ARE YOU UNEMPLOYED?
30 DIFFERENCES BETWEEN A JOB AND A WORK IN SPIRITUAL ANALYSIS

y son was visiting us here at The Jesus Christ Solution Center, Cameron TX and was taken aback by what the Lord God Almighty is capable of doing when we turn over our lives to Him. As we talked and shared notable reminiscences, he remarked of the paucity of job opportunities in our small village. I agreed with him that there are no jobs in our Central Texas Area but there are plenty of works for His Utmost. He was flummoxed. Is there any difference between a job and a work? Yes, there are plenty of differences between a job and a work. I went on to unveil to my son the works that are available here for those who have discernment and are called to the Work of the King. You see, there are plenty in life we haven't discovered and are completely in the dark. No one can live beyond his/her persuasion and your success in life is commensurate with the amount of knowledge you possess. By knowledge, I am referring to the one given us by the Holy Spirit as a gift from on High and not the one obtained through secular information disguised as education (I Corinthians 12:8b).

Remember when Hagar was running away from her mistress; Sarah with her tot and she ran out of water in the desert? She was exasperated and thought the end had come. Her strength had given way to self-immolation and the incipient death of her son, Ishmael. But Divine Intervention turned the story all-round as an angel opened a new chapter in her chequered storied career. In Genesis 21:19, we read: "Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water…" The well water didn't miraculously appear, but had been there all along until the True Lord God Almighty "opened" Hagar's eyes. Remember when the apostles were laboring and unable to catch any fish throughout the day in John 21? Like Hagar in the Old Testament, they too were wearied and gave out all strength. They had toiled all day long but without results, but when the King of kings and Lord of lords showed up, the situation changed. The King gave just one single command: "Cast the net on the right side of the boat," He-Jesus Christ-told them, "and you'll find some," (John 21:6a). Peter and his colleagues obeyed and the result: "So they did and they were unable to haul it in because of the large number of fish." (John 21:6b).

The Sovereign Lord God Almighty of the heavenly places and the universe isn't a magician. He doesn't just make things happen suddenly and unexpectedly and that is the reason He reserves miracles for emergencies in our lives. Most Christians do not realize the Lord God Almighty doesn't relish in performing miracles, because that is Fire Brigade Approach to human problems; rather, He wants us to tap into His Blessings. The latter are for more important and lasting than the former, because miracles are mere shorthand solutions to emergency situations in our lives. Why wait till there is fire outbreak in your home to call the nearby Fire Brigade and Fire Fighters when you can prevent a fire outbreak in your house in the first place? The fish had been at the right side of the lake all along, but the apostles were stuck on the left side. The water was already in the desert all along, but Hagar's eyes were shut until the Creator of the water opened her shut eyes.

I do not know where you're reading this right now; in the comfort of your living room, on your IPAD as you're about to board an airplane, in a church worshipping, reading in a library, at a job site flitting information on cyberspace, discussing with a colleague, texting on your cell phone, surfing the Internet and sundry places on earth, if you are employed, do something about it. From the beginning, the Lord God Almighty didn't create jobs for us. Adam was not given a job in the Garden of Eden. " The LORD God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it"(Genesis 2:15). I emphasized that word: "work" so you can know that God didn't intend us to have a job, but has a work for every creature He has sent and placed on this earth. When the Lord God told my wife and me to relocate from beautiful Chicago to this village here in Cameron, He told us He had a work for us.

A Christian Brother called us asking for spiritual direction on his career. He's a pastor but he wasn't making headway. The Holy Spirit told us to tell him to leave his "job" and devote his energy into the "work" the Lord had for him. In other words, he should work 100% for the King. Here were his words 12 months after he went full-time for the work the King of kings and Lord of lords gave him: "My dear spiritual father, since I resigned from all my works to give the Lord God Almighty 100% that He was demanding, to get money has been a bit difficult. But can you believe that God has been sustaining us. We've never lacked anything. To make matters worse sir, I gave out all my property according to God's instructions He said I should relocate to… with nothing but said He would establish me there. He said I would raise the foundations of many generations through His Power. I am most happy sir that the Lord brought you my way to help guide me and my family toward achieving this divine mandate. The prayer you offered to me and my family is being answered by the Lord. This prayer is not ordinary. A man told me recently that he would help to buy a car for me. …God bless you sir."

