation in life, he ought to move on. It may not be advisable to dwell in the past. It is in the present that we build what the future will be. This is only my understanding, and I am still learning.

WHAT THE FUTURE MAY BECOME
(Merry-go-round)

It need not be said or repeatedly queried,
That every new night shall bow to a new dawn,
As the light of day follows the darkness of night
And the morning dawn does noon into dusk.

But it may be asked and queried too,
Whether we are our own ancestors,
Studying in history the lives we lived
Once in the times of a past era.

Yes, it may be asked and queried too,
Whether we are victims of our own crimes,
Paying for atrocities we have commenced,
Once in the guise of a past culprit.

Yes, it may be asked and queried too,
Whether we have lived life once before,
Reacting today to causes we set before,
Once in the guise of another flesh.

Find your answers for yourself, but
For me it's like a merry-go-round,
Leaders today will be led tomorrow, and
Oppressors today will be oppressed tomorrow

Find your answers for yourself, but
For me it's like a merry-go-round,
Culprits today will be victims tomorrow, and
Killers today will be killed tomorrow.

Find your answers for yourself, but
For me it's like a merry-go-round,
And today we choose what tomorrow becomes,
For soon enough, tomorrow will become today.
