"The world is dangerous place to live, not because of the people who are evil, but because of the people who don't do anything about it" -Albert Einstein.
he demand for restructure of Nigeria and a new constitution, which is being fiercely opposed by prominent northern politicians raise grave concern for the future of Nigeria.
The opposition ignores the fact that it is self-determination borne out of years of injustice, arrogance, exploitation, domination and intransigence, of the north. It is a change in the way Nigeria is governed, whose time has come.
It can neither be delayed nor differed. No one can hold it back. It is a demand for freedom, which cannot be ignored. It is a pregnancy, which must be delivered, or it will end in complication for mother and child. It is what happens when men have borne enough and would rather die than live without justice and Liberty.
Those who are opposing it are like Pharaoh opposing the will of God to let the children of Israel leave the bondage of Egypt. They might find themselves opposing God.
To say no to restructure of Nigeria is to attempt to hold back the tide of time. It is something no human being in history, no matter how powerful, has been able to do. It is arrogance and impudence personified.
Nigerians must now prepare for restructure, with everybody, politicians, agitators and traditional rulers involved. It will happen whatever anybody in Nigeria says because it is the right and just thing. It is legal and it represents a determined demand for freedom from oppression, hatred and injustice. No one can stop restructure of Nigeria. It is an event whose time has come.
A pip into the mind of some of the people who oppose the restructure of Nigeria
“The new nation called Nigeria should be an estate of our great grandfather Uthman Dan Fodio. We must ruthlessly prevent a change of power. We use the minorities in the North as willing tools and the South as a conquered territory and never allow them to rule over us and never allow them to have control over their future”- Sir Ahmadu Bello, the Saurdana of the Sokoto Caliphate and Premier of Northern Nigeria, Parrot Newspaper, 12th October, 1960, recalled by Tribune, 13th November, 2002.
Muhammad Yabawa AbdullaNever,we can,t marry infidels.quran 98:6 said kill them bc they are the worst of creature. Infidels should be killed as quran said, that is what we want to hear from you.war against infidels period.
"I will deal decisively” with anyone caught desecrating the Qur’an in the state" Governor Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara state.
No sensible people should allow those, who hold them in such contempt and regard them as the worst of creatures and worthy of death to exercise power over them or share a country with them, if they have a choice to be free.
Islam has only taught majority of Muslims in north Nigeria to hate and there can be neither peace nor true development in Nigeria, unless the Muslim north is free to focus on Islam and has no power to retard the progress of the south as it has done in the last 50 years or so.
"By Allah, we will not stop fighting until every Nigerian is living by sharia law. If you don't abide we will kill you"
Mujahedeen Ibrahim Shekau, leader of Boko Haram January 27 2013
"I will continue to show openly and inside me., the total commitment to Sharia movement all over Nigeria"
Muhammadu Buhari News 24 August 2001.
To the average northerner drunk on Sunni Islam, southerners are infidels worthy of death. This is the reason why their judges set them free, when they behead innocent Christians and commit pogroms.
This is why they believe they have a right to impose Islam all over Nigeria.
This is why they have occupied all important position, waiting for the order to start killing those who refuse to convert.
They see killing of southern as doing the will of their Allah, oblivious that they are acting out the primitive murderous instincts of their ignorant and hateful minds.
Nigerians must focus on achieving restructure, before the north, with the help of IS being driven out of Syria, turn Nigeria into another killing field and theatre of horror and medieval barbarism.
"I will like to quote Professor Ango Abdullahi that said there are three Boko Harams including the original one led by Muhammed Yusufu who was killed and his supporters tried to take revenge by attacking the law enforcement agencies and politicians. There is another developed Boko Haram of criminals who steal and kill… while the biggest Boko Haram is the Federal Government" Mohammadu Buhari.
Demand for restructure should now be the most important political aim of every rational Nigerian, who believe in Liberty, tolerance, equality, justice as fairness, rule of law and peaceful coexistence. This is what southern leaders should canvass and mobilise the people for. We need to look for a black goat, while it is still day.
No people can share a country, with people who harbour the kind of contempt Islam and ethnic prejudice compel the north to harbour against non Muslims in Nigeria.
They first step is to secure restructure and begin to map out the road map to freedom through legal, political, economic and diplomatic routes.
When I oppose methods that I believe may give the government excuse to use violence, it is because I am aware that we are up against a sectarian prejudices government in control of the state coercive apparatus with which it uses to suppress democracy and self-determination.
The right strategy would be one that denied the government the excuse to use violence and benefit from it. It would involve taking the struggle to the environment, where both the government and the oppressed would have opportunity to present their case to be adjudicated.
We need to take the struggle away from the battle fields and streets, where the government can deploy soldiers to courts and political arena of reason and the rule of law, where the government will depend on the force of its argument through its lawyers and diplomats.
This is the grounds on which we have a chance to win and it is on them this ground that we must insist the war is fought. The government is vulnerable in these areas because it has done wrong.
I would like to see the lawyers of federal government of Nigeria and the northern states in Nigerian courts justifying, the extrajudicial killings of peaceful protesters, detention of people without trial, implementation of discriminatory and differential school admission and employment policies, acquittal of Islamic extremists who behead Christians and refusal to prosecute Fulani herdsmen who commit crimes against humanity.
These arena will provide opportunities to expose the ignorance, religious prejudice and ethnic nationalism that is behind the governments' attitude and actions.
The demand for restructure of Nigeria is demand for freedom, equality and justice. It cannot be negotiable and those who make the restructure of Nigeria impossible, make the disintegration of Nigeria inevitable.