You who are in the habit of quoting the blessings of Abraham, are you ready to do and obey the instructions of the Lord just as Papa Abraham obeyed His instructions and commands? Imagine being told to leave the land of your birth, your familiar terrain, where you grew up and had all your buddies and relocate to an entirely new environments; new friends, new faces, new and new and new things and people and places? That was what the Lord told Papa Abram and that was what He told me and my wife, Dr Margie. No struggle comes without any demand; in most cases the demands affect our conveniences, but because He is the One calling us, we love Him to that level that we must obey Him. For you to be what you have never been before, you must be willing and ready to do what you have never done before. This is when the Holy Spirit teaches you the differences between a job and a work. Here are 30 distinguishing differences between a job and a work. At the end of the spiritual analyses, you should be able to answer the question in your life; Am I at a job or working?

  1. When you work for the Lord God Almighty, it is a lifetime, because you will still work for Him in the Age to come since He is eternal. But when you have a job, you will retire one day and thus a jobber is a temporal person whose skills have expiration date. As Apostle Paul pointed out in Romans 11:29: "… God's gifts and his call are irrevocable."

  2. As an employee, you're programmed to earn salaries so you can pay the bills and as surely as you live, two things engage your mind: taxes and death, which are constants in life. In a job, you have to take care of the bills first before you cater for your needs; but when you work, the Jehovah Jireh supplies both your needs and the money to pay your bills. "And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus" (Philippians 4:19)

  3. Unlike job which you can only secure through skills which you have to acquire and be train for; work for the King of kings and Lord of lords is innate. You don't acquire the skills needed to work for Him; He has already built it in you. As He told Jeremiah: "The word of the LORD came to me, saying, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations." (Jeremiah 1:4-5)

  4. Job is temporary because it is meant to take you from second to hour, hours into days, days into weeks and weeks into years thus it is temporary, but work is eternal. As the King Himself made clear in Matthew 16:27: "For the Son of Man will come in His Father's glory with His angels, and then He will repay each one according to what he has done." But He added that those who discharged their work responsibilities here on earth will have more responsibilities added unto them in His Kingdom. Consequently, don't ever think the work you're doing for the Lord right now is all that is to it; no, you and me are currently in training. The work continues in the Hereafter, don't forget.

  5. Job can either be fulfilled or frustrating and that is why people change jobs in order to be fulfilled but because the Lord God Almighty Who created you is the One Who gave you your work, He has already built everything you need to do His work around your personality and DNA. Those who work for Him cannot and can never be frustrated. "The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name" (Acts 5:41).

  6. Job is about living; you receive a paycheck and make a list of your bills and earthly needs which you spend your salaries on. In secular education, colleges and universities, they don't teach us about life but how to earn a living. Work for the saving of souls is about life. There is a difference between living or being in existence and life. Majority of people of the world are just living but have no life. All the religions of the world only offer the human race how to live a good life and all jobs on earth offer same, but candidly, what we need is life. That is what Jesus Christ came to offer when you work for Him: "Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father, but through Me" (John 14:6).

  7. When you have a job, you save for emergencies, because in the employment of other fellow human beings, nothing is guaranteed. That is why we are warned not to put trust in men. Days of famine do and will surely arrive and so jobbers prepare for days things are uncertain and in flux. On the other hand, when you are working for the Omnipotence, Omnipresent and Omniscient Lord God Almighty Who is not a shifting shadow and in total control and absolute in charge, you do not fear the days of famine. In fact, you give and yet not in want. As the Psalmist aptly pointed out: "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, "He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust" (Psalm 91:1-2).

  8. In a job, you can be jobless for the simple reason that you are employed by human beings like you susceptible to the vagaries of life and its many giddiness and uncertainties, but have you heard of a worker workless? Only jobbers can be jobless! Praise the Lord. "The LORD is my strength and my defense[a]; he has become my salvation .He is my God, and I will praise him, my father's God, and I will exalt him" (Exodus 15:2).

  9. Jobs give people money because they exchange their skills for payment. That is why it is called paycheck, which has a limit since no one can be paid more than the one who is paying you: your employers. Consequently, people who have jobs can be rich but on the other hand, only those who work can be wealthy and rich at the same time. Many people who have jobs are rich but there is a difference between riches and wealth. "Abram had become very wealthy in livestock and in silver and gold" (Genesis 13:2).

