LEGALIZING SAME SEX MARRIAGE IN NIGERIA IS AGAINST AFRICAN DEITIES

It is obvious that on January 18, 2007 at the tail end of Obasanjo's administration, the Federal Executive Council kicked against same sex marriage with the passage of Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act 2006, and sent it to the National Assembly for urgent action. The intent of the bill was to ban anything remotely associated with being 'gay' or just gay in Nigeria. The Act rigmarole since then before it finally crept into the Senate in 2011.

Being the third time (2011) that the legislators would be walking the path of debating Anti-Gay Marriage Bill in Nigeria, most Nigerians would agree with Senator Victor Lar that same sex marriage is 'ungodly' and 'satanic' as it is capable of desecrating the institution of marriage as no child would come from same sex marriage. On kicking against same sex marriage Senator George Sekibo, stated that it would be unthinkable for anyone to refer to two of his male colleagues as husband and wife and informed that "even animals have not degenerated to that level". Senator Domingo Obende added that "gay marriage will cause sexually transmitted diseases, childlessness, old age-loneliness and mental problems".

It will be an insane individual who would think that homosexuals are made the way they are because nature made them that way. With the blind argument that because there are hermaphrodites and androgens so they are made the way they are by nature and it is no fault of theirs that they don't look like regular human beings.

If we may ask ourselves what exactly is our business if a man chooses to sleep with another man, or a woman practices sex with her female counterpart? Either we believe it or not homosexuality is being practiced in Nigeria. We agree that no one should be stopped from practicing whatever individual pleases in the corners of his or her bedroom, as being currently done for money or other super natural oddities. The fact remains that same sex marriage is un-African. The crying from most Nigerians is that Nigeria should not institutionalize same sex marriage.

Most Nigerians are concerned why the National Assembly is even wasting the Tax Payers money on this subject at the expense of other pressing issues like security, food, health, better infrastructure and overall welfare package for Nigerians.

In addition those who practice same-sex marriage should also be banished and make them join their fellow lower animals in the practice in a cage. You are laughing, it is not funny, and it is a sickness lower than animals that don't practice as stated by Senator George Sekibo.

Dame Patience Jonathan has put in a very raw comical language, "Same sexing is an abomination; it is not in Africans for Man to be climbing Man and Woman climbing fellow Woman. God created Man to romance the Woman, so I commend National Assembly on this one".

The practice of same sex marriage violates Nigeria's traditions and customs. In addition African culture forbids same sex marriage and considered it evil, abomination, immoral, animalistic, and unhealthy. Unfortunately, the west has abused civilization when conventional wisdom is being condemned to the whims and caprices of westernization.

Most Nigerians would rather go for death sentence for the practitioners, as those who practice it are considered to have been inflicted with demons. Senator Baba Dati stated that "such elements in society should be killed." Some Nigerian Senators are very tensely angry at this practice as most of them would be less worried by the presence of females parading the corridors of the National Assembly.

If Nigerians were short of accolade for Senate President David Mark before, he deserve a pat on the back this time for stating that, "If there is any country that wants to stop giving us aid because we want to pass the bill on same sex that country can go ahead. We are a sovereign nation and we have the rights to decide for ourselves because no country can interfere in the way we run our country. Same sex marriage is against our own culture and tradition and against our beliefs."

Same-sex marriage ban makes Nigeria the second country in Africa to criminalize such a union. As a matter of fact only about ten countries in the world have legally recognized same sex marriage for political reasons not for the people's welfare. In 2005, the Ugandan constitution was amended to ban same-sex marriage.

The partition of Africa still poses major challenges of ethnicity and religious tolerance in the continent. Now with another nauseating dimension of encouraging same sex marriage is a diversion from any progressive programs in improving the welfare of the people. New-colonization approach through any other means at the dictates of the foreign countries under the disguise of foreign aids should be discouraged.

The Nigeria National Assembly has done what is right for Nigeria in criminalizing Same-Sex marriage in Nigeria. The bill, if finally passed by the House for the President sign it into law; it would make same-sex marriage punishable by a 14-year jail sentence and turn supporters or witnesses of such unions as criminals as well. Under the new law, groups that support gay rights would also be banned.

