PRAYER FOR NIGERIA MADE ON OCTOBER 1, 2014

ather in the name of Jesus, I stand in the gap for Nigeria today, pleading for mercy, pleading for the healing for the nation. Nigeria is sick. Seriously sick. I stand in the gap not because I am holy but because I am concerned about the suffering of the citizens. I am concerned about the people who want to live a godly life so that they will be worthy of acceptance into heaven but who meanwhile, life is so harsh for them and except the harsh situations are reversed, they may dip their hands into sin and miss heaven. In fact many have already compromised godliness because of the difficult time.

I stand in the gap because I know you are a merciful God and with you, nothing is impossible. I am certain, absolutely certain that you can heal the land and everyone will become partakers of the wealth, which you have endowed us with so that temptations to sin, will be minimized and our journey to heaven will be made easier.

I am a witness to the time past, after independence, when the wealth of the nation was for the nation. Developments were going on, consistent with the little wealth the nation had.

Revenue was majorly from produce of groundnut, cotton, cocoa, rubber, coal, tin etc. But progress was made because no one diverted the government's money into his private pocket. Candidates seeking posts did not have to give money to party members.

The rulers had a common focus; development of the nation and the welfare of the citizens were their concern. So, no individual sat on the treasury and dispense it to whoever he wills, in what I call "Selective generosity" while others live in misery.

Everyone, Government and the governed at the time lived a humble life. No one lived in extreme affluence and no one was in severe want.

Students, particularly, those in the Universities lived like kings. Both the men and women were very robust, well fed at the expense of the government.

High School Students who went to Government run schools also lived like kings.

Those who went to Mission or Community run schools themselves also lived modestly. Yet, there was no revenue from oil.

But in the twinkling of the eye, the spirit of mammon sneaked into the hearts of both the rulers and the governed and consideration for the nation and welfare of the citizens gave way to self. All other promises became political talks, on the lips.

Individuals started to amass wealth of inestimable value thus decimating the general populace.

While some live in palatial homes and have them, not only in Nigeria but across the globe, other citizens live in places, which goats if they can speak, will repel.

They live in crowded homes and environment, homes without toilet facilities. They defecate in the open. The whole environment stinks. One steps on human wastes passing in between houses. They dump their wastes around the same house they live or in gutters.

Father it is time you help us rebuke the evil spirit of mammon in the hearts of every Nigerian.

Evil spirit of mammon ruling in the air space of Nigeria and in the hearts of citizens, I rebuke you.

The Lord rebukes you, spirit of mammon.

You have planted selfishness, wickedness and lack of consideration for fellow human beings in the hearts of Nigerians.

Many Nigerians no longer have respect for sanctity of life.

They kill fellow human beings for rituals, either for money making purposes or to attain power.

Nigerians do abominations; they drink human blood and eat human flesh in their bid for wealth and position.

Spirit of mammon reigning in Nigeria, the blood of Jesus rebuke you, you are cursed with heavenly curse.

Politicians lie. Religious leaders are not better. Father God, You expect Religious leaders to warn people of their evil practices and call them to repentance but they are unable to do this because the evil spirit of mammon has over taken their hearts as well.

I realize however that you have not called many of them. They have gone into it, for monetary gain. But Father you can turn their hearts to yourself and make them become useful to you. Father please do it.

So, you spirit of mammon in the hearts of Religious leaders themselves, I rebuke you, get out of them in Jesus name.

Every one of you listening to me, under this prayer, who are being tormented by the spirit of mammon, I free you now by the blood of the Lamb. Accept your freedom in the name of Jesus and henceforth, you will no longer dupe people again. Those of you in government service and particularly in government uniform will no longer be difficult to people again in order to extort them, you will no longer accept gratification before you perform your duties.

In the name of Jesus, people of Nigeria will no longer commit murder nor shed the blood of the innocent and Nigeria will have peace.

God will make you in Boko Haram to have your eyes opened and realize that you are not working for God but Satan.

Repent of your evil all of you in Boko Haram group in Jesus name.

The fee to pick application form for any elective post in Nigeria is far from the reach of the average man. It ridicules the average man.

Application fee is fixed at between N10m and N27m. The interpretation of this to me is that a poor man is not wise and so cannot be a state Governor or President of Nigeria.

It is not people like him we want as our governor or President, however wise he may be in spite you have stated clearly in your word in Proverbs 14: 31 that "Those who oppress the poor insult their Maker----"

Father, give these politicians wisdom to consider your counsel so that our country can be like other countries of the world that have developed, where it is not very easy to distinguish between the rich and the poor.

If a person buys form at N10m, N22m or N27m, does this not imply that he has purchased the treasury if he wins?

Where else in the whole universe is application fee so high? And I know that the largest population of Nigerians has never gathered even a million Naira all their days on earth.

Where else in the whole earth do candidates seeking elective posts distribute money to party members?

Where else in the whole universe do party members demand for money from candidates?

Father, how long will it take you to have mercy on us and wipe ignorance out of us?

Why then should we complain of poor roads, lack of water, lack of electricity, poor health system, poor education facilities etc?

Or, who will buy an application form in millions, distribute money to party wards and not take over the treasury after he wins.

Well, for those who belong to one party or the other, they have received something at least, howbeit little. But what about people who do not belong to any party? It is not compulsory for every citizen to belong to a party. The only compulsory duty for a good citizen is to vote.

Father in Jesus name, I am pleading for nothing but mercy, because of those who want to enter heaven and live with you at the end of this world, so that they can have opportunity to live a life of godliness, which will qualify them to live with you.

