Femi Ajayi's Outlook

Nigerians are frightened as to the direction Yar'Adua is taking Nigeria in his polarization policies which some Nigerians are concerned about as mentioned in some of my previous articles. Some Nigerian newspapers and some prominent Nigerians have been at the cross-road on the direction of this current administration. Some have stated that Nnamdi Azikiwe, Tafawa Balewa and Obafemi Awolowo could be shedding tears in their graves at what Nigeria has become today.

IS YAR'ADUA ACTUALLY IN CONTROL OF NIGERIA AFFAIRS?
BABA IYABO, WHERE ART THOU!

ow! Many unpalatable events are cropping up in Nigeria, the God own country of many human species with visionless leadership, supported by heartless caucuses, regrettably. The religious fundamentalists have declared total war against anything western; the Militants are doing their jiggling without any remorse, the Nigerian workers have taken strikes as 'Aso Ebi', and the Nigeria Law Makers have decided to stay-put on their unsalted positions asking for automatic ticket for the next election, and 'Mr. Servant President' has REFUSED to declare a state of emergency on the power supply in Nigeria leaving Nigerians in a complete and everlasting darkness.

I bet you, Chief Enahoro is lamenting at his old age (86 in 2009) of what has become of the country they liberated from the Europeans, now under heartless Nigeria leaders.

As if Yar'Adua's administration has not had enough of the Militants from Niger Delta Region, Rilwan Lukman, the man who supposed to have been counting the number of fowl, Chicken, Ram, or Cow in his country home, is advising the Federal Government to move the University of Petroleum from Offuru, new Warri, Delta State to Kaduna. The University that is supposed to create more job opportunities for the people of the region, as part of the dividend of oil producing region, is going to be moved to the North.

It is ironic on the part of the South-South Governors to have kept quiet over the proposed relocation of the Petroleum University by the Minister of Petroleum Resources, Alhaji Rilwanu Lukman to Kaduna. The University was upgraded by Obasanjo's administration, from the Petroleum Training Institute to a full fledged University of Petroleum. The proposal then inspired the Delta State Government to donate N250 million as take-off grant to the University.

Overturning Obasanjo's policies at the snap of a finger is not a better approach in governance, and it looks like a death sentence to Yar'Adua's policies. Possibly the South-South Governors were sleeping when Rilwanu proposed moving the University to Kaduna. What is going to happen in Nigeria with the escalating unrest in the country? The Militants might be saying to the Nigeria leaders that 'enough is enough'.

Most Nigerians would agree with the South-South Governors, just wakening up from their sleep, that the proposed Petroleum Bill is anti communities of the oil producing areas. The senseless anti unity policy of moving the University for Petroleum from Offuru to Kaduna could further escalate the militants' activities. Unfortunately the amnesty has no future for the region. Some schools argued that what else is in it for the region after the amnesty!

Ironically the Nigeria petroleum self-styled 'expert', Rilwanu Lukman's game plan is anti-peace in Nigeria. Regardless Lukman alleged investment in the AFREN Energy Resources in the oil region, since holding that portfolio for decades; he is not working toward peace in the Delta Region.

If Yar'Adua is not pursuing Northern agenda, why the consideration of moving the Petroleum University to Kaduna, in the first place? Unfortunately, some educated illiterates from the south would like to sway the world that the oil flows from North to South which makes the oil the property of the North.

Possibly the same geometric analysis informed Lukman to wanting to move the University to Kaduna. It is like pouring petrol into an engulfed fire of violence in Nigeria, by introducing Militants into the already disparaged North on religious strife of Boko Haram dynasty.

As the Militants are fighting for the dividends of the oil sector, Mohammed Yusuf Movement (Yusuffiya), Islamic sect in Borno state, called Boko Haram, led by Mohammed Yusuf vowed to deal a huge blow on anything different from Islam. Ironically today, the Fundamentalists always fight against anything Western; Education, Technology, and Health. The console for human being, religion, is being bastardized in the North again.

Where are the true Northern Nigeria leaders? This seems to be a test for every Nigerian President. Unfortunately it is degenerating into a level of no-control per each outbreak. People fear to move close to this group and unfortunately the group REFUSES to obey any law in their respective States.

A University teacher abandoned his University education, as preached against by the sect, and wrongly follows Quran, is shocking in this modern world when the whole world is coming closer by seconds. The question is why a University Don should quit his job to go into shoe making business in the name of turning the Holy Book upside down for their selfish ends.

Where were the Northern Governors all these years while innocent citizens have been slaughtered in the name of worshipping GOD? Laws ought to have been passed longest time to stop religious violence in the North.

God knows what is becoming of the Northern policies in Yar'Adua's administration that every 'juicy' ministries, have to be zoned to the North. Despite Yar'Adua's favourable policies to the North, there was never any positive dividend coming out of that. It is not that they would use that opportunity to improve upon the North, but to find out that they are using such to benefit their personal pocket.

Talking about self-centeredness of some northern leaders or how political office holders enriched themselves, Umaru Dikko, second Republic Minister of Transport, of the popular 'crate episode', courtesy Buhari/Idiagbon administration, accused political office holders of using their offices to corruptly enrich themselves. The only person that would know the path of a snake on the rock would be his fellow reptile.

According to Dikko

"The only thing that keeps political office holders in Nigeria happy is the amount of stolen money they had in their bank accounts and those stashed away in foreign countries. They should eschew corrupt enrichment of themselves, members of their families and cronies at the expense of the suffering masses who had elected them into offices for the good of all,"

What a confession from Umaru Dikko, who escaped been crated by Buhari/Idiagbon military regime. Actually a thief was shouting 'barawo' at the farm owner before the community calls him a thief.

