PRAYER OF THANKS AFTER THE MARCH 2015 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION

(Text of my radio broadcast on Sinday Apr. 05 2015 on Kw FM at 900am & Osun Broadcasting Corporation (OSBC) 4:30pm)

ome 3 weeks ago, I led you in prayer that God directs our minds to cast our ballots for the emergence of leaders who will be sympathetic to our cause, who will dispense our God given wealth to reach all citizens, those who will take our poverty and reproach as a nation away.

I said in that prayer that it is only God who sees the inner mind of man. He knows those who will govern us selflessly and in righteousness. So I led you in prayer that God should work in our hearts and make us to cast our ballots for a leader who will serve us selflessly and in righteousness.

Meanwhile, I can observe that most citizens have joy in their minds at the one who God had chosen to captain the ship of our nation for the next four years.

I am grateful to all of you who soon as the winner was emerging started to send me congratulatory messages. It came to a point that I asked one fellow why all these congratulatory messages are directed to me when I did not contest any election. He replied that for years I have been advocating the attributes or character of who will rescue us from poverty and we now have someone whose resume (CV) meets those attributes.

Therefore I want to lead you today in prayer of thanks to God for His faithfulness in answering our prayers. A Yoruba adage says that someone who does not give thanks after receiving favour is a thief.

So beckon to all your family members and neighbours to join us in this prayer of thanks. Pick your phones and call your friends to tune to us right away to join us in the prayer. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results (James 5.16).

But first, let Deacon Dr. Kayode Samuel lead us in prayer.

Prayer of thanks to God for anointing a godly President elect-General Buhari (rtd)

Psalm 126

126 When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion, we were like them that dream.

2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: The heathen i.e. those who have ruled Nigeria off, who have said there was no more remedy for Nigeria, themselves could recognize the Lord's doing and they said "The LORD hath done great things for us"

3 The LORD hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad.

4 Yes, the LORD has done amazing things for us! What joy!

4 Restore our fortunes, LORD, as streams renew the desert

5 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.

6 They weep as they go to plant their seed,

but they sing as they return with the harvest.

Father, I thank you because you are ever faithful in spite of our faithlessness. Our faithlessness will not stop you from doing whatever you intend to do for us.

Three weeks ago before the Presidential election, I said in my prayer that the foundation of poverty is already laid with the fee to purchase an elective post or, who will buy an application form in millions, distribute money to party wards and not take over the treasury after he wins.

But father, I thanked you in that prayer because you have settled that problem with me. You said you have heard a prayer I made sometimes to you where I asked that even though the nomination fee for elective posts is outrageous, you should give some of them the mind to work for the good of the nation; that you will raise people like Nehemiah who in all the 12 years he was Governor (444 - 432 BC) in Jerusalem, he worked prayerfully, relentlessly and selflessly to end the hardship of his people and he received no salary because according to him,

"The bondage was heavy upon this people" (KJV) or in the LB "They were already having a difficult time" (Neh 5:18).

With what we know of the character of the President elect, citizens believe that we have got the person of Nehemiah in General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) and I thank you father for making this to happen.

But General Buhari with his integrity, zeal and love for the prosperity of the nation cannot succeed in taking our poverty and reproach away except all the citizens decide by the enabling power of God to allow him to operate.

In my prayer for the nation broadcasted in January this year, you said father that in spite of all our short comings, you will be merciful to Nigeria because of the remnants who seek you amidst all odds, those who refuse to be discouraged, who refuse to lose hope in Nigeria and in your power to effect changes. Thank you father for bringing this into reality with the emergence of General Buhari as President elect.

But father you added a clause to it "This is if we people will not strap (muzzle) your hands because even if you want to show mercy, it depends again on whether we will allow you to do it"

This is because the behavior of the present crop of Nigerians is very different from that of our fathers. We are mostly greedy, wicked, inconsiderate, selfish, inpatient and full of all evil practices.

By the time General Mohammed started to do things that will benefit the whole populace, the greedy and those who have been cheating us and who have been profiteering from corrupt practices, will be offended and will be looking for his fall. Things will not be as usual for many and they will plot for his removal. Father I pray that you will disgrace these enemies of the general masses.

With General Buhari at the helm of affairs, certainly, things will not be as usual for the Legislative houses and as such, reasons for impeachment will not be in want because distribution of "Ghana must go bags" for them will cease.

A one-time legislature said that they have not gone to make poverty in the house. Nowhere in the world does any legislature take the kind of salaries and emoluments, which ours take. They are all wicked souls who have no consideration for the masses. Father there is nothing impossible for you; cause them to repent of their evil salary and emoluments and let them fix their salaries and emoluments to be compatible with those of their partners worldwide and in consideration with the prevalent poverty in this country. Father cause them to tow the example of General Buhari.

Recently, some people working at a site were seriously arguing and shouting on one another over mere N300.00. I almost wept that N300.00 could be an issue with how worthless N300.00 is in the present day Nigeria. Yet some people in the same country, particularly, our politicians take home every month, millions of Naira from the government coffer.

A lot of citizens are not comfortable with those who surround the President-elect. People do not trust them because there is nothing progressive about them, which their party stands for. They have made stupendous wealth at the expense of the people they claim they serve. They are treasury looters, selfish, murderers and arrogant. Except these people change their life-styles, they will bring Buhari down. But since you are a merciful God, please cause them a change of heart so that they will start to think less of the wealth of this earth but start to consider heavenly things. Father, let them realize that this world is transient; that they brought nothing into the world and they will not take anything away with them the day they die and with their present life style, they are doomed for hell. Father cause them to seek a place in heaven for themselves and to work towards it.

Father, my heart is full of thanks to you for the ray of hope to the end of our suffering and reproach in Nigeria, as I am seeing it.

Except I was sure that it is you O Lord who have sent me on this mission, I have been overwhelmed with challenges that ought to have caused me to pack up the campaign.

Many have duped me on this mission while many have told me that my effort to make Nigeria a land of Praise is a waste of time and money, that it is impossible again. But I refused to be discouraged with their faithlessness and negative talk because they were not the one who gave me the assignment

Today Lord, I thank you that we are able to pass the first hurdle by giving us a leader, with a very fairly clean CV (resume).

Work now start at encouraging the populace to live a godly and righteous life because however righteous or godly or determined and disciplined, any head of government, whether at the Federal or State can be, they cannot succeed in the midst of ungodly majority. Such a righteous president or Governor will be speedily frustrated and impeached by the ungodly majority. Reasons for impeachment cannot be in want.

Father as I will be starting to organize Solemn Assemblies in towns for the purpose of living a godly life, let people of all religions cooperate and see it as an effort to benefit us all rather than a religious divide. And please Lord provide for the financial resources.

Father I pray for good health and protection for General Buhari (rtd). I pray that you assist him in the selection of his cabinet and advisers.

I pray that just as we have seen a change in the center, that there will be changes in all states that you dim fit for changes, which will bring relief to your people.

I thank you for your peace that reigned throughout this election period. Thank you for quenching all rumours of war. Glory to your name for ever and ever.
