olitical Correctness (or the PC police) has been in the news lately since Dr. Ben Carson speech at the National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC, as he rightly predicted the PC police have been after him since the speech. So what is Political Correctness or who are the PC police?
The best definition I came upon is by Phillip Atkinson, he defined Political Correctness as “a spontaneous declaration that particular ideas, expressions and behavior, which were then [once] legal, should be forbidden by law, and people who transgressed should be punished. It started [starts] with a few voices but grew in popularity until it became unwritten and written law within the community” [emphasis mine]. Mr. Atkinson was probably not a “Christian”, his write-up I read on political correctness seem to focus more on the political and moral degradation to the society, while both are true there is also a dangerous spiritual dimension to political correctness.
The biggest influences on human beings are our Nature (physical and spiritual) and Nurture (family of origin and communities we grew up in). Human is full determined before birth while a child is a clean slate when it comes to nurturing, the immediate and extend family, along with communities such as schools, churches etc. also have tremendous influence. From Neurological studies, we know that our experiences of life is stored in the compartment of our brain called the “hippocampus”, when the frontal lobe need to make a decision, it contacts the hippocampus via neurons for what to do. Apostle Paul knew this too well, when he wrote to the church in Rome, that after accepting Christ, they must be transformed by the renewing of their mind with God’s word, meaning replace whatever you’ve learnt or stored in your hippocampus with God’s word, once you know the truth.
Political Correctness is really the battle of ideas, expressions and behaviors, unbeknownst to many the contrasting ideas in our world today is really between two spiritual kingdoms, the Kingdom of Darkness, led by Satan and the Kingdom of Heaven on earth led by Christ, each kingdom has constitution, each kingdom has languages, each kingdom is spiritual but with tremendous influence on our physical world. The entrance of the these spiritual kingdoms into our world is through our senses (seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting, and touching) then processes in our frontal lobe and information stored in our hippocampus.
The ideas of the kingdom of Darkness directly contradict the principles laid down for humans by Christ in brokering the New Covenant, reconciling humans back to God. These demonic ideas are meant to turn humans against their God, away from the principles He has given them and the focus of the enemy through deceit is to take human eyes of off the True Vine and to focus it on self.
These ideas are given (through the mind) to humans who have influence in areas that would have the most effect – Media/Entertainment, Education, Religion, Family, Business, Government, and Arts. These humans then become the PC police – editors of media (print, audio and visual) outlets, Hollywood (movies) directors, school boards, board of regents across the land, Governors, legislators and Mayors, CEO of companies, and intimidated (or tares?) Pastors who seek to fit-in rather than stand for God’s Truth.
Here are some of the ideas originating from the kingdom of darkness (directly opposing God’s principles in the kingdom of Light) and it’s now the ideas, expressions and behaviors being pushed by the elites (PC police) in our generation
- Creation of the world: Evolution vs. Creationism? If you say creationism then you are an idiot, according to popular media.
- Acceptance of Immorality: Cohabitation, Homosexuality, mainstreaming Adultery, having a child without being married, etc. The Marriage Institution and God’s principle and basis for it, is no longer a big deal (because we are now in 2013) among the politically correct groups.
- Condemning “Christianity and Christians” as hypocrites is now a popular news segment, representing faith as stupid compare to science, viewing the Bible as a moral book that should change with time (culture), elimination of religious or faith elements from public square – No Merry Christmas, No Ten Commandment plagues on govt. buildings, No prayer in schools etc. Ecumenism in my opinion is a deal with the devil to water down True Christianity – in ecumenical circles, Christians are told not to end their prayers in Jesus name, so as to accommodate others?
- Rights and Dependence on God, being replaced with rights and dependent on the state – so the state now give and take rights, and rather than people trusting God for sustenance, they now trust the State as savior and master.
- Creation of “Minorities” (blacks, women, Islam in America, immigrants etc.) who are dubbed “victims”, if you oppose any of those the elites have dubbed “minority” or victims then you are either a “racist”, a homophobe”, a “bigot who hate immigrants” etc. No room for dissent – they define morality.