Homosexuality is already illegal in half of the Nigeria under Sharia law punishable by death, and in the rest of the country it is punishable by 14 years in jail. As we may ask who is bringing this into focus again in spite the gargantuan human challenges at stake for Jonathan Administration to resolve more than same sex marriage.

Are women not enough to go round? Are Nigerian men tired of marrying as many wives as the tradition is allowing? What is happening to Nigeria in the name of romancing anything from the West?

Let us face it, "Same Sex Marriage" and all forms of canal relationship between same sex is totally immoral and criminal, and should not be allowed in Nigeria for the benefit of our children and younger generation.

Most Nigerians are concerned that Homosexuality is a lifestyle by practice and choice, but by no means, a course not a choice as much as raping and other vice that torture human existence? Does the term "choice" hanged on those reckless and immorality remove the fact that those acts are devilish?

For those supporting and relating with the same sex marriage as "the right to freedom of private and family life and to freedom of association", must belong to that class of practicing the ungodly, devilish and abominable acts under the cover of human rights. Could we rightly relate their acceptance of the practice with Drug Trafficking and Drug Taking, Armed Robbery and Gangsters, as the freedom of private and family life and freedom of association?

Unfortunately, some men of God that are supposed to treat the Holy Books with respect have resolved into promoting what should never be brought to house of worship at all. According to Rev. Rowland Olajide Macaulay, who ran a church secretly in Nigeria, the House of Rainbow, situated at No 36/38 Yakoyo Street, Ojodu Berger, Lagos, appearing on CNN sometimes proclaimed that, "My Church is a voice of the younger generation of citizens, activists, and Diaspora, and our collective belief in a more progressive Nigeria. They are afraid of our growing influence as we gather allies not just from the West, a people that are not afraid but powerful and resilient. Right now, they are spreading their tentacles to every village, town and city around the world".

When Macaulay first set up House of Rainbow in 2006, where he openly held Sunday services in a Lagos Hotel hall decorated in rainbow colors, have his members thoroughly beaten up. After receiving death threats he fled to United Kingdom, on Saturday, September 13, 2008.

If the Clergy wanted something good for his followers, there are things that would make their life worth living, not the nauseating practice of Same-Sex marriage. It is a total an abominable act from any man of God to propagate same sex marriage, gay, lesbian or whatever name we choose to call it.

Demonstration at Nigerian House New York

Unfortunately some Nigerians Abroad that is gay and lesbian and publicly protested is un-African. Some were not too comfortable showing their faces, reading from their protest pictures. They were shamefully supported by their foreign partners across the world. Those Nigerians are lost and are the right group to refer to as Nigerians in Diaspora. They are completely lost to the world of practicing "Man to be climbing Man and Woman climbing fellow Woman" game, borrowing from Dame Patience Jonathan. They can rot in their same sex marriage in the countries they have established their gadgets like Ghana, Burundi, Lesotho and now in Nigeria. It should never be allowed to manifest in Nigeria.

Ironically and very amazing, within a couple of days of the opening of the debate on same sex marriage in Nigeria there were over 12, 460 signatories from across the world supporting Gay and Lesbian United in Nigeria from Middle East, Asia, South and North America (Oregon, Florida, California, Texas, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts), Europe and vowed to complicate issues in Nigeria.

Canada and Britain governments bluntly came out to condemn same sex marriage in Nigeria like a bombshell. Most Nigerians wondered what is going on with these countries as if Nigeria was still in the Ancient period. Here we go again with the master-plan distraction an excuse for Boko Haram to continue with its inhuman acts that is outrightly opposed to anything and everything Western. Luckily both Islam and Nigerian culture totally condemn same sex marriage.

Canada and any other Western countries condemning Gay marriage in Nigeria should be told politely that Nigeria has the right to make laws to protect the interest of its citizens. How could Britain or any country tell another sovereign Country to rescind its decision on gay marriage or else? While America would order its Diplomats to fight for Gay Rights abroad not in any country that condemns the practice.

