OPEN LETTER TO MY STATE GOVERNOR, SEN. ABIOLA AJIMOBI OF OYO STATE (PART 8 OF 8)

advertisement

Continued from Part 7

Your Excellency,

y previous seven letters highlighted the problems with your administration and possible solutions. I wrote the first letter five months ago and the seventh one about two months ago. Since my last letter, your style of administration has worsened over time.

You have become more deceptive, cunning, dribbling and inconsistent in your actions and inactions. Almost every party member and in fact the entire citizenry is fed up with your antics. The silent recommendation and advice they have for you is not to contest the coming election. In view of this, I will like to voice out what they cannot say before you. That is if you really like yourself and you want to keep on the remaining integrity you have, please withdraw from the coming general election so that you and our party will not be humiliated in the state.

Among the APC controlled state in the South West, the only state with which we can compare you with for the coming election is Ogun State. This is because Govr Raji Fashola is already spending his second term in Lagos. Govr Fayemi of Ekiti has been rigged out for PDP; Govr Aregbesola has won his Second term in the State of Osun and he was sworn in again yesterday. Ondo has remained in the firm grip of labour Party which has now changed to PDP. Hence it is only Oyo and Ogun states that will remain as the main focus of our party in the 2015 gubernatorial elections.

In preparation for the coming election, you toured all the local governments in our dear state just like Govr Ibikunle Amosun did. It is on record that in every local government Amosun visited, he commissioned at least three projects like roads, new markets, hospitals, schools, rural electrification and the likes. In your own case the only thing you did is to announce the bogus distribution of appointment letters to teachers. The question being asked by the people is that when has it become the duty of the Executive Governor of a state to distribute appointment letters? When a state Governor goes about to distribute letters, it is a sign of lack of performance, joblessness and indolence. As a matter of fact the mode of employing the so called teachers is questionable. It is on record that these people did not collect any employment form as other previously employed teachers did. When were these teachers interviewed? who interviewed them? It is doubtful if the certificates of these new employees are on government file. Yet the 5,000 figure claimed by our government is fraudulent because the maximum employed from any local government is 35 and we have 33 local governments. Lying and deceptions are not in the character of true progressives like Late Lam Adesina, late Bola Ige and the revered Chief Awolowo.

Even stark illiterates were disappointed with the address you made at all the seven political zones of the state. People waited to hear what you had to say from 10.am in the morning till midnight and even 2.00 am (they wanted to hear your record of stewardship in the last three and a half years and what you will promise them for the next four years) only for you to display your expertise in Apala, Fuji and Juju music. This is an insult to the people of Oyo state and it is more of an insult for you to be requesting for another four years with this woeful score card. If the electorates will determine their choice of preferred candidate by records of stewardship and ability to address them, we have failed.

I was short of words when a semi illiterate, a motor tout described our administration as a 419 administration. He cited the example of the education sector where all you announced was the upgrade of various schools without creating or establishing a single one by this administration. You promised that you established Oyo state University of Technology, yet it was a mere conversion of The Polytechnic Ibadan to this new name. You also claimed to give autonomy to the various Polytechnics and Colleges of Educations. These did not grant any new status to any of these institutions. No new buildings have been built on the schools. No new courses have been accredited in them. None of them has received any subvention from this administration.

The same scenario is being played in the so called model secondary school you plan to start in the five zones. You are just converting the existing High Schools by names. Please start a project from the scratch. Go to a virgin land, bulldoze trees, clear land and build schools on it. If you can't do these, please leave the schools as you met them. Don't take glory from other people's project. That is what Amosun is doing in Ogun state.

The worst quality you possess is that none of the party leaders or party members believes whatever you say. They don't trust you and they have lost confidence in you. Based on this, how do you expect them to work for you or vote for you in the coming election?

  • About three years ago, you nominated some party leaders to the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC). You later withdrew the list from the state house of assembly. Since then, you have not represented their names; you did not give them another appointment. Thereby putting their lives on hold.

  • You promised the state with creation of additional local governments at the inception of the administration but this is yet to see the light of the day.

  • In September 2013, you called some party leaders and promised them cars just like you did in the previous month to some zonal leaders, they are still waiting for the fulfillment.

  • In October 2013 after dissolving your cabinet, you told party leaders to nominate three people from each of the 33 local governments to be appointed as Commissioners and Advisers. By the time you made your appointment, none of the 99 names made the list. It took a lot of persuasion and appeal before you eventually put them in some boards. Does this show any respect to the leaders?

  • In the same October, you told the party leaders not to submit the name of any of the previously appointed commissioners because you will not reappoint any of them. Yet more than half of them were reappointed. Without the consent or recommendation of leaders.

  • I should not bother to mention several landlords you promised compensation for their buildings pulled down in the name of urban renewal program in Ibadan, Ogbomosho, Oyo, Iseyin and other towns and cities.

  • Severally, you promised the state to conduct local government election but six months to the end of you administration, you have not and there is no sign of preparation.

  • In the last three months, you have promised party leaders more than five times that you will change some chairmen of caretaker committee "tomorrow" but you have just been toying with these people, the party and the government.

  • Similarly, you promised all the APC members of Oyo State House of Assembly that the fee for their nomination forms will be paid by you. The collection and submission of their forms closed two weeks ago. You did not fulfill your promise to them.

There is no other name for you and your administration but deception, disappointment, frustration and grand failure. In view of these, I will end my letters to you by saying you should please withdraw your nomination form for the next gubernatorial race to enable us field a better candidate. Otherwise, your person and APC (my party in Oyo state) should be prepared for the mother of all humiliations and unprecedented failure in February 29, 2015.

As am finishing this letter, I was informed of the sad news of the death of Honorable Member representing Afijio local governments in Oyo state House of Assembly, Hon A.F Adelakun (aka Zentury Pictures). This is two days after another untimely death of Hon. Taju Salami, Chairman Caretaker Committee of Iwajowa local government. May their souls rest in peace? May we not see or hear any more death in this administration (Amen)

Yours faithfully