  10. When you have a job, you determine how and when including the level of your remuneration even as a self-employed person but when you work, the Jehovah Lord God Almighty determines your remuneration. Since Only Him owns everything, when and how including the level of your remuneration have limitless possibilities. Hallelujah! Psalm 75:6

  11. In a job situation, you're led by others either as supervisors or superiors and you report to them. Even in self-employment, you still report to someone: you. But when you work for the King of kings and Lord of lords, He is the Boss. He is the Best Boss to ever work for and with and you will be with Him forever, whereas, you will only be with and see your job boss in this life and life only.

  12. When you have a job, you operate under a schedule prepared by your employers. Eve when you're self-employed, you still operate under a schedule for fear of lacking and mindset that your self-efforts are the drivers of financial success. Your strength becomes your god like the Babylonians (Habakkuk 1:11b: "…guilty people, whose own strength is their god.") But when you are a worker in His Vineyard, the Holy Spirit is your Supervisor and He prepares your schedule accordingly (Acts 13: 1-3: "Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, "Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them." So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off."

  13. When you have a job, you're either your own boss as a self-employed person or the organization or institution you work for; but on the other hand when you work for the Lord, the Holy Spirit is your Boss. He is the greatest Boss both in the now and the hereafter.

  14. In earthly job and secular place of appointment, you apply and are interviewed and if qualified, you are then offered a position. But in the Work of the King, it is the other way round. "Then Jesus went up on the mountain and called for those He wanted, and they came to Him" (Mark 3:13). Can you see that He is the One Who called His own and no one needs to apply? And one more thing; everyone He calls into His Work is already qualified and the qualifications are seven universal qualifications namely: obedience, commitment, availability, trust, hope, love and faith. Just as Apostle Paul elucidated more in Ephesians 1:11b-13a: " In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory. And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation."

  15. When you work, you have no rivals, because you operate in your lane and are responsible to the Boss of bosses Who called you into His Work. But when you have a job, you compete with others in the job place. There is too much competition and at times, intrigues and dog eats dog in the latter for promotion and advanced to the next level, but in His workplace, promotion does not come from east or west; north or south but from Above and from Him; thus there is need for competition in His Workplace.

  16. When you have your work purpose on earth cut out for you as revealed by the King of kings, your prayer goes to the One Who called you in the days of famine, so you are recession-proof. You do not fear the pestilence of lay-off because everything about the Lord of lords is eternal and so also the work He has given you to do on earth. But when you have a job, your prayers must be first on behalf of your employers so they can continue to be in business and keep you in your position. It is when your employers are in business that they can keep you and write your cheque/check so you pray for the company, organization or institution first. As they say, no job and no pay

  17. When you have a job, there is a bar or point that you can reach and aspire to according to the rules of employment. But one thing is certain: your promotion cannot be more than the owner(s) of the organization, company or institution. But on the other hand, when you work for Him and His Highest, the sky is the limit.

  18. When you work, you operate by the spiritual law of place. In other words, you do not just go around because you're either called to a specific group of people or a person, like Moses worked for the children of Israel while Aaron worked for Moses. Apostle Peter was called to work for the Jews, while Apostle Paul was to work for the Gentiles. Over and over again, the wok of the Lord is audience-specific; no one is called to work for the whole world. In working for the King, your work is cut out for you. But having a job is a different ball game. You have no permanent place, because you can be transferred anytime and anywhere by your employers. In a job, labor has no permanent home.

  19. When you work, you operate by Godly Principles, but when you have a job, you operate by manly principles, because your work place organization and or institution are run by fellow human beings whose views are humanly and thus operate by the principles of the human race.

  20. When you work, you're heavenly-minded, but when you have a job, you're earthly-minded. Philippians 2:5 "In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:…"

  21. At a job, others; your employers, bosses, superiors, supervisors etc determine how you use your time. Since they pay for your time as an employee, they schedule you and thus control your 24 hours which the Lord God Almighty gave to every soul on earth. But when you work, you redeem your time.

  22. When you work, your earthly needs are supplied, but when you have a job, your needs are given by yourself, if self-employed or by your employers. An employed person relies on the riches of the earth for his earthly needs, but when you're God's worker, you receive your earthly needs from the bountiful riches of Christ 'Glory. Hallelujah!