- Condemning success while elevating dependence. 1% vs. 99%, Majority vs. Minority, etc. It is only in a PC world that the person who contributes over 30% into a pot is said to be evil, while the person who contribute nothing is a victim? This is in direct violation of biblical teaching of hard work or how to take care of the poor amongst us (which we are commanded to do as believers out of our free will, not govt. redistribution)).
Media/Entertainment: it is not a secret that over 80% of those in the media in America say they are left leaning in a nation that once recognized God, from the top executives to the street reporters, the school of journalism basically teach their students what to believe, not how to report. The agenda of the nation is controlled by a very few cocktail elites who write editorials in mainline newspapers and on TV (yes, including Fox News), almost all of them argue from an intellectual (ideological) viewpoint only, with no spiritual insight on the issue. Hollywood and the movies it produces also promote many of these evil (PC) ideas, they give award to movies that portray the ideas they want to promote and don’t even nominate movies with any inclination towards God's standard of morality.
Almost every sitcom today has a homosexual character, even my favorite show “house hunters”, we are now barraged with false ideas that today, over 50% (lazy ones who make decisions based on what they hear on TV or read on-line from their favorite channel on internet) now say “gay marriage” is OK. Who says definition of morality is up for debate, whether we observe God’s principle or not?
Education: it is not too long ago that the bible was used as the grammar and literature textbook in America, today the ACLU and SLPC are intimidating school districts all over the country (with law suits), making sure that no reference to God is made, not to start a game, high school valedictorians are warned or their scripts reviewed to make sure God is not mentioned. As the father of 3 public school students, and someone who look through their curriculum, I believe it is almost impossible for any child that goes through the public school system (without a strong value from home) to survive graduating college without thinking that Government provides better that God, many of them (high and college graduates) don’t even know the difference between a “Democracy” vs. “Constitutional Republic” after two years of high school government classes.
Our universities are no longer a place where ideas are freely debated, professors now give marks to students who vote for particular candidates (with PC ideologies), professors with non-conforming ideologies are not tenured and run out of town, particularly if they are vocal with their opposing views on homosexuality, evolution, global warming, big government vs. small government etc. (the Politically Correct issues).
Religion: every human is created with a need to worship; the problem is “Who” are we worshipping? Satan tried tricking Jesus in the temptation (after He fasted) to worship him, four times Pharaoh told the Israelites to go worship God but with his condition, today the enemy has allowed us to worship, but not the way God instructed us.
The popular gospels today is the one that focus on the individual and what God can do for them, make them happy, give them money, etc. it is amazing the difference in testimonies I hear in countries like Nepal, Guatemala vs. in America, or other civilized countries are different. Holiness teaching is now like a taboo, tolerant-grace is the in-thing, rather than the Holy Spirit, gorilla marketing is now church growth model, a little music that is contemporary, a message that is positive etc. no wonder 72% of our kids abandon the faith (Christianity) when challenged in college. We worship and have taught them to worship at the altar of SELF.
Family: with the implementation of the PC ideas, don’t spank your children just promote their self-esteem, government would now take care of you – you don’t really need a husband, mainstreaming single parenthood (you are a mean and judging person if you say single parenting is mot ideal), marriage is no longer important, now it’s been redefined or it is evolving (according to our president).
What we have today after about 50 years experiment with these crazy PC ideas from the pit of hell, is over 70% of our kids now born in a single parent home, first marriages are now less that 50% while 1 in 2 of every marriage end in divorce, 7 states now consider marriage to be between any two individual not a man and a woman, over 47 million of Americans now rely on the government for some form of assistance, today we shame success and have mainstreamed receiving assistance, because of family breakdown -basically a good home, gang violence is now at an epidemic (meanwhile politicians keep thinking it is providing jobs?).
Business: the CEOs of large corporation are part of the elite cocktail group that promotes the ideas and behaviors that is politically correct. Huge corporations like GE, Sears, Target are at the forefront of promoting the PC ideas, Target for instance has been converting the disabled bathrooms in their stores to “gender neutral” bathrooms, both Sears and Target sponsored a program on NBC that showed a jesus who rose from the dead with a rifle and avenged his death killing Roman soldiers.
