ave you ever given it a thought that whatever position you are in, it is a priviledge given to you by God, particularly when you have not committed some fouls to get there?
And if it is a priviledge given to you by God, note it that one day, you must render the account of your stewardship before God, who gave you the priviledge.
Your position may not be one of eye brow or envied. And it may be. If it is an exalted or envied one, do you assume you got there as a result of your smartness or wisdom?
Have you ever sit down and ask yourself whether you are using that priviledged position, that priviledged office, that privileged uniform to glorify God, to benefit mankind, to better the lives of others and to save lives or are you using your privileged position to tramp down on the less priviledged?
Are you using your privileged position to the benefit of only your family members and those who sing your praises?
Have you ever sit down to ask God, what He will have you do with the privilege He gave you?
I will be talking to you today on "Your privilege"
But meanwhile let us commit this hour to God in prayer.
Have you ever sat down to work out how you can be a blessing to your country, whatever your status?
Do you think you have to have great wealth or occupy a high office before you are a blessing to your world? No.
Are you an office clerk or messenger? Do you hide files? Do you take gratification before you pass the files to the appropriate places?
Are you an account clerk, who a contractor must share his contract money with, before you process his file for payment?
Are you a member of the syndicate who takes money from students before they are given admission into higher institutions?
Are you a Driver, who removes vehicle parts of your work place and sell it?
Are you a trader who imports fake products and fake medications for sale?
Are you a market woman who creates scarcity of market commodities?
Are you a Motor Mechanic who deals with your customer with insincerity?
Do you cheat your business partners?
Do you dupe them?
Do you buy anything on credit with a promise to pay the balance at a certain time but renege and when you are called, you do not even pick the phone?
Is any road construction going on in your area and you insist that the contractor must share his contract money with you else you will disturb the work, in spite it is your area that is being developed?
Did you have once sell a piece of land to someone and after some years, you came demanding that the person must rebuy the land, else you will sell it to someone else and if he institutes a court action, you will not answer?
These are the kind of behavior, which do not allow our country to make progress and why we are not able to catch up with the developed world.
Do you now see that you do not have to occupy a high office before you are a blessing or a curse to the society you live in?
Yet when we are talking about poverty that has enveloped us and our lack of development, you who is full of so many atrocities, will quickly point accusing fingers to those in government, when you yourself, you are more evil than them. Yet you do not miss any prayer time!
For you who have made it to some extent, particularly when you have not committed some fouls or commit murder to get there, just sit down and reflect over your life journey to success.
God chose you out, among millions to get to where you are.
Have you then ever sit down and ask Him why it has pleased Him to single you out for that opportunity and what He will have you do with that opportunity, how you can be a blessing to your country with that job, with that position?
Let me tell you today that God had put you in whatever position you are, for the blessing of the world around you and not necessarily for your pleasure alone.
Hear Paul as he addressed the Roman Church.
"God has given each of us the ability to do certain things well.
So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, then prophesy whenever you can-as often as your faith is strong enough to receive a message from God.
7 If your gift is that of serving others, serve them well.
If you are a teacher, do a good job of teaching.
8 If you are a preacher, see to it that your sermons are strong and helpful.
If God has given you money, be generous in helping others with it.
If God has given you administrative ability and put you in charge of the work of others, take the responsibility seriously.
Those who offer comfort to the sorrowing should do so with Christian cheer"
If all these while, you have been using your priviledged job, your priviledge office to the exclusive of your enjoyment and those of your family members and others who lick your boots, it is high time you repent and immediately start to plan prayerfully how you can be a true blessing to your world.
Get it clear today that God has work He will have you do for humanity is the reason why He puts you in that position.
Paul the Apostle wrote the Philippians Church that for him to live was Christ and to die would be gain (Phil.1:21).
Same Apostle Paul writing the Corinthian Church told them "And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you (2Cor.12:15).
How I wish every Nigerian will have this kind of mind! How beautiful Nigeria will have been?
How I wish every Nigerian has this kind of mind, how peaceful Nigeria will be; free of joblessness, our God given wealth will have been felt by everyone. Our roads will have been solidly constructed. There will have been scholarship for all students of whatever stage. There will have been good health care for all citizens. We will not have known hunger or economic recession.
This is the first part of my sermon on the topic "Your Privilege" By the grace of God, I will continue next week.
Let us pray