They need to be reminded that respect is reciprocal that in Africa, gay is a fundamental cultural offence banished by deities of Africa. Britain, Canada, and United States should continue with their humanitarian services, not their promotion of the forbidden practice of same sex marriage in Africa.

God created man in His own image and created woman from one of the man's ribs, according to the scriptures. God directs that all creations should multiply.

The Western Civilization is dislocating parts of the body created by God to perform specific functions. Same sex marriage is un-African, un-biological, abominable, and devilish in Africa.

What informed the report by the Nigerian Tribune Newspaper of November 2011 that not less than 12 percent of public secondary school students in Nigeria practise anal sex; while 12.1 per cent of university students and 15.2 per cent adolescents in northern Nigeria engage in the act?

When the Nigeria population is unknown, with no single accurate records of birth or death recorded anywhere, how do we come up with such percentage of those who practice anal sex in Nigeria?

In statistics there is a standard deviation from the norm plus or minus three percent. Without seriously going through the academic xenophobia of statistics, the process of measuring variation at the quantitative level is only somewhat complicated by the fact that the sum of the deviations from the mean is zero. Moreover, the process of squaring the deviations provides even greater sensitivity to variation among the observations themselves and secures additional mathematical properties that enhance the use of this measurement approach. Note that the square root of the variance is a measure called the standard deviation. Like Fela would sing, 'Teacher, please don't teach me nonsense'. The Nigerian media should weigh carefully their figures before making it public.

Without mincing words some Nigeria who practice "Man to be climbing Man and Woman climbing fellow Woman" game are terribly ill. Not only Politicians that need to visit Aro Psychiatric Hospital in Abeokuta, some Nigerians promoting same sex marriage need to visit for proper psychoanalysis.

For the benefit of our readers here is the Bill:
Section 3 of the bill reads: "Only marriage contracted between a man and a woman either under Islamic law, customary law or Marriage Act is recognized as valid in Nigeria."

Section 4 (1) which kicks against gay clubs reads: "The registration of gay clubs, societies and organizations; their sustenance, processions and meetings are hereby prohibited. (2) The public show of same sex amorous relationship directly or indirectly is hereby prohibited."

Section 1 (2) and (3) reads: "A marriage contract or civil union entered into between persons of same sex is invalid and shall not be recognized as entitled to the benefits of a valid marriage. (3) A marriage contract or civil union entered into between persons of same sex by virtue of a certificate issued by a foreign country shall be void in Nigeria, and any benefits accruing there from by virtue of certificate shall not be enforced by any court in Nigeria."

The law also banned solemnization of same sex marriage in churches and mosques in Nigeria. Section 2 (1) of the bill provides: "Marriage or civil union entered into between persons of same sex by virtue of a certificate issued by a foreign country shall be void in Nigeria and any benefits accruing there from by virtue of the certificate shall not be enforced."

Section 5 (1) (2) (3) which stipulates the penalties reads: "Persons who entered into same sex marriage contract or civil union commit an offence and are each liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment.

"(2) Any person who registers, operate or participates in gay clubs, societies and organization or directly or indirectly make public show of same amorous relationship in Nigeria commits an offence and shall each be liable on conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment.

"(3)Any person or group or persons that witness, abet and aids the solemnization of a same sex marriage or civil sustenance of gay clubs, societies, organization, process of meeting in Nigeria commits an offence and shall be liable to conviction to a term of 10 years imprisonment."

Call it any name, Homosexuality, Lesbian, same sex marriage is nauseating. God created and designed human parts for specific functions. When human beings start distorting God's plan, problems creep into human life. Those who practice same sex marriage are mentally defective and are anomalous set of human beings. They are psychologically rickety, emotionally befuddled and expressively deranged.

A country blessed with angels and handsome human species and to turn the nature against God's creation for same sex marriage, distorting the functions of their bodies should be doomed. Same sex marriage is morally, culturally and religiously wrong in all ramifications.

Where are the Mallam, Pastors and the leaders of the various deities and goddesses of Africa on this subject? The African deities of the land must be seriously angry with Nigeria.

So Help Us God!
