CONGRATULATIONS TO NIGERIANS

hat intrigued me the most about this past presidential election in Nigeria is the seemingly maturity of our politicking, from the calculations that went into the picking of running mates, to the maturity of the electorate. A friend told me, he did not call his people in Nigeria much because they all support Jonathan, while he supports Buhari.

It was amazing to me to see Nigerians disagree with their anointed religious leaders, it is something to behold never in the history of our religious nation have we questioned our religious leaders because they are what the Yorubas call alase ekeji orisa (they are intermediary-deities). I was amazed to see some of those leaders take sides while some rode the fence either way it was amazing.

I do not believe Nigerians voted for Buhari/Osinbajo because they have high hopes, but because they simply want change from the six years of Jonathan/Sambo administration which was full of false promises, and sophisticated stealing from the treasuries. I honestly dont high expectation from the incoming administration, rather those who supported (and did not support) must hold them accountable, so that their arm of flesh would not fail them.

I congratulate President Goodluck Jonathan; his name would go down in history as the first incumbent administration in Nigeria to be defeated and hopefully peacefully handover to the opposition party -that is a feat that must be commended. I hope and pray that he gets to seat with the elders of Africa, that he and his wife have a cause that theyll fight for (perhaps the reason God brought them into the world), after leaving office.

Dear General Buhari and Prof/Rev. Osinbajo you would not have ascended to power without God allowing it (especially in Nigeria) and without the trust of the people. You have been handed a great opportunity to change history or repeat it and for the people to ask for change again in four years.

President-elect Buhari, you have a rare opportunity to change the perception most Nigerians have of you (myself included), a nice weakling who is a figurehead it was to Idiagbon, now many hope Tinubu would not be pulling the strings since rumor has it that he bankrolled APC and he seem to appear in pictures with you without a title in your campaign. God will go with you; He will keep you, and His face will shine on you and your administration.

The number of days you have left on earth is smaller than what youve lived already. I believe at this point of your life, leaving a legacy that would put your name alongside great leaders should be your focus. I know you have to be nice to those who supported you, but be very deliberate about it demand accountability, put those who have the fear of God in position, perhaps even keep the gentleman in Agriculture from the out-going administration (I've heard a lot about him).

Vice President elect Prof. /Rev. Osinbajo, the general bringing you on board solidify my support for him, not because vice-presidents do anything beyond ceremonies, but for the gut and political calculation to choose you it was brilliant. As someone who many have said is a true believer (Ive seen you in pictures with people I know personally), this is your chance to be a Daniel (within the palace) and also to remove the reproach of what being a born-again Christian mean in/to Nigeria(ns). In-case, you dont know it means someone who takes advantage of and lord it over others in the name of Christ. You have been put in place for such a time as this, just like Goodluck Jonathan but he squandered the opportunity God gave him (like Saul, father of Jonathan the first king of united Israel).

To fellow Nigerians, this is a time for us to be proud, a relatively peaceful transition from an incumbent to an opposition that is maturity of our politics. As of this moment our politics is still based on tribe loyalty and money, we are not ideological like many western nations, our view of politics has both strength and weakness, whichever the case weve done well.

Dont quit your church because your pastor supported the losing party or dont think he/she has lost their anointing or gifts, no as human they simply made calculations based on what they believe in and where wrong pastors are not deities they are human. Im actually hoping, this experience will reduce that culture of worshipping our human faith leaders.

We cannot now relax, as the forces fighting against Nigeria have not gone to sleep (neither is our God), but as Nigerians we must now start to hold our politicians accountable for what they promise, we must not indulge in stomach infrastructure politics while selling our birth right to the highest bidder, and creating a terrible nation for our children. Imagine Nigeria as a true regional (Africa) power, not based on numbers but financially, intellectually, militarily, and take our city among the re-aligning powers of the world.

We must demand a seat at the table through our activism, either individually or as entities we dont have to agree with our pastor or general overseer, we must look at facts and vote accordingly.

This is a time of celebration, so once again I say congratulations Nigeria. Thank You Lord.

God Bless Nigeria and Nigerians.

Remain Blessed