If you are a company that wants to stand for righteousness, then you are attacked vigorously, that is why it was heart-wrenching for me to read that Dan Cathy CEO of Chick-Fil-A ceased (in 2012) to donate to FRC and other Family organizations due to pressure. As much as I think the Catholic church is culpable on many social justice issues, I want to acknowledge Cardinal Dolan and the USCCB for not accepting the bate of HHS abandoning companies owned by people of faith that seeks to bring their values (conscience) in the workplace.
Government: politicians on both side of the aisle are culpable in promoting the PC culture, from Dick Cheney, Colin Powel, S.E. Cupp (of the Blazetv) and Laura Bush who all think Gay Marriage as law of the land is inevitable, to those who think $16.5T debt is no big deal – “we don’t have a spending problem…” Across the land, politicians have little regard for the constitution they swore to uphold, they simply enact new unconstitutional laws.
Our city, state and federal governments are encouraging laziness and nepotism at every level, they give big tax breaks to big corporations or unions yet they go in-front of the camera to yell at fat-cats (or deride unions), who in-turn donate to their campaign (it is all a scam) – unfortunately, many people don’t do their homework, they simply believe what CNN, FOX, NBC, ABC tells them about their favorite politician(s). America has been reduced to choosing the less of two evils (when it comes to PC and demonic ideas), for the past many election cycles, while we all head straight to hell, laughing all the way…hahaha!
To fight Political Correctness, we must know and be certain of the alternative. To me and the 9% of America who believe the Bible is the infallible word of God (76% claim Christianity but only 9% believe in the infallibility of the bible – Barna.org), we must know, be sure of and understand God’s principle for success and what brings His blessings (and wrath).
We know God desires our Worship and that our Lives bring Glory to His name, we know we cannot worship Him anyhow or in anyway, king David wrote that for us to ascend to God’s throne room and worship Him, we MUST have holy hands, a clean heart, not sold out to idols (money, fame, self, etc.) or engaged in deceits, the author of the book of Hebrew wrote, “without Holiness no one would see God”. We cannot continue in sin (calling it Grace) and expect to be close to God or benefit in His blessing, that gospel is not from God, what Jesus said was “neither do I condemn you, BUT GO AND SIN NO MORE”.
The 9% of us who believe in the infallibility of scripture are way more than the elites who have turned America (and the world) on the path of Political Correctness, the problem is, we are too intimidated to speak up, not sure how many true believers live in the state of Massachusetts, yet their public school is now a joke when it comes to immorality being taught as truth and no brave or courageous Christian is saying enough is enough and leading other parents to stand for righteousness. Recently, in my city a “Christian” person in government said to a pastoral leader that we “Christians” are becoming a one issue people, when this person knows that is an absolute lie, but had to repeat the intimidating political language. Lack of Knowledge and Fear are two huge factors that hinder true believers from standing up to political correctness.
I applaud the courage of Rev. Billy Graham and his son Rev. Franklin, Dr. James Dobson, Dr. Alveda King, Rev. C.L. Bryant, and recently Dr. Benjamin Carson, non-political people who are willing to stand for God’s truth against Political Correctness (the press has successfully made everyone believe that if you stand for the bible then you are a Republican – NOT TRUE), when they know the cost is high. I would also like to remind those who are still hiding under the cloak of ignorance or fear, that God did not judge Sodom and Gomorrah simply because of their sin (yes, it was gross) but really because there was no one (at least 10 people) in the land who would stand in the gap for their nation.
It is only the Truth that we know that sets us free, and it is death to self and selfless obedience to God that keeps us plugged-in under pressure like Moses, David etc. We have all been born into this generation for such a time as this. What are you going to do about the political correctness that is causing decay in your world and under your watch? Are you simply talking and complaining about it or are you standing-up and doing something about it in your sphere of influence?
