JUNE 12: A BOTCHED RED LETTER DAY IN NIGERIA

une 12
A red letter day
thwarted and annulled by
Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida
and his co-conspirators.

June 12
A sacred day
all Nigerians punctuated
social anomie, and forgot
about ethnic and religion
bigotry, hate, resentment
and social ills.

June 12
A peaceful day
that signified
our squandered unity
in diversity.
A unique day in the anal
history of Nigeria.

June 12
A tranquilized day
whose symbol would've
unified a rich but poor
country in search
of its true identity!

June 12
A day dated with ugly history
of Nigeria.
Unless the country atones
for the sins of June 12,1993
It'll continue to wander
in political wilderness.