  23. The employed person who has a job operates by risk, while the worker of the Lord's work on earth simply operates by faith and places his/her trust on the Jehovah Jireh, the Greatest Supplier of all needs. Since He has said, He cannot be pleased without Faith (Hebrews 11:5) so when you trust Him for your earthly needs, He will miraculously intervene from heaven to supply your earthly needs, because He has said it; "The laborer deserves his/her wages" (I Timothy 5:18).

  24. The employed person, either as a self-employed or being hired for wages by fellow human beings is only alive; whereas, the worker him or herself is life and live life more abundantly. Because the jobber or jobbing person lives by the dew of the earth like Esau in Genesis 27:39, but the worker in the Lord's Vineyard has his or her riches from the dew of the sky like Jacob in Genesis 27:28

  25. When you have a job, you work like an elephant, because your remunerations are determined by the number of hours you put in for your employers to remunerate you. That is why it is called minimum hourly-wage here in the United States and minimum wage and annualized salaries in other parts of the world. However, when you are a worker, you work like a rat and eat like an elephant because your ever-ready and constant Supplier is the Lord God Almighty of Increase and anything that touches His Hands must necessarily multiplies. Praise the Lord.

  26. In a job place, you serve others, but in God's Work place, others serve you since you're serving the Lord God Almighty and you are His representative on earth. That was the blessing Abraham and Isaac and Jacob had: "I'll bless those who bless you and curse those who curse you," (Genesis 12:2-3). Isaac appropriated the same Abrahamic blessing and he passed same to his son, Jacob "Those who curse you will be cursed and those who bless you will be blessed" (Gen. 27:29b).

  27. When you have a job and gave your best to your employers or organization or institution, you are awarded a plaque and given a Life Achievement Award which perishes, but when you are a worker for the Giver of Life, He gave you the Crown of Life James 1:11 and Revelation 2:10.

  28. When you are a good employee and you have given your all to an organization, an institution or even as a self-employed businessman or woman, after you are done and out of the scene, you're immortalized in the Hall of Fame. But when you're a worker for the Lord of lords and King of kings, your name is written in the Lamb's Book of Life. " (Revelation 20:11-15: "Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire."

  29. In a job situation, as an employee of an organization or institution, you live all the days and years at the job by your own sword (Genesis 27:40: "You will live by our sword, and you'll serve your brother"). Those who live by their own swords like Esau serve others and are answerable to those they serve, because those who own the slaves own what the slaves own and have. But when you're a worker for His Utmost, your field is blessed by the Lord since He is your buckler (Genesis 27:27-29: "So he went to him and kissed him. When Isaac caught the smell of his clothes, he blessed him and said, "Ah, the smell of my son is like the smell of a field that the Lord has blessed. May God give you heaven's dew and earth's richness-an abundance of grain and new wine. May nations serve you and peoples bow down to you. Be lord over your brothers, and may the sons of your mother bow down to you. May those who curse you be cursed and those who bless you be blessed."

  30. In God's scheme of things, your job is merely a vocation; while on the other hand, your work which He- you Creator- has given you to accomplish during the few years you and me have on this earth is your purpose. Only those who carried out to the end the purpose of their Heavenly Work to the finished line are called Over-comers and only the Over-Comers are entitled to the Lamb's Crown of Life.

Here is the conclusion of the matter now that you have seen the differences between a job and a work, which one do you want? Which one are you? Are you a jobber or a worker?

ANAMBRA 2017: IF GOV. OBIANO WANTS TO RETURN

On Friday January 06, 2017 we wrote in this column thus: " ANAMBRA STATE: Former Gov. Peter Obi should not give up and quit politics as there is a national role for him to play very soon in Nigeria. Willie Obiano will make it to his second term, but again, can APGA remain as one and minority political party? Obiano will have his mind to make in the next political re-alignment about to occur in Nigeria. Gov. Willie Obiano should go and reconcile quickly with Peter Obi, if he intends to return for a second term this year in 2017 for the governorship election. Ifeanyi Ubah should support Obiano as Ubah will not win. The rest political gladiators should wait till 2021 after Obiano's second term is done. The Ubah Brothers should pray against sudden death of one of their own. Link http://nigeriaworld.com/feature/publication/fayemiwo/010617.html

What we saw nearly a year ago is still the same. Gov. Obiano should do all within his powers and humanly possible to reach out to former Gov. Peter Obi so this will not be his undoing in the 2017 Governorship Election in Anambra State.