True to what Dikko alleged, a member of Nigeria House of Representatives, Hon. Bala Ibn Na'Allah is now flying his own private jet after six years in the House of Representatives.

Hon Bala Ibn Na'Allah

It is no big deal for Na'Allah to own a private jet, even if his people are still riding on donkey back, and if those privileged to own vehicles have to park their cars kilometres away from their homes for lack of good roads to their mansions. According to Na'Allah, it is more economical, wiser and cheaper to invest in air strips than put roads everywhere. Possibly it is wiser for Nigerians to obtain little jets because Hon. Na'Allah says so.

He is now part of the elites to own a private jet in Nigeria. He felt that maintaining a small aircraft is cheaper for him than his car or jeep. Possibly Na'Allah was a car dealer before venturing into politics, possibly a good lawyer from Oputa Panel.

While most Nigerians are yearning for good leadership in the country, the Nigeria Senate is claiming that its members are qualified for an automatic ticket for the 2010 elections regardless their mid-term report cards. The Senate President would justify the Senate desire that for stability purposes, Nigerians should allow the Senators an automatic ticket. Without the understanding of the use of words different from his Zombie orientation, Senator Mark could demonstrate some loose talks sometimes. Mark believes that granting automatic tickets for his fellow Senators would guarantee Nigeria stability in the face of challenges across the country.

Unfortunately the Senate has failed the country for solutions to the instability in the country today. The Senate has not come up with social legislation for good road networks, or power supply.

Most Nigerians were disappointed at the outcome of the 2007 elections that brought most of them into the Senate. Would that justify their automatic ticket by holding on to power without any performances? Could that be what Mark defines as democracy at play whereby those in power should clinch to power without any measuring devises to proof their worth as Senators? Should such continue as true representatives of their respectful communities?

Mark words, which sound silly to any average intelligent human being, are,

"After every four years, after an election, people begin to clamour for their own local government to produce the next Senator. In other words there are people back home now in our constituencies who are saying it is the turn of their local government to produce the next elected {selected} person. It should be the turn of the local governments who are represented here now to produce the same people in 2011."

No one is disputing the Senate experiences in filling their pockets to the brim. We could rightly describe Nigeria LEGISLATORS as the hall mark democracy whose only concern is what goes into their pockets and not what benefits their people.

By psychometric standard, who would rate the current Senate with high marks to justify Mark's unreliable yardstick. Mark says that they are very competent and knowledgeable, possibly in draining the public treasury. Knowledgeable which shows on their performances by making life miserable for most Nigerians?

According to Mark, "This harmony, peace and cordiality are needed ingredients for developments", of which no one would dispute. The turkey does not see the ugliness of its buttocks when he goes to the market to display that.

He went on to state that "We must sustain an experienced and stable legislature which is the needed antidote for the sustenance and growth of democracy."

Ironically, the Senate harmonious relationship with the executive has given Nigeria a better Constitution, better bills on maritime that a whole ship would disappear without any trace etc., crime control, among others. The Senate promise to create States and contest for elections in 2011 will be a miracle.

The Nigeria Senators take Nigeria for a ride, regrettably. Would PDP consent to the demand for them to go to their constituencies and face the wrath of their people?

There has been some unpleasant revelation about the unemployables of most Nigerian Graduates in the country that has pride itself as the most educated country in Africa, if not in the world. The former CBN Governor, Professor Soludo sang to the deafness administration the plight of unemployable Nigeria graduates. In the face of ceaseless strikes in the Nigeria public Universities, devil found its place in the heart of these idle students and turned them into social misfits.

At the completion of their training, their inability to match up with their potential employers' needs, caught up with them. They become nuisances to their communities. Ironically most teachers in Kwara State could not pass the exam meant for their students' graduations.

Nigeria education system has been baptized with frequent strikes; unavailability of publications or materials for educating Nigeria students because of fake lecturers, with fake Ph.Ds., that teach in fake Universities, built on the platform of poor curricular; basically lacking modern teaching methods, while creating more of cultism in the schools. Definitely it creates more 'Lagos Adewoles' where you can obtain your certifies at your finger tips in the face of survival or using our brain on negative lines.

Baba Iyabo, where art thou?

Christians, and any other believers would sing, 'Give us this day our daily bread'. Nigerians would not forgive any administration that deprives its citizens their livelihood. An employee goes to work with no power supply in an overcrowded bus on poor roads and goes back home without power supply. How would such a human being say something good about the government? Negativism would always fill his tongue every second.

We have vulcanizers that need power supply. Construction employs very high level professionals - plumbers, electricians, surveyors, utility managers, architects, artisans, engineers on their jobs. Some States are embarking on massive road construction, housing projects, airport construction, and port development. Nigeria is blessed with arable lands that young graduate could work. Possibly from mechanized farming to dairy products, animal husbandry, poultry, and fishery among others. Barbering, cosmetology all need power supply.

Does this administration need help from its citizens living abroad? We are not talking about those in jails abroad. We wish those ones could be brought back to Nigeria to face Nigeria jail and smell what Ogunsipe prison is cooking in the Nigeria Prisons.

Could Nigerians abroad ever trust this administration in their quest to return to Nigeria? Heaven helps those who help themselves. Possibly some God-sent leaders could facilitate that, not Yar'Adua's administration. Yar'Adua's rhetoric in helping Nigerians Abroad is like yet to be declared state of emergency on the power supply in Nigeria.

I guarantee 'the power that be', GIVE NIGERIA REGULAR POWER SUPPLY, NIGERIANS WOULD STOP BEING NEGATIVE ABOUT THEIR COUNTRY. All human activities center on regular uninterrupted power supply.

Is Yar'Adua truly in control of Nigeria affairs?

Baba Iyabo where art thou?
