OPEN LETTER TO BUHARI AND TINUBU

Dear Political Gladiators,

am writing this letter out of concern for our national interest, because I neither belong to any political party nor have affiliation to any politician. However, I am propelled by the inalienable penchant to empower our nation to great heights.

The presidential election is about seven months plus away and your party has not announced the substantive nominees. This is rather troubling and could hand the incumbent undue advantage which would not serve us well as a nation. The pertinent reason for this concern is that there is a considerable time and effort required to acquaint the nation with the nominees and their policies. More so, the position should be keenly contested and should not be taken lightly.

We are all aware that the prognosis for this country is grim, hence the loose talk should cease right now. There is need to shed the frumpy profile of "all talk and no action" party and come up with highly competitive candidates with winning formulae.

There is an urgent need to educate the public whose lives have become a daily swim in a tar pit with very little hope of ever getting out about the facts of how we have been shortchanged. This is especially over the last miserable years of misrule by the Jonathan administration.

The time has come for both of you to jettison all petty political under the belt jabs which could be seen by some as being rooted in a seemingly ego-driven declaration of self-identity. You need to work together to serve this nation, your service should bear the hallmark of elder statesmen that both of you are.

I would be remiss if I do not at least make passing mention of how depressed, disgusted, and, yes, angry I have become as I watch the ongoing ludicrous, immature and asinine attempts by the opposition at potential voter manipulation. The opposition is using paid pollsters, thereby, by inference and extension stretching the idea that the majority of our people endorse the presidents' performance and the repulsive notion that he was been persuaded to contest against his will. Nothing could be far away from the truth.

There is a need to avoid the religion entrapment and place the struggle for our people's rights to good and decent life squarely in the pantheon of our founding fathers' dreams.

Finally, I would like to suggest names of candidates that could potentially be the game changer, the team of Atiku/Fashola, are highly desirable. From the South-West point of view, the name, Babatunde Fashola, will lock down the region and the name Atiku, could lock down core North, Middle belt and garner significant votes from the South-East. I would have suggested Buhari but his age could be his Achilles heel. Anyways, let the party delegates decide without further ado.

Please note that a half-hearted makeup of good candidates would be unacceptable and likely lead to losing more vote share.

Yours Sincerely,
Clive Akinsola
