Thank You to those who laid down their lives to protect our freedom (Temple Chima Ubochi)

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery (Galatians 5:1 (NIV))

Every human being, of whatever origin, of whatever station, deserves respect.
We must each respect others even as we respect ourselves (U. Thant)

We now live in a nation where doctors destroy health, lawyers destroy justice, universities destroy knowledge, governments destroy freedom, the press destroys information, religion destroys morals, and our banks destroy the economy (Chris Hedges)

n May 30th, 1967, the Nigerian state declared a fratricidal war against the people of the old Eastern Region. Today, we remember and salute all the people of old Eastern Region who paid the supreme prize so that we can live and be free. Today, we pay our respect to those who died for Nigeria to be "one". Today, we thank the children, women and men of old Eastern Region who had to die so that the northern oligarchy and their imperial masters can continue controlling the purse and pulse of oil. It was the control of oil that led to the civil war, and it will be that oil that might lead to the disintegration of Nigeria, if care is not taken.

On Saturday, June 2, 2012, I wrote an article remembering the Igbo men, women and children who gave their lives, and then was the 45th anniversary of the Biafran genocide. Today, I enlarge it to include all the people of the former Eastern Region who died for that cause. We will never forget those heroes and heroines and all they died for. Because, what that led to that war has not been addressed sufficiently till this day. President Buhari will do himself and others a favor by addressing the Biafran issue once and for all. And only reverting to the regional system of government (tenets of Aburi Accord) would solve the Nigerian problems. The Nigerian leaders know the solution; they can play the ostrich, pretending about it, but, they will only end up fooling themselves, because, nothing would change for the better unless they do the right thing.

Today I eulogize all those who laid down their lives for Biafra. One day, those bones shall rise again! I hereby paraphrase Rev. Jennifer Phillips Veteran's Day Prayer.

Thank you to all who served Biafra!

Governor of Nations, our Strength and Shield:
we give you thanks for the devotion and courage
of all those who have offered their lives for Biafra:

For those who have fought for freedom;
for those who laid down their lives for others;
for those who have borne suffering of mind or of body;
for those who have brought their best gifts to times of need.

On our behalf they have entered into danger,
endured separation from those they love,
labored long hours, and borne hardship in war and in peacetime.

Give to us, your people, grateful hearts
and a united will to honor these men and women
and hold them always in our love and our prayers;
until your world is perfected in peace through Jesus Christ our Savior. Amen.