I know as I pray, the devil will be speaking to the hearts of some people, with negative thoughts that, Nigeria situation has no remedy, yet they go to Church and Mosques to pray. Father, grant them the faith to know that with You, nothing shall be impossible. Let them not fall into the camp of that Samaria Officer, who suffered the famine that ravaged Samaria for years and saw it disappear under 24 hours but who did not partake of the abundance due to unbelief and negative talk.

I know also that as I pray, there will be some ridiculous people who will say "Do not mind him, if he himself gets to power, he will do the same, it is because he is not in power that is why he sees the stealing of the rulers as 'haram'

Some will say "they which wait at the altar are partakers with the altar" (1Cor.9:13). Father, I pray that you will enlighten their minds to see these statements as evil, generated from the throne of the devil because everyone who works and his salary is paid has partaken of the altar, every other thing outside the salary is stealing.

It is statements like these from the throne of Satan, that make the people of this country indifferent to the corruption that has dealt serious blows to us, whereby we have no credible health facilities, no electricity; resulting in the fold up of private businesses, no portable water, education in shambles, graduates of ten, fifteen years roaming the streets.

Statements of these kinds, make them indifferent to the stealing of Government fund by all and sundary. They have no problem to accommodate rogues, in the society, people living outside their visible income. They romance with people who they should dissociate with and they make effort to enter their camp; the camp of the ungodly. They do not consider your word, which says "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? (Mark 8:36).

My father, cause the people who have this mind, a rethink, to know that this world is transient but heaven is permanent eternal home and this is the one they should strive to enter.

Father, I want to pray for the youths of this country. The large majority of them are already evil minded at such an early age. Every of their imaginations are evil. Get rich quick syndrome has over taken the heart of many of them. They dupe people; young and old, even old enough to be their grandfather, without fear or their conscience bothered.

In the time past in this country, youths were the defenders of good governance. University students stood firm against oppressive policies. Alas, university students of today are different; rather than standing for the good of their future, many of them are lured into cults by politicians and are used as thugs.

Father, cause them to realize that these acts of duping, robbery and armed robbery, kidnapping, yahoo yahoo, acts of 419 and all other vices are not the solution to their problems but that these vices will only escalate whatever their problems are and will lead them to eternal destruction in hell.

Father, cause them to repent and to seek ways to do all that are necessary to do in order to enter into heaven and enjoy life eternal with you after they depart this world.

From all these problems that are highlighted and are associated with concerned groups, I wonder if there is anyone in the country who is not guilty of one fault or the other. And I can only ask father that you forgive us; You are plenteous in mercy.

The truth is that we have despised your counsel and wisdom. You sent us on a journey to this world and you set guidelines for us in order to enjoy it to the maximum, but we ignore your guidelines in Nigeria and we are going our ways; the way of sin. We despise your wisdom, thinking that your wisdom is too slow in order to reach our goal. So we commit all kinds of evil. Let your Holy Spirit Lord, convict every one listening to this prayer, irrespective of his/her religion of his or her sin and to abandon his/her sinful ways and quickly seek your wisdom and start to live by it so that our nation can progress and catch up with the developed world.

Houses of worship are full to capacity on Sundays and Fridays. In fact many houses of worship open seven days a week. Ibadan-Lagos express way has become a beehive of religious jamboree with millions in attendance every month. Sign posts of places of worship pervade every of our streets and corners. Each town and villages have many mountains and hills, yet ungodliness, wickedness, selfishness, dishonesty, lack of consideration for others, cheating, duping, receiving of gratification before paid jobs are done, being difficult on duty in order to extort etc pervades the whole environment.

I know father that you have no delight in all these 24hrs, seven days a week gathering as to obedience to your word. Your word says "Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams (1Sam 15: 22).

If we all had lived in obedience to your word, it will have been good for us all, we would all have been partakers of the wealth of the nation, rather than the wealth being in the hands of a few, who dispense it to their surrogates and sycophants, while the rest are in hunger.

And because we are disobedient to your word, we worship these individuals rather than you our creator and these also see themselves as semi gods. O! Father, that we may repent, for our own good.

If we had lived in obedience to your word, our cities would have been beautiful like others in the world.

Your word says that "Righteousness exalts the nation but sin is a reproach to any people" (Prov.14:34)

We are in reproach because we adapt the way of sin rather than the way of righteousness. We are ridiculed in the comity of nations. Corruption is synonymous with the name Nigeria in the comity of nations and our leaders are not bothered nor in a hurry to catch up with the rest of the world; all that occupy their brain is how to siphon oil money into their private bank accounts abroad and how to live ostentatiously, going about in flowing gowns like that of a cockroach, thinking that is what constitutes a good life. And we too the citizens rather than despising their life of profligacy, we hail them, hoping that one day, we too shall get to their position. Father, that we may realize our stupidity before it is too late.

Your word equally says "If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land"

We want to eat of the good of the land but we are not prepared to be obedient to your counsel, not prepared to go the path you chose for us in order to be able to eat of the goodies of the land.

Nigeria is one of the few countries that you have highly favoured. You gave us natural resources that translate into tremendous wealth. But due to disobedience, we are not able to avail ourselves of your kindness, so majority live in squalor. Father, let everyone listening to this prayer be quick to henceforth repent and turn back from their destructive path, take up your wisdom and follow your footsteps.

Father in closing, I pray for all the individuals who are supporting this campaign, aimed at giving the nation comfort with their prayers and with their financial resources that you will bless them beyond and above their expectation. Please meet them at the points of their need and most importantly that their names and mine will not be missing in the book of life in heaven. I pray for them and myself too that you will cause us to see our desire for Nigeria come to pass in our life time, having labored for it so much. Thank you for hearing it all and thank you Father for hearken unto it in Jesus name.
